Good phone .. but still needs a lot of work
Android phones are much better
Just got my N8 for a week, everything runs smoothly.. camera is superb (I mean it is REALLY VERY superb), even on low light condition, the captured pictures still look great without any noise..
Gaming is great too ! downloaded some HD games, such as GT racing, aspalt 5, angry birds, Zuma HD... all worked smoothly without lag and graphic looks very good!
In terms of browser, it is better than n97(my pld phone) and viewing youtube video through facebook post is very stable.
i dont use widget much.. so i just removed all the preset widgets on the homescreen.. so the phone memory can be free to about 178MB..
Battery life is very good as well.. my gf plays game at full brightness for 5 and half hours before the battery reaches 20%(where it will prompt whether to activate power saving mode). Upon activating power saving mode, the phone lasts for 5 more hours(without playing games, just used for sms)
overall... the phone is very good.. and although many complain about symbian^3 OS sucks... i dont really think so... it deliver N8 smoothly and everything works well in this device.. i guess every phone will have their pros and cons...
Hasan_237, 05 Nov 2010Does N8 has a better display than SE Xperia X10? N8 is amoled, but X10 is TFT...But N8 res 640... moreNo biased opinion here.
So yup the X10 has a better and bigger screen than the N8. Its more crisp and vivid especially after the new Android 2.1 update.
Nonetheless the N8 has an AMOLED screen and it is pretty good no doubt. The only drawback is the low resolution which makes the display just a little inferior to the X10's.
Not a BIG difference I would say, so don't worry about the N8 screen. Its not the best screen in the market, but it is definitely one of the better ones available. You won't be dissapointed with the N8 in any case.

But the resolution is only 640*360...whereas most of the set now-a-days have 800*480,also iphone 4 has its unbelievable 960*640 res....Compared to this, how can N8 provide with such sharp & vivid display with low res?? Hasan_237, 05 Nov 2010Does N8 has a better display than SE Xperia X10? N8 is amoled, but X10 is TFT...But N8 res 640... moreDude, pixel count is certainly very important to get good viewing experience. Amoled will give better contrast on the other hand. So yo gotta make a call. If you're looking for a crisp display go with X10.
However, for general use, you might not see any difference after a certain resolution. You should rather go check out both displays yourself.
Anonymous, 05 Nov 2010how is that resolution on e7 4" screenI dont get your question
Does N8 has a better display than SE Xperia X10? N8 is amoled, but X10 is TFT...But N8 res 640*360 whereas X10 res 854*480 .... I hv seen X10,its video quality was awesome, too bright,vivid,sharp,crisp.... So if I buy an N8 will I get a better display, will it be more brighter & sharp??? Anybody who has experienced both, plz let me knw... Don't give any biased ans plzz....
@Nokia N8 users: How is the N8 speaker compare to other Nokia handsets?
Anonymous, 04 Nov 2010then u buy N97 from me for 550$.how can u say not to compare phones of nokia itself, simply don... moreI have nvr owned a n97 cause it was way overpriced and i tested it before and it is kinda laggy. And i nvr said to compare nokia phones i just said nvr to compare different versions of symbian os. Cause many people tend to relate the performance of the s60v5 with the new symbian^3
tictactaylor, 05 Nov 2010Not experienced S60V5 compatibility problems, is that java or symbian apps? Both seem ok. Scre... moreMostly occurs in s60v5 symbian apps. The reason why nokia sticked with the nHD (360X640) resolution is because it produces a 16:9 ratio which is perfect for viewing videos on the device without stretching or the black bars at the top and the bottom of the vid. It also saves on cpu power and battery life. And the optimal resolution for a 3.5 inch display is the nHd resolution which produces about 280dpi. Any more than that and it will be a waste of pixels
Anonymous, 05 Nov 2010wht the hell?? nokia apps are os version specific?? epic fail. What do you epic fail? Is just like android and ios and other os out there. Most of the apps are version specific, not all apps will work on different versions. Just like symbian, btw s60v5 and symbian^3 are different versions not different OS. So you deserve the EPIC FAIL!
nokia lives and will live on being the best people only use symbain 3 apps for n8 i think nokia needs to build strengh in the app section and make usefull apps nokia should be working on the n8 succesor all now a 18 mega pixel or so i have my faith in nokia i think nokia needs to work hard in the touch screen section i want the to make a better screen than samsungs super amoled screen nokia if your the best be the best any one agrees with me
can you guys please share your knowledge how to prolong n8 battery life,
for the first time, should i run the factory partially charged new battery until it dies, then charge it for ? Hours?

Those software applications just break the operating system on N8. I have told here many times not do so.
The S60V5 software may overwrite some system interfaces that leaks memory or busy loop cpu and eventually makes the phone not work properly"
Guess now you know why Apple do it the way they do it via Itunes only. It guarantees quality plus earns app developers a bit of money.
