andrew, 01 Nov 2010hey guys just wanna share some of my unbiased (something only 2% of people on here understand)... moreRead your review on the N8. Just bought one myself a few days back. So far I realised the camera quality is quite dependent on the modes, eg: portrait, close up etc. But yeah, the flash is great and in the right modes pix are pretty solid. Is the hack for the video auto focus from hyperX worth using though? The battery life is quite bad though. I have to charge it everyday. (I text alot) Does that occur for you too?
i am using n8 for 14 days now,for last 2 days my battery back up has been reduced to 40% after charging 10 hrs before without any use..previously it was almost 2 days...somebody plzz helpp.
Iíve been a nokia phone user since 2001. N97 was the last nokia smartphone I bought on December 2009. I was so disappointed with the OS stability, however Iím still using it as my secondary phone due to the fact that I really like the physical keyboard which was my deciding factor despite of bad reviews, but somehow it got a little bit of improvement after the updates. Itís good to read positive reviews about N8 compared to N97 before where 90% are really bad. Few people whose posting negative reviews on N8 are obviously hated Nokia as they keep on copy-pasting their comments that were written days ago. To be fair enough, Iím currently using iPhone 3GS as my primary phone. I underestimated it before until one time; I borrowed my cousinís to use the web and guess what, I was impressed with the OS, web, UI(for a change) & speed, so after a month I renewed my contract and got the 16GB on Feb 2010. Iím using it for 8 months now and I have never experienced any lagging or freezing so far which feels good I donít have to deal any issues with a phone. The downside though is that the customization of themes/tones, Bluetooth and other stuff common in Nokia phones are I myself misses it badly. And hereís the N8 came out with 12MP Xenon Flash, HDMI, capacitive, USB port, and other features that making me crave for right now! WTH Nokia!? Youíre killing me! Iíll wait for few weeks before I decideÖ C7 & E7 are pretty good phones too in terms of design & features especially the E7 that has keyboard.
ive just had my nokia n8 on contract and got a good deal its what i hoped it would be and much more i think its better than the iphones and the htc and just about every other phone its brill its quite simply the best phone ive ever had
hey guys just wanna share some of my unbiased (something only 2% of people on here understand) thoughts on the phone after having it for a few days:
Can I first say that after reading copious amounts of information about this phone since April, I basically knew exactly what to expect after all the reviews and everything. Anyways here goes:
*The build quality of this thing is amazing. I have already dropped it after 4 days being a clumsy person and it didn't even leave a scratch (it wasn't much of a fall but plastic still would have scratched)
*The phone is actually smaller than it looks. In real life it feels pretty compact and doesn't weigh as much as I thought it would (considering its made out of metal)
*The loudspeaker is pretty loud. There's no need for stereo for a phone. You need each speaker to be 5cm from each ear to really appreciate it. The downside though is where it is placed - on the back of the petruding camera. This means if you're playing music and put the phone face-up (the natural way) the speaker is blocked and the sound is very faint, which can be annoying especially if you are worried about your screen.
*Speaking of the petruding camera, it doesn't stick out THAT much. The problem is that it makes grip a little hard sometimes and can make you feel like you're going to drop the phone. In saying that I'd had it stick out 3 times more for this camera. It is AMAZING! way better than I thought it would be. The xenon is as good or better than the n82. I went clubbing and took photos of my friends and I while we were DANCING and the photos turned out great. Nice natural lighting in low-light conditions with no blur. My N86 (and any other LED flash) would have taken a blurry , poor quality shot. I took another photo of my front yard in pitch black and I was amazed how the xenon lit up the whole yard and objects 2 metres away were still so clear. The camera is really good.
The HD video is also impressive. My recommendation is not to use to volume rockers to zoom in and out and it doesn't do this smoothly at all. It actually looks bad if you're fussy. But if you adjust the zoom by touch screen it's fine. The sound quality of the videos is impressive and the digital zoom works better than that on the n86 (which is good!)
*The internet browser is bad. Fullstop. But apparently they are fixing that so we'll see. I installed opera 10 and that works fine
*I have to say I do like Symbian for the way the phone is organised. I can get to anything I want on the phone very easily. I am currently only using 2 of the homescreen and have everything I want on there. They key is to use the "Shortcut" widget and put 4 applications there, instead of having a whole widget , which actually wastes alot of space. The useful large widgets are Email, Facebook, Music Player, Clock, and Missed Events (for msgs and missed calls). If you are an organised person, the homescreen/widget setup on symbian is much more efficient than the iO4
*There could be more apps on Ovi, but in my opinion, apps are gonna keep coming. You're stuck with the hardware and you can't download a xenon flash lol. The apps for Symbian is nothing compared to Apple and Android but they are catching up
*i can also talk about free gps, bluetooth, pentaband and all that, but that's nothing that is unexpected.
I hope I cleared up some things about the n8 for people that are actually interested in buying it. That's my only intention here :) ... With phones it really is up to personal taste
(all the childish trolling and competing is annoying)

I've used the iphone 4 nokia n8 and the galaxy s. I can tell ... moreI doubt you actually own the N8-00. I have both the N8 and the Galaxy S and I can tell you there is no clear winner between these two.
N8 advantages: lower price, much better camera, better GPS & navigation solution, better material (anodized aluminium), better 3G support, better connectivity (USB OTG, HDMI, much better internet/APN control)
Galaxy S: more apps & better screen (and those are basically it, and I think the # of apps for Symbian is catching up)
I won't say Android is better than Symbian^3. There are things that Symbian does better and things that Android does better. If you say that Android is better than Symbian^3 in every single way then I know for sure that you don't actually own a Symbian^3 device.
[deleted post]I'm using the N8-00 right now, and it's quite stable actually. Its camera actually beats my compact digicams.
Do you believe in karma? The Wave is not a bad phone, but I don't think dirty marketing tactic will make it sell better. In fact, because of your spams, Sammy phones will no longer be on my list -- unless it's dirt cheap. Bada still has very limited #s of apps. The Wave is good, but it has issues too e.g. its GPS and its limited #s of apps.
question for all n8 users out there, i really want to upgrade and my current fon is x6, i have problems with it when the sms inbox reach more than 1000, it slows down to a crawl, please tell me if n8 also has these kinds of issues
battery issue, 31 Oct 2010when i play videos or youtube on my nokia 5800 it drains battrey in less than one hour . Is it... moreI tried to connect GPS for one hour with N8. battery almost drains out fully.

MAHYAR, 31 Oct 2010r u happy with n8?the speaker volume is good or not??what about battery life?I've just purchased an N8, after 18 terrible months with a Nokia N97. The battery life is far superior, it even has a power saving mode. The speaker is fantastic, as i play a lot of tune on mine. Really happy with my purchase.
i don't see y people comparing n8 with galaxy s and iphone .. those 2 are high end phones and n8 is just the intermediate one which all our pockets can afford....ishit4 costs around more than twice of an n8 and galaxyShit costs arond 100euro more .
Is n8 that intimidating 2 u fools :D Nokia yet to release there high end phones with business standard OS's , I can't imagine wat wil happen to all the nokia bashers then .

I've used the iphone 4 nokia n8 and the galaxy s. I can tell ... moreLove your view on the Galaxy S. Seriously, no faults at all... I mean its not a bad phone but it is far from perfect.
I considered between Galaxy S and N8. The reason I chose N8 was because Galaxy S had lots of bugs and I was especially scared away by the GPS problems.
BTW, the first thing I heard after the newest Galaxy S update was "Damn, it still lags." I'm very happy with my choice.
Hey All, check the below events. ( Dont miss it, read it ).
[deleted post]Nokia hp is always reliable & long lasting & trendy.
But it depend on yr purpose. If yr purpose is to communicate, social, take photo, music, it will match to you.
For business purpose, u can choose other that use different Operating system ie window...
Symbian is like a dying horse.. sony and samsung have left it to die.. only nokia is trying to feed it to back to life with a bucket full of holes.. I hope nokia can do it.. but I don't belive in it... competition is good but I think nokia will lose this way.. they need to come back fast.. make android and windows7 phones now before they lose all costumers.. develop symbian in silence and come back with something that don't look outdated.. I have gone over to htc after many years with nokia..
A hater?? lol you're funny xD
I've used the iphone 4 nokia n8 and the galaxy s. I can tell u from experience the n8 is a flop, it's no where near the majority of smart phones out there such as HTC, Apple, Samsung, Motorola etc.
The Galaxy S is a wonderful phone, works perfect out of the box, no faults and just plain smooth and beautiful.
Besides the 12mp camera on the n8 its just terrible, basic tasks dont work and it doesn't respond. Why be forced 2 like a phone that doesnt work?
sigh.. i don't get it.. why nokia give 256 mb ram and 680 mhz processor.. they can do better with this phone, this is a high end phone after all.. never mind the symbian ^3, they got chance to grow, but the ram n processor is not adequate.
if you want to install GPS on Symbian mobile phones ...you cand find here an tutorial how to install garmin on Nokia : http://staupe.net/tutorial-instalare-garmin-mobile-xt-5-xx
