i just got mine! one of the first in Australia :)
i love it!!!
Dwane, 29 Oct 2010because I read that the GPU would make up for the lack of processor power and the light OS doe... moredude, if your phone freezes, it doesnt matter if it had a 2ghz cpu. that cpu/gpu/ram combination is enough considering the optimized and light os and screen resolution
if hundreds of people are more than satisfied, wouldnt you say you have a faulty phone?
its not impossible. you're here bashing nokia about one faulty phone. you're ridiculous...
brynn, 29 Oct 2010Thats what i put,why not channel the anger at the shop where you bought it from or return it f... moreYes I am going to get a different phone.
And Yes I am angry and venting here as it was here where I spent months getting excited for this phone reading how great it would be. I could of had a different phone ages ago but no I waited and waited to get this amazing phone which turned out be be anything but amazing.
Why say things like 'Any normal person...' I'd be normal to you if I were bigging up the phone wouldn't I (you prick)
aaptk, 29 Oct 2010youre one in a million
can you admit that
if you think the cpu and ram is not enough
why ... morebecause I read that the GPU would make up for the lack of processor power and the light OS doesn't need much RAM etc. I tried it out (as a Nokia lover) and found that not to be the case.
It def needs those things to be on par with the competition
Anonymous, 29 Oct 2010While you have every right to be pissed about your issues don't you think it would be more rat... moreThats what i put,why not channel the anger at the shop where you bought it from or return it for another..I had 3 faulty n82 before got a good one,Andy Burgin on here had a few n86 that had stiff buttons etc,,any normal person would take it back and get refund/cancel contract or try another fone..Instead you have just come on here and vented your anger on one device which may have had fault,it happens.
Anonymous, 29 Oct 2010While you have every right to be pissed about your issues don't you think it would be more rat... moreFirstly I can't respect nameless comments -have some balls and a identity.
No I don't claim to be phone expert but I see that the phones that do deliver do have the faster processors and RAM so I am just using common sense.
Yes I think my phone was a faulty one but I still a lot of the faults will be common in even the 'non faulty' ones when really tested by an owner. As you do not own one you wouldn't know, as it first crashed on me after about 20 minutes on the internet.
I am just preparing people (like you) who are excited to be getting this phone, not to be expecting too much or you will feel gutted as I was.
Look around and see there are better phones than this, trust me I am doing you a favour but then again I wouldn't have listened to anyone telling that before I got one myself either.

can you admit that
if you think the cpu and ram is not enough
why buy the phone?

Glad you're back people have been acusing me of being just a troll.
I don't know if... moreWhile you have every right to be pissed about your issues don't you think it would be more rational to direct your anger somewhere more appropriate like at some service personnel? Clearly, your quota wasn't that of the majority. Though i haven't gotten mine yet, i've handled and i mean really tested 4 n8s till date. Opera mobile on gsmarena and full facebook, ovi maps in background and some other less relevant apps running, no slowing down. I couldn't manage to freeze any of them. Lags are a part of all devices with a true os. Android, symbian even non smart phones like the iphone lag. Arguing otherwise is plain stupidity and self deception. The only places where a lags were evident in the devices i tried were on opening the apps folder and in the ridiculous web browser.
Don't start with the processor argument cuz its irritating and stupid. What gives you the impression that a faster processor or more ram would solve your units problems? Do you know more than the professionals at nokia? Did your device give you out of memory errors before it froze? My 64bit win 7 running hp with its much praised 2.4ghz core i5 processor and 4gb ram lags on ghost recon. A 3 year old game. That too with processor running at just 39% and 1.2gb of ram free. Your device has issues, no doubt but if you feel you know how to solve them, i recommend you design your own smartphone.
Coming to singapore 5 november
i want to see all color before deciding what color to have
glad that default web browser and homescreen is updated
now justt hope for more some more apps and games
Wheez, 28 Oct 2010Yeah, in most cases its smart to not buy new phones. Both for the price and for the stability ... moreWhen you really believed in the power of N8 (before you got one) You had a lot more fight in you, but now you have one and have no doubt seen these faults yourself I feel that the wind has been taken out of you!
Only defending due to nokia loyalty and the hope for updates.
The truth is that the processor and RAM were not sufficient, do you agree? come on be honest?! or at least admit it would be nice to have these things upgraded?
Wheez, 28 Oct 2010Yeah, in most cases its smart to not buy new phones. Both for the price and for the stability ... moreI believe that is just (blind) Nokia loyalty and patriotism which I can understand as before this I would not even seriously look at a non Nokia phone. But now I have my eyes have been opened.
No the N8 is not on par with other top end phones it just has some unique features. The basic smart phone features such as speed, internet, widgets, or just the reliability to just work! it is behind.
I remember telling you that my gf's phone did the 'pop ups' on this page and her phone is old. The N8 has flash but couldn't open many sites i tried.
As you can see I am venting! thats because I had a lot of faith in this phone and feel like I've been cheated
Dwane, 28 Oct 2010No phone as of yet as I am still waiting on Vodafone to reset my commitment as Nokia have now ... moreYeah, in most cases its smart to not buy new phones. Both for the price and for the stability etc. Cant go much wrong with Desire :)
Im still totally satisfied with my purchase and would do it all over again any day
I wont use default browser, using opera
I wont use default browser, using opera
Wheez, 28 Oct 2010Which phone did you end up getting btw?No phone as of yet as I am still waiting on Vodafone to reset my commitment as Nokia have now confirmed to them that I have returned it.
I am planning on getting a HTC Desire as that is already tried and tested and reviewed well by all good sites. I will never get a brand new to the market phone again
i wanted to buy blue but it wasnt available so i have got s.white! I am so happy just cant xpress, everythng is perfect,no lags,no freezing, itz fast and responsive
Wheez, 28 Oct 2010I'd guess you might've had a faulty one. I've only had it reset like once during this time I'v... moreI honestly doubt it was just the once but why did you have to hard reset? my guess you were on the internet for more than about 20 minutes and then it totally froze. Just not good enough -I thought the delays were to fix these bugs?
It missed emails when syncing to my gmail too
The only advantage (for me) I see to an N8 after owning one is the good battery life. The tiny widgets are almost useless with some apps. Does most people really need a 12Mp camera.
If you need USB OTG then yes other wise I will sacrifice having to charge my phone everyday (which I do anyway and have a charger at work and car charger)
I was promised a bug free phone but it crashed more times in 5 days than my N95 8gb did in 3 years. I now can't trust Nokia to risk getting another one
Please be honest Wheez in my head I know you were underwhelmed too when you got over the initial novelty of the newness.
Dwane, 28 Oct 2010@wheez
Glad you're back people have been acusing me of being just a troll.
I don't know if... moreAnd I know your not blindly hating or anything, but just to add, those videos in reality have nothing to do with the truth about the device. "Monday copys" happen, but you would've gotten a brand new N8 had you just taken that back to Nokia.
Most people here and everywhere are satisfied with the purchase. It's exactly on par with the competition, it doesnt have to beat them in everything (or anything) if and when it does enough things well enough to outweight the other phones that may master few of those things and lack the other half.
Dwane, 28 Oct 2010@wheez Glad you're back people have been acusing me of being just a troll. I don't know if... moreWhich phone did you end up getting btw?
