Indeed, the lawsuits have sadly began to hurt Android. They are already late with the latest release and everyone is confused. It will be a while until we see how all this is going to end. I personally like Android with all its limitations but if it does not improve as expected it might just end up in the dustbin.

Infact there is no rationale behind that argument. Its getting sued because it violates patents. If the suits hold, your favourite os just might die a sorry death.
Why won't samsung drop symbian? They have their feature phone java based os, bada and android. Symbian is kind of a long term investment. One sure to pay off. Sony ericsson obviously can't afford the wait. They need to sell phones now.
The fact remains that come 5years from now, symbian will still remain the worlds preferred and best selling mobile os. And nokia, would remain the worlds largest manufacturer. Android, if it survives the storms, would be second, ios a distant third and the rest picking the scrubs. Black berry has no future beyond the us, uae and saudi arabia. Wp7 is dead on arrival (its just another iteration of ios and as we all know, isheep will always be isheep and so will their children and grandchildren). Bada is doomed. Its apocalypse is engraved in its codes.

Nokia N8's popularity continues to climb. In a months time it will be the most popular mobile phone on this website. Thank's in part to the Nokia haters and detractors, you are adding to it's popularity.

Here is my simple verdict about the N8. Got it last Saturday on pre-order
Great hardware, mediocre software. Android is miles ahead on Symbian here. And I don't want to talk about about the crappy browser.
Only Symbian user (by heart) would appreciate N8.

This is a notebook it got all the specs you have on a mobile phone it even has a hardware 3d processor. I can play almost any game out there, I can emulate all platforms.
So don’t fight YOU ALL DON’T KNOW what you are missing on your mobile device

Everything has to go to end... moreSymbian OS is not really outdated as some people like you is thinking, it is upgrading. Symbian OS continues to change & improve, see Symbian generations S20--S30---S40---S60---S90--UIQ---S2---S3 and coming soon is S4. This is just like Windows OS for computers that continues to change and improved. The big difference between Symbian and other mobile phone OS is it's being lightweight and fully open-source.

I beg to differ. I too have the iPhone and just sold my Galaxy S on eBay. And yes, just received the N8 last Friday. Although Symbian is old is very streamed lined and works 101%. Multitasking is basically non existent in iPhone and Android has a cumbersome way of dealing with it. Symbian on the other hand is 'born' to multitask. Of course the graphics in the camera menu is old but it works and it works well and here is where Nokia scores. The video zoom is the best ever in a cell phone. I still have not figured out how they do that. N8 will rule the market for a while - if the Nokia haters agree or not :-)

I owned and owning the HTC Desire, BB 9800, iPhone and had experience with most other phones such as Samsung Galaxy S and Wave. I had to buy the Nokia N8 since i bought Nokia for over 15 years and had to stop buying about two years ago due to many problems. Anyhow, I think N8 is great phone compare with other Nokia phones in past but it is not as good a my other 3 phone. The quality of phone, Camera are great. But problem is the Old and outdated OS by Nokia. Even gsmarena admit this i their review. Why Nokia no start with new generation of OS and give up on Symb.?

Everything has to go to end after so many years that i why Symb. OS is no longer good and popular. Everything by time change can not sell same OS for so many years. Before software tech was not so advance and now is. So, Nokia has to let go and Adopt to new OS made by them or outside source. Even can see in gsmarena suggest same about Nokia Symb is outdated and behind Androind, and iSO 4. why you guys so closed minded and no help Nokia do better in future instead want to stay with the old thing
