Oh and 1 more thing when i asked the nokia guy about the availability i was told that those who preordered the n8 will be getting theres by 15th to 20th of this month and when i asked him when it will be available to the general customers...he said that it will take TWO FREAKIN MONTHs...i dont believe him...i think he doesnt know what he's talkin about...:(

Nokia N8 does everything the Desire HD or iPhone4 can do, some things maybe not just as well, but not badly either. In addition to this, N8 does so many things iPhone 4 and HTCs can only dream about.
I rather have a phone that isn't the fastest of prettiest but is actually capable, isntead of being pigeonholed into a niche of app store and smooth transitions.
They are great devices, but still not for me.

This is what I'm reading about the speaker.

For me the speaker is very important to be loud, but still decent quality. The opinions about the speaker are very opposing. Can someone make clear how good/bad the speaker is? (compared to other phones?)

http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobile... moreiOS is good at what it can do. The thing is however, it is so limited in what it can do. While I love the smoothness and fastness of it, I could never settle with iPhone myself.
Simply cos my 4 year old phone does twice the things iPhone would ever do.
Also, HTC Desire HD or iPhone 4 don't have stuff like free offline sat nav comparable to OVI maps, no FM transmitter, no USB OnTheGo, battery life as good as N8.
They also have LCD screens, meaning I can't have screensaver clock on the screen. This alone is a HUGE thing for me, cos my cellphone is my only clock.
I guess nice review, but it doesn't hold true for everyone.

yo guyz...i went to the nokia priority dealer (chennai) to check out the n8...and i must say the built quality is simply superb...the camera and video recording was just awesum...the software was pretty fast...i wont say everything was flying...but is faster than previous nokia models i hav seen barring the n900...however the software lagged a little at some places like when i played the full movie inception and tried to forward it the video freezed and i had to press the menu button to get outta there...but the video playback was awesum...i played the tron(hd) trailer and i was really stunned...the music playback through the speaker was quite good...the speaker was loud enough...i really liked the pinch to zoom...it was smooth as a butter...but it could be improved in the web browser though...and 1 more thing i never really liked nfs...but i enjoyed it playing it over the n8...no lag no cluttering...the n8 played it real smooth...so i really liked it and am thinking of buying it

Sagar, 10 Oct 2010the other symbian phones of nokia dont support graphical smileys in messages.. what about n8??Yes it does support it, but it will appear as normal emoticons on other phones besides N8

Also, by what logic if N8 exceeded all previous preorder records of Nokia, would the N8 sell SLOWER than the earlier phones? That makes no sense, if it already made a record :D

Anonymous, 10 Oct 2010n8 sells so slow. 10 days preorder in EU and still not 1 million!! I thought loads of nokia fa... moreJust cos they havn't announced it doesnt mean it hasnt been exceeded. 1 million units sold for a company like Nokia is nothing.
Also, many people are waiting for the parallel models, E7, C6-01, C7. While the Apple-fans had to get that one single model or wait a whole year for the next iPhone.
Things arnt so black and white. Why do you keep trolling here? Nobody still wants to talk about the god damn iPhone, this is the N8 page!

It can be used as a TV reciever with a set of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-H compatible headsets that Nokia will sell.
Also has WebTV that at least in Finland came with a few local channels and then few universal like CNN and Nat. Geo.

And again it doesn't even come close to the phonebook of froyo, froyo adds all the related content of the contact in tabs like the recent photos uploaded, recent posts on Fb n twitter
