Mark, 05 Oct 2010Actually, I think the new Nokia AMOLED is better than Samsung S-AMOLED. You see, Samsung uses ... moreMark, I read that. So I know about the pentile matrix already and the blue-red subpixels adjacent to every green pixel :) Also, there is this website called www.displaymate.com ... I don't know if you have heard of em, they are kind of big in display calibration and the works, and they kind of awarded S-Amoled for being the Best New Mobile Display Technology Award, you know for being a huge leap forward from your conventional Amoleds ?
I am yet to read that Amoleds are better than S-Amoleds, unless you'd reckon that Samsung pays every reviewer to not say a bad word about it ? This very website you're on went gaga over it if you remember. :)
Then again, you'd know who develops 98% of Amoleds don't you ? Samsung, and a company usually doesn't design a new technology to be worst than its previous one.
And I'd even think of entertaining your view if N8 was using CBD, but you tell me that it's normal Amoled is better by S-Amoled ?
Anyway, I'd advice you to check one out and then talk. I will do the same. Peace !
no support samsung and no signal iphone dont even compare to N8,and why comment N8 if you not gonna buy it and you dont own it
[deleted post]It really depends on your what your needs are. It is not possible to give you a good answer because you haven't given us any info on what you want out of a smartphone. Also, you named the N8, but you did not specifically name which BlackBerry phone you are considering. There are many different BlackBerry phones out there.
Has anyone read the N8 camera review on allaboutsymbian.com? Check it out. They did criticize the camera and, obviously, praised it wherever applicable. Worth a read for every N8 users/buyers.
If you want to see pics taken by me with the N8, search for "veijojarvi" in the search box on this page. I've taken them with default settings and with no earlier experience of photographing.
Does anyone in the UK have their phone yet ? i am still being told end of October by Nokia !!!!
Follower, 05 Oct 2010N8 Camera review here.
Base... moreThat comparison has nothing to do with the truth. Eldar hates Nokia cos they didnt give him a contract some years back.
Compare that review to this: http://thehandheldblog.com/2010/10/04/shootout-nokia-n8-v-canon-550d-dslr/

Are you getting paid from Nokia for prasing N8 ,more than it deserves??I wish, would make poor students life alot easier.
I think it deserves all the praising ive given it here. Most people who own the device share the same feeling with me
I came here to read about Nokia N8 and user's experience when SUDDENLY facing samsung/iphone/htc/whatever fanboys posting...
If I want samsung I would go there not coming here in the first place grrrr.
Wheez, 05 Oct 2010Haa! I found "SIP options" (translated from finnish :D) from the phone. I don't get ... morethat sounds very promising. Where did you find the settings for creating new SIP profiles, I presume under "admin.settings" right? Now, if you could also find "net settings" in the same menu, it would be perfect as the category "net settings" is required for editing and modifying advanced VoIP settings :)
btw, thanks a lot your efforts are greatly appreciated.
N8 Camera review here.
Based on this review;
Top features of N8 (Camera) was easily beaten by outdated Samsung Pixon12 and just slightly ahead of a 5MP ordinary cam in Samsung Wave & iphone 4.
Top notch camera phone in the Nokia siblings only.
Just above average for camera.
Not good for macro shots, Wave especially Pixon 12 is way ahead. Excellent for long distance shots.
Can't get natural colors compare to Pixon 12.
Video is not comparable to that of Samsung Wave.
SE Satio(12MP) has better camera quality than N8.
Pixon 12 again has better result at night shots where both phones have xenon flash.
Pictures don't tell lies.
Aside from those points I mentioned N8 Camera is great.
I just said what I understand on that review of N8 camera.
sukrsa, 05 Oct 2010Hi Wheez/All, What I understood, if swype is installed in N8, it will solve “Qwerty key board... moreI have the Swype beta installed on my N97. It does give you a qwerty in portrait. Althought I am more comfortable using the physical qwerty, I leave Swype on for those occasions when I do not want to flip open the keyboard and use the phone in portrait such as when it is in my car mount. I would expect that it would be the same for the N8.

sukrsa, 05 Oct 2010Hi Wheez/All,
What I understood, if swype is installed in N8, it will solve “Qwerty key board... moreYou could maybe try asking that from some Nokia tech service or something to ensure it's the real deal if you're suspicious.
Mine says Made in Finland and I read that all finnish made would say that and all china made would say Made by Nokia, which I sort of understand cos basically everything thats produced in masses, good quality or not from toys to socks says Made in China, so it may sound too generic.
However I really can't comment anything certain on this issue cos naturally we only have Made in Finlands here in Finland..
sukrsa, 05 Oct 2010Hi Wheez/All, What I understood, if swype is installed in N8, it will solve “Qwerty key board... moreAt least on every other phone Swype has enabled portraidmode qwerty. It's still in beta though and N8 (or my language) is not supported yet.
