Also, Opera Mini and Opera Mobile are perfectly supported apart from pinch to zoom, which is a shame, so if you find the browser lacking, those are probably better options in all cases but the pinch to zoom. I'm sticking with the original browser for the pinch to zoom.
Anonymous, 03 Oct 2010How is the vibration when someone calls ? Is it strong or weak ? Can you feel it in your pocke... moreVibration is enough for me, but I guess it depends abit on your pants, if the phone was in contact with your leg you can easily feal it, but if you have abit looser pants you may not feel it. Hard to say.
I havn't used S60 (as in owned), but the N8 supports the same apps. The only difference is the screen and possibly resolution, many apps will probably work as they are, but for the ones that don't, it would be at least very easy for the devs to port it on the N8.
The web browsing is nice, but the current browser isn't the best. Another finnish guy who has the phone said he did comparison between his old N900 and the N8 using the same WLAN and same pages and N8 was faster every time. However, the N8s browser seems to lack a way to manually open a new window/tab. It supports em, but I havnt figured out any sensemaking manual way to open one. One way to do that is search something by google, open the result, which it opens into new window, then use this new window to whatever you wanted to do. Certainly not user friendly or simple, though. There's a new browser coded with Qt on the way though, so that won't be an issue for long, I guess.
yet another bad review of nokia n8 :(
How is the vibration when someone calls ? Is it strong or weak ? Can you feel it in your pocket ? I have a Samsung Jet, and it's very weak. I want to have no sound, only vibration on. I'm considering buying the N8 because of that.
Wheez, 03 Oct 2010Feel free to ask me, if you want to. I've owned the device since thursday.Please tell me about it's web browser.
Can you please tell me if this phone has a native SIP client to use voip.(internet telephone as is on nokia n82).....
When this Nokia n8 is going to release in Dubai , Axiom telecomunication has taken 500 dirhams for booking but still Nokia N8 is not availabe.
This time Nokia has really showed sooooooooo lazyness , I really Love Nokia but they way they are working is very slow like tortois walk.
WAKE UP NOKIA !!!
Yeah, I ordered mine in blue too. Very nice indeed. Did you use the s60 before? Can you load and play programs written for the N95 and N97? That is very very important for me.
[deleted post]The phone has been released in some countries. I got mine already on thursday.
For someone else asking:
I havn't had any hangs on it, it's very swift.
I personally won't use a screen protector. It's gorilla glass and should be basically immune against those little scratches. Also not having anything else in the same pocket as your phone helps alot.
I would rate it 4,5/5, mainly for the sake of not wanting to give anything full rating cos nothing's perfect :D
I don't mind the default theme/fonts, but I'd guess fonts could be changeable by themes if nothing else.
Anonymous, 02 Oct 2010Can we use the bluetooth mouse to zoom in the photo on n8? Why nokia does not make bluet... moreI've seen videos that shows it is possible to have both a bluetooth keyboard and bluetooth mouse connected to the n8 and use it anywhere in the phone.

Wheez, 03 Oct 2010Feel free to ask me, if you want to. I've owned the device since thursday.Have you ever experienced any hang on nokia n8?
Do we need screeen protector for n8
any internet radion youtube video downloader?
Can upload some more screen shot of threaded sms, smiley,your way of homescreen customization,
how to change font?
can nokia N8 be charged by connecting it to a laptop USB port like iphones and blackberry. thanks
Other than that, I'm VERY VERY satisfied with the N8 and would not trade it for an iPhone 4 or any Android phone if I was offered to.
A good thing to note on techradars review is the user rating. Naturally they arn't necessarily any more objective either, but like the first user reviewer at least mentions USB OTG.
So take the official reviews with a grain of salt as well.
I can't reflect like any of the feelings they shed there. My biggest issue with the phone currently is that the original browser somehow seems to lack a feature to open a new window/tab. You can still do that with a trick, but it could/should be alot easier. Well, a new browser written in Qt is on it's way anyways.
Here's some more "proof" about the Android/iPhone mindset the reviewers had:
* Funky good looks
* 12-megapixel camera can challenge a compact snapper
* Responsive capacitive touchscreen
* Software is confusing and frustrating in places
* Fewer apps available than with rival phones
* Poor social-networking integration
Superb battery life
Clear and crisp screen
Decent audio output
Stylish aluminium casing
Average virtual keyboards
Unimpressive internet experience
Confusing connection management
Awful social network integration
Both seemed to clearly ignore like one of the most important things for me and many others. Let's take the USB OTG. "Ehm, what's this, the iphone doesnt have it, well I'll just not mention it". It's naturally OK if you you don't personally value it, but it certainly deserves a mention. That's how you write objectively. For example it could've been "While I personally don't have much use for the USB OnTheGo, I can see it being valued by many"
Utter bullshit is what those reviews are
