I just wonder what all these CNN, BBC.. icons are all about, and can you wipe them out the screen whenever you don't need them?! My major concern is wheteher Nokia N8 has the samsunglike organizer(tasks, convertor, calendar, stopwatch, timer..), which I'm so used to because of frequent abroad travel and working out?! Thanx!

To all that say that The Home screen is slightly laggy because it uses live/Active widgets eg. BBC, CNN, Email, Social networking and many more unlike the Android and iPhone which uses mainly just icons which are really just shortcuts. So in this aspect I think Nokia is miles ahead. Not to mention why do you want to open the battery compartment as the SIM and Memory card slots are exterior. Therefore the slight lag as its trying to retrieve info. Just my two cents.

When are you people going to understand, a better lookin UI with tons of animations doesn't make a OS better. IOS (the proclamed king of the eyecandy) lacks a lot of features such as bluetooth file transfer to tell one, Android (the new contender) may look "cool" because of all its transitions, effects and customization but the way it handles the processes is really rubish and that's why it needs those monster processors wich drains the battery in 5-8 hours. Only thing I can agree with some of the haters here is that Symbian needs more usefull apps, I don't know why many developers stopped making apps for Symbian (maybe it's to hard to program for Symbian or it doesn't give as much profits as other OS's) but Nokia is working to make programing for Symbian easier (Qt) and more profitable so maybe we'll see a lot of apps coming to symbian in the next months.

Hey, my electric blue N8 has been posted to me :-) Should be in my hands by Tuesday morning. Come, bring it on baby . . . Bluetooth 3.0 is the feature I am after. Yeah, my laptop has it too. It will be lighting fast to stream video to my hidef flatscreen. Who needs blueray discs anymore? :-)
[deleted post]Obviously u didn't passed math, the n8 was officially announced months ago...it brings new symbian 3, with new features, that i haven't seen on any other phone (Android or Iphone). I think the company with really slow speed on advancing it's OS is apple, just this year with iphone 4 they bring videocalls "over wifi" and only with "another iphone" like it's something new that never existed...my old nokia n73 (4 years old) can do that with symbian S60 V3. No bluetooth files sharing, no files manager, no "Flash" support on the browser, etc, etc, etc,. Think u should think twice before talking none sense
I'm not hating on the N8. I'm actually getting this phone. I was just wondering though if perhaps the video frame rate could potentially be increased to 30fps through a future software update. It seems that the Broadcom BPU is capable of it so I hope so!!
It's really funny to see all the nokia haters here. I doubt the nokia fans go on ios or android phones and hate.
Buy what you want, what you like and be happy.
The video recording seems a little jerky and that is perhaps a result of the 25fps frame rate. I'm confused though why NOKIA designed this at 25fps because according to Broadcom's documentation the BCM2727 GPU that does all the image/video processing for the N8 is capable of doing 30fps. The link below gives a high level description of the BCM2727.

Phone Freak, 02 Oct 2010This phone would truly rock if it had Android OS on it.. imagine Nokia hardware (No. 1) and AN... moreWhat is it good about this phone is rocking? I am totaly confuse with all you guys. This is old and outdated phone should of came out year ago with old software.
I think Microsoft have officially reinvented the User Interface with Windows Phone 7. Stopped using Nokia after the N97 nonsense now use Android and love it but after seeing what Microsoft have cooked up, the competition is only beginning. All they need is handset designed to complement the UI and game's a bogey for some. Lets hope there won't be too many problems like it usually is with Symbian OS
scotty, 01 Oct 2010it dosent say if this phone has a 1ghz cpu in it, like the samsung wave and galaxity, if i kno... moreThe phone doesn't need a 1 ghz processor . S^3 does not waste power like android. Symbian is old and much more stable and useful in these situations. Besides it has one of the best broadcom graphics accelerator . ^.^ don't worry your 3d games will work smoothly and the phone will NOT be laggy
