Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010N8 has same processor and ram that are used in 3gs. These 2 r most important for smartphoneI knew well whats important for smartfones, but only Nokia N8 from those is a smartphone.
Tomas, 23 Sep 2010How you can compare Nokia smartphone with iPhone 3GS, you under the drugs ?N8 has same processor and ram that are used in 3gs. These 2 r most important for smartphone
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010N8 is as good as 3GS i agreeHow you can compare Nokia smartphone with iPhone 3GS, you under the drugs ?
Wheez, 23 Sep 2010Well, that's not exactly true. You can have multiple things open at once but it's not true mul... moreWhat's the point let games keep on playing when u check email. Whenu go back ur character is being shot!!apple knows what users want best and that's only reason why ipod and iphones so popular with groundbreaking specs but with ace UI
Wheez, 23 Sep 2010Well, that's not exactly true. You can have multiple things open at once but it's not true mul... moreThat what I meant, no real multitasking on iphone and if there's frozen tasks it won't be any better than other phones as other solutions can do better in that regard.
[deleted post]"I've used XT720 which has 720MHz with latest sw and still slow in performance."
Blame it on inefficient heavyweight OS.
Peter, 23 Sep 2010Remember, you can't Multitask on iphone.Well, that's not exactly true. You can have multiple things open at once but it's not true multitasking when compared to Nokias for example. The different however isn't that big.
iPhone only has a handful of applications it actually allows to RUN on the background, for example the music player. Most applications it freezes, so if for example you were playing a game and then multitask away, the game would freeze, however on the N8 the game would keep running (and also take more resources).
Many of the things you'll end up multitasking on the N8 wont actually be running on the background either, like say the browser (unless theres flash), writing SMS, the maps (unless you keep moving also and thus it actually needs to do something too), etc.
So while the difference isn't huge in reality, but it's still yet another restriction that might backlash back at you some day, I rather have real multitasking anyways than have it the iPhone 4 way, but the difference really isn't big.
Wheez, 23 Sep 2010Reposting this video so we can all flush the bad taste from our mouths that came with the Noki... moreThat's not even gaming since symbian no games!! I can already see lag at photo swipes. BTW N8 copies apple's coverflow as well for both photos and music. Multitouch starts fr iphone as well.
Reposting this video so we can all flush the bad taste from our mouths that came with the Nokia World 2010 videos :D
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010I just checked the glbenchmark website and did the comparison for 4 devices.. and the results ... moreIt says that there's 3 pretty even devices with strenghts in slightly different areas, the xperia falls short in quite abit too many compared to the others, though. It's not about the ability to win benchmarks either. At least around here the Galaxy S is more expensive than the N8. It's not that Nokia wouldnt be able to put in super monster specs, but especially still these days, it's off especially from battery life. Nokia usually makes balanced devices and the N8 is no different. Competetive specs for a good price with more features than the others.
Some of you are getting this all wrong, you think I'm trying to prove the N8 is the best, I don't. It's the best option for me but what is best for who depends on the person. I'm trying to show that against common misconception, the N8 isnt "omg so slow only 680mhz" cos of the GPU. Sure, you can see that it does worse in some aspects due to the lower CPU, but on the contrary it's stronger in others. Personally I don't care about benchmarks, I'm buying the N8 for it's features and looks I can't get from other phones out there.
But I don't know what you are trying to prove here anyway. This is the N8 site, if we wanna discuss the iPhone 4, we'd head to the iPhone 4 page.
It's a great device, nobody with brains denies that. It just offers very little to nothing for me. I'm buying the N8 for it's features, most of which the iPhone lacks. I personally think the iPhone is pretty ugly which is already one reason I won't even consider it.
It's perfectly ok to like a phone, but you don't have to come here to yell it, we don't really care around here. As said, if we wanna discuss the iPhone 4, we'll come to the iPhone 4 page.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010N8 will be epic fail when every high end phone are 1Ghz 512 ram and mid ranges are 680MHz and ... morejust look at the benchmarks, hardly looks like epic fail compared to ur so called high end phones
N8 will be epic fail when every high end phone are 1Ghz 512 ram and mid ranges are 680MHz and 256ram. Nokia charge high end price for mid range phone with just because of 12mp camera
I have seen original demo N8 in Soundtech in Cyprus. Come on Nokia, start shipping, please. The amazing is that they have in stock various original accessories. Once the N8 start selling, all those colorful original cases will be selling like hot potatoes.
Wheez, 23 Sep 2010Learn to reading comprehension. I said it doesn't have a dedicated one. It has an integrated S... moreI just checked the glbenchmark website and did the comparison for 4 devices.. and the results are not that good... I am a Nokia N8 fan but the results are scary...
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010It's not yet delivered..., any chance to use clear black display - let say for upgrade version... moreThe CBD is very unlikely to come to N8, after all it's a whole different screen and I doubt they would upgrade later manufactured phones with them, they'll probably just put em into E7 and C7 or whatever they said they'll put it in.
It's a shame cos it looks pretty nice and all, but personally I'm not that sad about it, I understood CBD works better sunlight, but other than that I'm personally very happy with the current AMOLED too.
