-usb on the go
-not HDMI because I don't think I would ever use it
-Symbian's possibilities
-12MP I will NOT miss, the size of the sensor though I will as-well as the xenon flash though I'm getting 2xLED instead so not really too bad
-sturdiness
-and the most of all, I will miss Ovi maps
if the N8 would be 300 euros with an 8mp camera (same sensor size, also Carl Zeiss) I would buy it. But frankly 480 euro's for a device that's not at all a flagship is too much. I can't imagine what they're going to ask for their MeeGo phone then, like 800 euros??
Matt, 24 Sep 2010No way Wheez is talking about the E7. If there's anyone here who should know that it's gonna b... moreYeah, you guys are right, messed it up with C7, although I was 99% certain it was exactly E7 and not C7 :D
Although I could understand it being cheaper, it's supposed to lack a fair amount of features cos it's "only" E-series, but I guess the QWERTY does something to the price as well..

I think the E7's price without taxes was gonna be around 500 euro's (unofficially) so count on a 650 euros price tag
I'm a real Nokia fanboy. I have always loved Symbian ever since the first time I used it on a Nokia 7650. I was looking forward to the N8 so much, but now I have given up the wait. The (in my opinion!!) reasons why are these:
-Nokia doesn't give the impression to acknowledge that they need to step up their game (an N8 of E7 alone will NOT be enough) and they didn't even mention MeeGo at Nokia World, total disappointment
-Off course, the continuous delays
-What's Nokia's flagship phone now? Nobody knows, do they even have one?
-they announce the N8, lot of people fall in love with it and then even before it is released, they announce another phone with some specs the N8 should have had! The N8 really starts to lose it's top of the (nokia) line name (simple AMOLED, quite thick phone,no eye candy)
-and a lot more
Wheez, 24 Sep 2010E7 is cheaper than N8. Atleast preorders are currently in finnish nokia online storeOr maybe it's the c7 you're talking about. I checked the europe nokia site and seen that c7 and n8 are the only touchphone available for pre-orders. I've always known c7 to be cheaper.
andy burgin, 24 Sep 2010Nokias trying to make the N8 a xmas boom one,but they shouldn"t have leaked the phone out... moreWell, if Nokia goes to Windows, they will loose more customers than anyone could ever imagine, you can count on that!
Don't worry, they will stick with Intel, and continue to develop Meego, which will undoubtedly rock the world
Nokias trying to make the N8 a xmas boom one,but they shouldn"t have leaked the phone out to early making everyone anxious to buy it,its going to really checked out more now with the delays,an hope Symbian3 is more advanced than we are expecting,an with Windows 7 mobiles on the way an Nokia just set on a Ex-Microsoft team Employee,he might persuede Nokia to work with Microsoft an make a new software for Nokia mobiles then Nokia might not need Symbian4,so hope this does happen an get Nokia competeting more
hayato, 24 Sep 2010The game optimization is indeed the problem, IMO.
My nokia 5630 running 600mhz for example,... moreOwned a psp, loved it, sold it because I didn't play on it
Owned a second psp, loved it, sold it because I didn't play on it
Own a iPhone 3GS, love the games, never play them...
goes without saying that I don't give a rats ass about gaming on a cell phone, it just has to work smoothly
by the way I really don't understand why Nokia optimised the album coverflow this much. Okay it looks perfect, but imagine if they would have put this amount of work in the transitions of portrait to landscape, of the swiping of the home screens
After desperately wanting to buy the N8 for months, now I don't want it anymore. Good job Nokia!! this is 100% thanks to the delays. I'm all con iPhone (although I have one) but I'm starting to be pro Android because their 2.2 really looks interesting
Wheez, 24 Sep 2010E7 is cheaper than N8. Atleast preorders are currently in finnish nokia online storereally?! That makes sense. I'm always a bit confused since e7 announcement why it would cost more than n8. A qwerty can't be more expensive hardware than 12mp autofocus camera. Haha, now e7 makes complete sense than before. How i wish it would stay that way.

Nokia N86 already have Panorama mode. So may be Nokia N8 also have this.

My nokia 5630 running 600mhz for example, has a lot of lags on asphalt 4. However, need for speed undercover is really smooth, of course you can't compare the graphics with higher resolution phone, but that's not the point. There's hardly any visible frame-skipping in nfs undercover. Unlike in asphat 4 which looks like a 5fps cctv footage. One second you're car is there as if you teleported. It's ridiculous, and provided that i didn't cared about it before. Crash nitro cart is running smooth too.
It's all a matter of perfect compatibility, i guess. Asphalt 4 is actually not OS 9.3 optimized, it runs much better on other s60 3rd ed phone with OS 9.1 and 9.2, i just installed it to my 5630 whilst the 'not compatible' warning. And it works! Not perfectly though. And i'm quite sure that's the problem n8 is currently facing right now. If game makers can't find a way to fully utilize the n8's resources, if they can't make their games run efficiently, given the fact that they're used to 1ghz processors which gives them more room in hiding their bugs(just my humble presumption), we can't expect any smooth running/1ghz-feel games for the n8.
I can always choose a pc/game console to play games anyway, so i guess, i have learned to accept the fact that gaming is not a big deal in choosing a smartphone. It will always be better though, if the future holds something for n8's gaming improvement. And on other symbian 680mhz-running OS, like e7, as well.
Rose, 24 Sep 2010Got a call from (Nokia The connections), N8 Available after October 3rd. Bangalorer u sure is it gonna cum on oct 3?

Anonymous, 24 Sep 2010I think 680mhz of N8 can be easily overclocked to 900mhz if itz needed !Although that will probably kill the battery life, also in mobile phones that can really shorten the phones life.
