Peter, 23 Sep 2010Remember, you can't Multitask on iphone.Well, that's not exactly true. You can have multiple things open at once but it's not true multitasking when compared to Nokias for example. The different however isn't that big.
iPhone only has a handful of applications it actually allows to RUN on the background, for example the music player. Most applications it freezes, so if for example you were playing a game and then multitask away, the game would freeze, however on the N8 the game would keep running (and also take more resources).
Many of the things you'll end up multitasking on the N8 wont actually be running on the background either, like say the browser (unless theres flash), writing SMS, the maps (unless you keep moving also and thus it actually needs to do something too), etc.
So while the difference isn't huge in reality, but it's still yet another restriction that might backlash back at you some day, I rather have real multitasking anyways than have it the iPhone 4 way, but the difference really isn't big.
Wheez, 23 Sep 2010Reposting this video so we can all flush the bad taste from our mouths that came with the Noki... moreThat's not even gaming since symbian no games!! I can already see lag at photo swipes. BTW N8 copies apple's coverflow as well for both photos and music. Multitouch starts fr iphone as well.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010I just checked the glbenchmark website and did the comparison for 4 devices.. and the results ... moreIt says that there's 3 pretty even devices with strenghts in slightly different areas, the xperia falls short in quite abit too many compared to the others, though. It's not about the ability to win benchmarks either. At least around here the Galaxy S is more expensive than the N8. It's not that Nokia wouldnt be able to put in super monster specs, but especially still these days, it's off especially from battery life. Nokia usually makes balanced devices and the N8 is no different. Competetive specs for a good price with more features than the others.
Some of you are getting this all wrong, you think I'm trying to prove the N8 is the best, I don't. It's the best option for me but what is best for who depends on the person. I'm trying to show that against common misconception, the N8 isnt "omg so slow only 680mhz" cos of the GPU. Sure, you can see that it does worse in some aspects due to the lower CPU, but on the contrary it's stronger in others. Personally I don't care about benchmarks, I'm buying the N8 for it's features and looks I can't get from other phones out there.
But I don't know what you are trying to prove here anyway. This is the N8 site, if we wanna discuss the iPhone 4, we'd head to the iPhone 4 page.
It's a great device, nobody with brains denies that. It just offers very little to nothing for me. I'm buying the N8 for it's features, most of which the iPhone lacks. I personally think the iPhone is pretty ugly which is already one reason I won't even consider it.
It's perfectly ok to like a phone, but you don't have to come here to yell it, we don't really care around here. As said, if we wanna discuss the iPhone 4, we'll come to the iPhone 4 page.

N8 will be epic fail when every high end phone are 1Ghz 512 ram and mid ranges are 680MHz and 256ram. Nokia charge high end price for mid range phone with just because of 12mp camera
I have seen original demo N8 in Soundtech in Cyprus. Come on Nokia, start shipping, please. The amazing is that they have in stock various original accessories. Once the N8 start selling, all those colorful original cases will be selling like hot potatoes.

Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010It's not yet delivered..., any chance to use clear black display - let say for upgrade version... moreThe CBD is very unlikely to come to N8, after all it's a whole different screen and I doubt they would upgrade later manufactured phones with them, they'll probably just put em into E7 and C7 or whatever they said they'll put it in.
It's a shame cos it looks pretty nice and all, but personally I'm not that sad about it, I understood CBD works better sunlight, but other than that I'm personally very happy with the current AMOLED too.
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010Ipod was not first Mp3 player but was the first mp3 which is nice looking and friendly to use.... moreYou are right about the resistive part and few other things iPhone made well and popular, but those are two features which Nokia has maybe taken from Apple, however Nokia has 12 patent breach cases against Apple at the moment. Apple (and pretty much every other manufacturer) is just free riding on the research and development Nokia has done during the last 40 years or so.
Also, Nokia had real videocalling like 5 years ago, iPhone got it like what, this year and it requires wifi to work, unlike Nokias videocalling 5 years ago that worked on normal telephone connections? I dunno about the software, but Nokia has done the whole videocalling thing before and better.

phones fan, 23 Sep 2010when the iphone was announced in the USA a lot of people there acted as if they never had used... moreIpod was not first Mp3 player but was the first mp3 which is nice looking and friendly to use. Iphone was not first smartphone but makes browsing on the smartphone possible by capacitive. Why everyone starts using capacitive now including nokia when they traditionally use resistive. Why everyone copy iphone coverflow and multitouch?? Why everyone wants to be an iphone killer which simply shows iphone is a benchmark for smartphone. Why nobody create a videocalling sotfware as good as iphone 4 when they introduced videocalling??
Anonymous, 23 Sep 2010iphone 4 has no GPU? u stupid!! go n buy one and explore.N8 is 430 pounds and iphone 4 is 480 ... moreLearn to reading comprehension. I said it doesn't have a dedicated one. It has an integrated System on Chip GPU. It's not bad, but a dedicated is always better.
iPhone can actually use it's GPU to rendering the UI though, Android cant, so thumbs up for iPhone on that :D Or more like thumbs down for Android on that, it seems like an obvious feature.
Not related to your comment, but here are some benchmark comparisons between the popular devices and the N8:

[deleted post]What makes it a bad phone? The CPU is lower than others but compensated by a dedicated GPU which others dont have, it's cheaper than the iPhone, for example. Have you tried the Symbian^3 to know it's bad? It's features still beat Android and iOS quite easily, it looks the same but it's a new OS comapred to 5th edition. Design is a matter of preference, I love the looks of N8 and like it alot more than iPhone or any Samsung/HTC. The display is said to be amongst the best on the market and considering Super AMOLED is not an option for non-Samsungs, not much else to hope for. Can't comment on sound but whats wrong with video?
It's simply maybe the best balanced phone out there. It has the camera niche, but it's very balanced in every other aspect too
