i have just had a play with the nokia N8 today we had a nokia rep in today with it, it feels nice in your hands and the screen and camra is brilliant but the synbian softwear on the nokia is easy to use but very slow to react and the responce is slow from the phone.
the 1 i had a play with had 3 home screens on it but everything was quite large on screen so you couldn`t fit much on the screen even though it made it easiyer to use i diddnt think to much of the phone at all in my oppinon the phone was
slow between screens and options

items are too big on screen
but it has good points
feels nice in your hand
the touch screen is nice to use
the camera is reli reli good with a good flash

They know symbian like theis own pockets, but thus may be biased. You think a review made by a diehard ip4 fan is better then? Id love to comment on the rest too but typing on my old E65 so maybe later

@ Sam : SAM i am also from KOLKATA and I want to pre-order the N8. But can you tell me which store did you pre-order from and how are you so sure about the price? I checked out with the Nokia Priority store at Ekdalia and they told me that the price is definitely more than 27000 INR and they are asking for a booking amount of 5000 INR. If you can tell me the store where you have pre-booked your set, I can find out for myself and if I find that convincing enough, I will also pre-book the blue one for myself. I actually want to purchase a new handset before the impending Pujas.

the only thing this phone has going for it that others dont have are usb on the go, and penta band connection.
the usb on the go is too situational imo, unless you plan to carry a cable with you all day. the apps arnt all that great since most developers go with an OS that makes them money, so unless nokia some how steps there game up in the next year or so you wont see anything great from ovi. also symbian 4 should be coming sometime next year which makes me wonder if nokia will put any effort into its S3 lineup.
from all the videos i've seen via youtube about this phone, including ones from nokia world 2010, im disappointed. the phone is laggy in certain menus yet fluid in others, why? the pinch to zoom on photos is garbage, and the LACK of pinch to zoom in the maps is laughable. there is simply no excuse for nokia to make a phone that still lags the way it does, for the selling price that they are asking for, not to mention the wait times.
i was originally with nokia, loved my n86 to death, then got an iphone 4, love it, but i miss customizations and what not, so im going galaxy S soon and will hopefully settle on android for the time being.
for anyone looking to get this phone, dont expect anyhing too great, symbian 4 is where i think nokia will do much better but for now, there isnt anything great with symbian 3.

Try to see your local Nokia store, if it says there, its correct :D

Well looks like the verdicts out. The US and UK website have changed end of sept to end of oct. Hope this phone comes while we are still young
