Gurpreet, 21 Jan 2013whats this all about carol ? why you mentioning my name in ? :@I apologize if that guy wasn't you, though i still feel it was you... but i apologize. Nothing personal.
Carol, 21 Jan 2013Hey , the thing is a bit tricky but plese read as many times as you need to figure it out what... moreMy phone consumed 0.02W, 4 mA, -60dBm (network strength I think), 8 mAh when in locked screen condition with best profiles and dailycop running in the background.
No incoming / outgoing call and incoming / outgoing SMS occurred during the test period.
Is it normal?. I tested in strong (all network bars were visible in pure white colour) signal area only.
How is the AMOLED screen compared to the N9 AMOLED screen? I'm not talking about ppi/resolution, but more about the contrast, colours and the blacks. I found the N9 screen one of the best. But I'm still thinking about buying this phone too.

I used to enjoy battling the Trolls on this forum but gave up a long time ago. I used to also help people out quite a lot, similar to how you are helping people out too. Keep up the good work :-)
Good News Guyx ....
Another software update is on the pipeline for 1st generation s^3 ..... so be ready
Carol, 21 Jan 2013Hey , the thing is a bit tricky but plese read as many times as you need to figure it out what... moreI found the line switching virtual button. I will do the test(s) full fledged and reply you in this area. Thanks for your response.
Can you post your N8 phone's power usage (in mA and W) without background applications running under these conditions :
> in a strong GSM network area.
> in weak GSM network area.
> in strong 3G network area.
> in weak 3G network area.
Weak network means with single network bar.
AnonD-20890, 21 Jan 2013I didn't understand your second part of your response (horizondal, vertical line). The dail... moreHey , the thing is a bit tricky but plese read as many times as you need to figure it out what am i talking about. Is a bit hard to express my self, when we talk about this apps, without showing it to you. The app has 5 virtual buttons. I am talking about the second button from the left side and the second from the right side. The one in the left is represented by to lines placed verticaly and horizontaly. This button is made to change the line position that appear after doing the mesurements. To give you the avarage. It is a white, thin, transparent line and above it, is written how much energy your phone used. I hope you will figure it out what i m talking about here. It is quite hard to explain. But please combine my first post with this one and you will ,maybe figure it out. As for that app you have, i don't know about it. All you can do to see if it's eating battery, is to measure the power comsumption while the device is in idle(will have to be always in idle, to have a proper mesurement). So to measure your phone with this app turned on and with it turned off. And, also, to do more mesurements to be shore it is a corect answer.
Carol, 20 Jan 2013Hey, when i refer to standby, i refer not to use it. Keep your phone with display off for 10 m... moreI didn't understand your second part of your response (horizondal, vertical line).
The daily cop is a theft prevention software. I am having it from the date of buying this phone.
The application was installed when I had poor battery backup during October 2012 (at the time of buying the phone). At that time itself I uninstanned and checked. No battery improvement.
I will try your suggestion. Sometimes the daily cop software does not register properly if removed and reinstalled (although I can remove and reinstall any number of times on the same handset with same IMEI) because of server error at the software's side. You go to that website and see.
12xu, 20 Jan 2013@ Carol Hi Carol, i want to ask you something that's not clear to me, about wi.fi. When we ... moreHey 12xu. Yes you are right. 2g EDGE is quite a slow connection, i think it supports a maximum of 250 kb/s (but i don't think you will get so much speed) while 3g/3,5g can go till 10 Mb/s on this phone. On other phones can go faster. Now, i don't think there is a connection between wi-fi and power saving mode. It would be nonsense cause wi-fi already has a standalone power saving... If you go to wlan and hit options/settings you will see it. Default is set to enabled. I never needed to disable it, but some say they need to disable it to have more signal power.
Hi Carol, i want to ask you something that's not clear to me, about wi.fi. When we have power save mode instead of 3.5g we have 2g. In 2g i can access to the net or from my provider Vodafone or from a wi.fi spot where it's free available. I suppose in the first case browsing the net will be slow (correct me if I'm wrong), what happens in the second case? I mean 2g influence wi.fi or it's indipendent?
Thanks in advanced! Take care.
Detroit, 20 Jan 2013@ Carol I think you need to apologize to the innocent folks you criticize weeks ago by acting ... moreFirst of all: it is you again. Second of all: i have never tried to convince anyone to buy this phone. NEVER. I always told to people who asked ME in Particular, what is my experience with this phone and my opinion alone. i always mentioned that i cannot decide for anybody. I also tried to help people who owe this device and had problems. Take a better look if you didn't understood. Third of all: i always accept teaching, the problem is that i don't accept stupidity. Forth: I am not belittle anybody. I was never doing that but with the trolls. And they kind of deserve it, minding the nonsense and useless comments they bring in this forum... Now, senior Gurpreet, or what ever you want to call your self. Please be a man and face the fact that you were wrong and stop trolling. And let's say that it is not "Gurpreet". If you are not, then my apologize because i called you Gurpreet. But that is all about i would apologize to you or, to any other whom felt offended by the fact that somebody laugh at their attacks and stupidity. I respect people who have respect. I also respect people who talk their facts. And don't talk if they don't know. i love the people. And i love helping them. And i love getting help from them. Now, before judging, read more of that two weeks you are talking about.
[deleted post]i don't mind having a laugh:P. As for Samsung, i don't know. Why aren't Samsung making good stuff? It is kind of the same question:-??. The big question is... Why those crappy handsets are selling:))). Joke. But i don't know, sorry... maybe cause they want to respect their old design or they didn't figured it out yet how that works
@ Carol I think you need to apologize to the innocent folks you criticize weeks ago by acting ostentatious. the way things stand, you demean others opinion and put yours on top. And I would wonder how can you do such horrible thing cause N8 is 3 years old. Many bought it and many sold them but it looks like you're clinging on it till eternity. lol. no wonder you refuse to be guided or taught by others. Honestly, you have never being kind to some people you replied to them go back and look at it... this forum is for us all not one man show... good luck
AnonD-20890, 20 Jan 2013In idle condition (signal strong, living in town limit only), my phone consumes 27 to 30 mA. I... moreHey, when i refer to standby, i refer not to use it. Keep your phone with display off for 10 minutes, then select only the part in which your phone was in standby/idle. Then calculate the average usage. So, my phone has an average of 108 to 125 mA while in use: Zapping through the menu, playing some music, etc. Measurement time 4 minutes. I can have more or less on a long usage measurement(depending on what am i doing). Now, in idle (display is off and the program is in background, you must always keep the program in background to measure properly) i have 4mA average. Now i have a weaker signal. i always had 3mA. This i have in a 10 minutes measurement period. i always separate the time the phone was in use from the time was in idle. At start and at the end. You can do that by hitting the second button from the left (the icon has a vertical and a horizontal line) Now, the horizontal line will turn vertical, so, this vertical line will tell you only the power used in that second is pointing at, now just move the graphic left or right to put the vertical line at the beginning of standby time. Now, when is there, hit the second button from the right and there will appear more icons. The left upper square icon with a + is what we need. Press that one and move the graphic again till the point you start using your phone again (when the standby period was over) and do the same. You will notice that there will be another 2 vertical lines marking the beginning and the end of the standby. After all of this, hit the second button from the left again and the vertical line will become horizontal and will give you the average standby usage. As for daily cop. see how the phone behaves with it closed, all processes everything. That program might eat your battery up.
