SSL, 15 Aug 2010is it possible to remove the battery in nokia n8 or is it solder like the apple phone? please ... moreYou don't need to remove the battery until its corrupted.
And when it is, you can easily take your phone to any Nokia Care Center, they can switch it for you easily.
One thing is for sure, Meego is still in very early stages. So with th backing of intel, novell, limpus, linx foundation, nokia, linux community etc... this will turn out nice. Till linux Meego is released we will be happy with S^3/4 debian OS.
is it possible to remove the battery in nokia n8 or is it solder like the apple phone? please give me response thanks
I wouldn't worry about the "Pinch to Zoom" Fn. Nokia will improve it with firm update as they have for the vertical/horizontal Kinetic Scrolling on the S60 touch UI. No first release OS is exempt from it's bug issues ...always bound to be a few!
I would like to say one or two things about the N900. The N900 has one of the best hardware specs out there with the best TPA6130A2 138-mW DirectPath™ Stereo Headphone Amplifier which is output at somewhere between 2.5 - 3.6volts. 600Mhz & good GPU.
I would like to say that there is nothing else out there as good as Meamo bar none. Now I am a S^1 S60 with the touch UI lover. But I have to say if Meego inherits the Meamo Desktop UI & mini widgets. Thi is perfection, widgets & shorcuts can be placed & dragged anyway with Drag & drop, "hover mode2, enabling a mouse like cursor control, 2"draw circle to Zoom" control. Meamo multitasking & extended desktop is. Beauuutiful.
Meego needs to be like this to stand apart from IOS & Android, with the integrations of the same S60 Icon set we are used to with perhaps the options for entended desktop or multiple homescreen. Now that would be nice. Mozilla Web Browser.
If I could get the N900 on Orange, & I weren't too bothered for 720P, AMOLED, etc... I would really REALLY have Meamo. Nokia should have gone for Meamo based handsets & attracted dev sup for since Qt will work with linux aswell across any platform.
The main UI framework revamp will be brought with S^4 as I said a while ago, few other people mentioned this too. Nokiadevice of my dreams would be a Nokia handset combining upgrades & parts of the N900 with the N8/N9. Although this would be a super high end device with Meamo. Meego isn't the same anyway up down left or right I look at it so far.
there's no doubt someone will port Android onto this and other OS
i hope someone ports windows phone 7
When this beauty is gonna in india??? I think its price will be 30,000 INR or above,, N97, N900 were launched at this price range then how can N8 be launched at 22k-25k.... It's having all the features like USB on the go, 12mp camera, dolby etc. I think it will be priced more than 30,000....
the ppl who r commenting here have no idea hw the phone is...plz do not comment if you don't have any idea about the phone...let the phone hit the markets...then argue or fight or comment...its all bullshit theres no n8-01 as such...there is only n8!
Hey ppl why the fuss ? there is no phone yet ! why r u voting and arguing !!! wait till we have it in our hands and then we scream and shout !!! HAHAHAA
TC, 15 Aug 2010It looks really slow, it takes forever before it reacts on swiping finger across the screen, D... moredont you feel stupid to comment before u had actually used??
and symbain is more stable than Bada anyday..
infact Bada is one of the buggy OS which needs battery powe off and on frequently.
Also one interesting thing to note about Samsung galaxy and wave
is its Fake Imaging ;)
Its kind of fooling users and operators., when the OS
crashes instead shwoing the crash screen or restarting,
Samsung just shows an animation and from behind they will restart the application or the phone itself.
I am from India and i know few of my friends working for both Nokia as well as Samsung.
And i am sure Samsung employees cant oppose this Fake Imaging funda is not used

shabi, 15 Aug 2010i totally agree with u,,. battery life will be pooor...Eih eih , it won't be poor at all.
The Symbian ^3 OS is optimized to use as low as possible of battery.
U see this in optimized S60 in Nokia C5 . So great.

it is smoth flawless
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZVmNsgwDPQIt looks really slow, it takes forever before it reacts on swiping finger across the screen, Desire and Galaxy S is much faster!
You can not remove the battery, and that is a BIG problem becaus every OS, especially Symbian, crashes sometimes and the only problem is then to remove the battery to be able to restart the phone, so N8 will be unusable already after uts first inevitable crash.
I am not impressed at all.
More photos taken with the N8. Looks amazing...and I am sure this isn't final firmware

In the Speedy Go! tests, the N8 clearly outpaced the Omnia HD and the N97; it is 54% and 180% faster than the other 2.

Anonymous, 15 Aug 2010let me know wahat better hardware u see in htc desire, samsung galaxy anf google nexus one?htc ... moreFirst, the Nexus and the Desire are basically the same in Hardware, you just need to choose the OS. I prefer the Nexus since you get updated first on the firmwares and you can customize the OS to get similar results to the Sense UI. If you root your Nexus, you can switch between Sense UI and just Regular 2.2.
I have the nexus and just purchased the Samsung Vibrant so I'm excited to see the difference.
But overall, when the N8 is released I will switch to this device full time. I love Symbian only because I don't use much apps, its simple, and I love the battery life on Nokia devices. My Nexus might last a full day on heavy usage. Lets just hope we don't have a disappointment like the Nokia N97, THE WORST PHONE EVER!!!!
