Symbian doesn't need 512mb ram 1 ghz prossesor??
Just look how crappy it runs on lesser hardware. If anything symbian is the only OS that needs better and faster hardware then their competitors. Look how slow it is on phones like n97, vivaz and the n8.
Symbian doesn't need 512mb ram 1 ghz prossesor?
Yeah just look how well it runs on phones like the n97, se vivaz and even on the n8 it self.
Just keep telling otherwise to yourself.
Anonymous, 06 Aug 2010n8 is nokia high end phone for a price of midrange phone
meego is nokia high end phone for ... more470 euros is the price for a mid range phone ??
you should say that it is a mid range phone for the price of a high end one.
n8 is nokia high end phone for a price of midrange phone
meego is nokia high end phone for 80% of iphone 4 price
nokia n8 looks the best in black color
well balanced phone, i hope the speaker is as strong as n96
music quality is as good as 5800
am i asking too much?
I want meego phone to be in candy bar form and without front buttons
better res than n900 or equal
in short remove the n900 keyboard and make the display screen area bigger
why symbian doesnt need high features as 512 ram 1 ghz prossesor while other os*s need these things? is symbain always magic even if new symbian 3 ,4 or whaever! i think meego wont need high features aswell coz it will be nokia at most.
Crunk, 06 Aug 2010Why the hell do people keep posting comments regarding the 680mhz processor and the 256mb ram!... moreYou get the money back if you do not like an app from Android Market. Ovi store keeps your money even if the app does not install.
Look on the Android Market from an Android phone, not form a computer and you'll see the difference.
Crunk, 06 Aug 2010Why the hell do people keep posting comments regarding the 680mhz processor and the 256mb ram!... moreYou are right ! Symbian is AweFreakingSome !!
That was precisely the reason Nokia decided to not make any more N-series devices sporting symbian.
Because it has no bugs, its Super fast, its fluid, user friendly and innovative !! And Nokia knows nobody wants to have all that on their phones !!
Why the hell do people keep posting comments regarding the 680mhz processor and the 256mb ram!! Symbian doesnt need so much power, whether it has 256mb, 512mb or 1gb of ram it will still perform the same. Its like a computer with windows 7, with 2gb and one with 8gb ram still perform the same as long as you dont multitask monstrously! And unlike samsung who bring new phones every other month making you feel what you bought is obsolete, nokia doesnt do this and besides i dont know whats the big deal about android, i was checking the apps on the android market and they are soooo crap asin seriously! And please dont mention bada os, its lyk a iphone ios copycat and so is most of samsungs touchscreens like the I9000 galaxy s and the wave.
if nokia waiting for next device to b 1ghz processor ,512 ram wvga 1500 battery it will b mid range then becose all high end device have all these feaures already. nokia willl lost the market if they doesnt upgrade hardware and software for n8 befor it hits shelves. U r so late nokia ! U should realise meego nowadays. Regards.
Those who are complaining about the low processor in *N8*. they should think that Nokia N8 has a low resolution as compared to other Brands mobiles such as Samsung Wave. So it does not require a higher processor to Run at such low resolution.Think of your computers. when u work on them or Play the games at Low Resolution, the computer works fast and when u increase the resolution, the same game runs slow. So the N8 processor it Excellent for its resolution.
When Nokia will introduce High Resolution Screens in their Mobiles the Processor of higher MHz or GHz will automatically be used and Same will be the way to increase the RAM and ROM.
Think that Nokia All Touch devices are running the Same Resolution merely at a 434MHz processor and they all don't have a seprate GPU too. Do U don,t like them ALL?
Sumsung Wave is using 1GHz processor because it is working at higher resolution & thats it.
So in my opinion Nokia N8 is Going to be The Nokia N95 (Touch) for the Year 2010.
My Requirements From Nokia are only that They Must give a Mobile with Highest Resolution (Resolution should Be changeable to low resolution by the users) plus Super AMOLED Screen. When they will do so the Processor, Ram and Rom will automatically increase.
So, THINK ,THINK And THINK Again!!!!!!!

Anonymous, 06 Aug 2010Agreed! A phone with mediocre specs and speedy OS may perform as good as the current high end ... moreDear Brother..,
I totally agree with you regarding the fact that N8 has a comparably slow processor and less RAM than we expected... But I can't agree when you say 'it's just a touch phone with good camera for average users...' Come on friend...! Are you serious of what you're saying...?
Well... for the record, how about following features of N8....
* USB on the Go
* FM Transmitter
* WLAN b/g/n
* Largest sensor size of the camera in a mobile phone so far
Do you really consider above features are 'JUST Normal Features..!'
Think before you're saying something...!
Most of above features are appeared for the VERY FIRST TIME in a mobile phone....!
N8 is a very well balanced than any other phone,not like otherz ,they didnt put (may b forgot idk,lolz)
simple parts like flash,equilizer or phones which doesnt support zip,rar files :D Cheerz :)
Agreed! A phone with mediocre specs and speedy OS may perform as good as the current high end phones but surely not better than them. N8, rather than trying to catch up to competition, should try to outperform them to win the hearts of consumers!
Also, there is no reason to not to update the specs as with the time passed hardware prices definitely might have gone down, I bet the cost of 1GHz Processor and 512MB RAM is surely not as high as it were 6 months ago. I understand my assumption stands good only if they have not signed any contracts with manufactures. Here in Canada iPhone(660CAD) is hardly 100CAD more than estimated cost of Nokia N8(~550 CAD), why does Nokia sacrifices so much to save so little? I will definitely consider purchasing iPhone 4 if Nokia doesn’t release a MeeGo with 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM by this year end.
I’m not sure if upgrading the processor speed or RAM is so simple in a mobile device. The rest of the system from the case inwards is probably designed for the particular heat dissipation and power requirements of the original CPU+RAM combination, and changing them might require changes in seemingly unrelated parts of the gadget – or else risk bad stability or battery life. (But then, I’m just an interested spectator here with no real knowledge).
At it being best on the market,you must be talking about the mid-end market? then yes,N8 beats the C6, Htc Tattoo, LG Optimus 540, and Samsung Spica or whatever they call them. Its only trump card is the Camera, otherwise its like a 5800 with a GPU thrown in and a bit more RAM. Its still rocking that strange “nHD” display when the rest have WVGA and higher,and lets not even get started on how poor apps and games are in symbian compared to Android and iOS, those have such an active developer community which makes owning devices running them a lot more exciting,and lets not forget OS updates. Anyway i hope the N8 does well,its perfect for average users who want a touch phone with a good camera.
There are rumors that the N8 will ship in limited editions as the software is too buggy and the webbrowser too slow, which is supposed to be fixed by an update in mid-November 2010 (which probably equals May 2011 in Nokia-time-tracking worlds). I would suggest release the phone in December when the software is really done and stands a chance against Android. In the meantime, in order to keep hardware specs competetive replace the 680MHz processor with 1GHz and double the RAM.
You’re on to something amazing with this phone! Everything looks very promising except for the buggy and slow software and I assume (since you’ve never shown it) the N95-like century old super slow browser. Don’t destroy it by releasing something that needs to be fixed later on. There are so many great features and ideas about this phone it would be a shame for all the developers who contributed building such an amazing piece of art.
One more thing: Please don’t follow the same approach as you did with the N95 where 1 month later you release the N95 8GB. I guess people would be really pissed off if the bought the N8 with a 680MHz processor and 256MB RAM in September and in November you decide to release the phone with 1GHz and half a gig RAM. That would probably cost you the last few supporters left out there.
