Symbian is pushed to mid section because nokia has a new OS in mind for the high end phones. If you know nokia, u would also know that nokia takes it slow and steady. Ever heard of the name MeeGo??
It would be a worthy opponent to Android when it comes out.
Wanna know nokia's investment in linux OS before? Type in "Nokia n900" in the search and see how it kicked the shit outta every phone out there when it was launched. Yes, i agree its outdated right now and no match for Froyo, but when MeeGo comes out, its gonna give even Gingerbread a run for its money...

nokia n8 vs samsung waveI think Bada OS with TouchWiz 3 is much better than symbian 3. Nokia said this will be their last flagship phone with symbian. So N8's OS is dead on arrival. What a great idea to announce it, nokia! xD
Basa is more stable and the UI (TouchWiz 3) is nice and useful.
Samsung's marketplace is steadily growing by the way. there are about 600 apps already. Perhaps Bada OS will be competitive after all :D

How are you finding your wave btw ? (Perhaps not the... moreWhen I bought the phone I knew its only limitation. I knew that the OS was new and there weren't many apps available. But Galaxy S costs 100€ more that wave and it doesn't have LED Flash. I played with a lot of apps on my N95 and it seemed a little boring. I have a laptop as my primary mobile device and I seldom use my smartphone to browse the internet. I needed a good Music player, video player and a top notch camera with flash and video light. The hardware is top. It's almost the same hardware as on the Iphone plus SuperAMOLED minus girosensor minus high definition.
For the price, 350€-400€, it's the best value for money on the market. You should read the review and decide if it meets your needs. I certainly don't regret buying this phone.
N8 looks good btw. Too bad it's 450+ € after the tax.

Anonymous, 04 Aug 2010I am sorry but my question was only aimed at nokia enthusiasts ! No offense but since your dis... moreI don't have had any hanging experiences yet. It has been running on now for 1 week and all is stable and well. The only gripes I have with it, is the somewhat short battery life (1 or 2 days with moderate to heavy use), and the sometimes inconsistent menu clicking behaviour (some items require double tapping). I like the keyboard though..
With respect to lagging. The only time I really have to wait for the phone to do something is when it is building thumbnails to view pictures in the camera folder (this takes a few seconds for 20+ photo's). Strangely, if you go to fullscreen view, the iPhone-like picture (and movie) scrolling is very fluent and fast..

Still, there were numerous complains... morein my experience with the n97 (i had it for about 4 months before losing it), the free c drive memory was about 40mb. you can install most apps on mass memory, but some apps (eg nokia messaging) has to be put on c memory. there are a few tips on how to maximise c memory (just google it), but at the end of the day it was a terrible decision from nokia to put so little c memory on a phone with 32gb of internale storage!

Oops, 13 mb of free memory seems to be incorrect. My bad. Still, there were numerous complains about the lack on free C:\ and about how the system quickly filled all the free space and needed a hard reset once in a while to regain space.

No offense but since your dis... morei had an n97 until january this year (when i lost it), and i got it despite all the bad press around it. unfortunately, i should have listened to that bad press because that phone gave me nothing but trouble. i did need to hard reset weekly, as the phone would freeze and wouldnt power on again. of course you can easily backup on a memory card and reinstall after reset, but i was doing that so frequently. keep in mind however that that was before the major firmware 2.0 update was available. today, i would expect that the n97 is a more stable phone, but it is hard for me to recommend a phone that hung daily. i hear that the n97 mini is much more reliable and stable, so if i were you i would go for the mini instead, if you really cant wait for the n8 and want a new phone now.
