I tested Wave at Samsung flagship store.
The video frame rate is impressive, BUT the recorded sound just suck big time. Especially at noisy area.
N8 in the other hand have the ability to record HD video too. Although not as much frame rate but its already more than good enough to keep my jaw open.
Its also accompany with a great matching recorded sound.
Wave's LED is too small, it doesn't help even a bit at low light video capturing. Have == don't have.
N8 on the other hand have bigger sensor that help to capture video even in low light condition.
It can capture whatever things that human eye can see in the low light area.
So i think it is enough.
Why are you posting about WAVE here in N8 topic?
One reason i can think of is because you are not fully satisfied with your choice of choosing WAVE.
You felt insecure about your device because it does not impress you as you expected.
Thus you are trying to boast your security and confident here in this topic by posting about WAVE here.
If N8's fans are convinced by you, you will feel "yea right! i have made a right choice".

[deleted post]Yes mate... I do understand the constraints imposed by samsung about Voip services. I've been following the wave and been doing an extensive comparison with the N8 as well. But those are some of the things that i cannot live with as symbian has kind of spoilt me with these goodies. It is quite assuring to have these app running on a less powerful phone than not be able to run them at all.
If Bada could do something about it before N8 releases, symbian users like me will still opt for the N8 though Wave may have a tempting price tag and a better processor.
And just because the wave has a 1Ghz processor doesn't make it the fastest. Bada and symbian are two totally different platforms. It's like comparing linux with windows. We all know that linux even on an underspeced PC can run as fast or better than a high end windows PC. In addition, N8 has a dedicated graphics processor which can offload the CPU and do all the graphics related processing. I recon the GPU comes with it's own dedicated memory as well. That would save a lot of RAM resulting in more free RAM for running apps. It is really a 680MHz CPU+GPU vs the 1GHz CPU of wave. We can only guess who would come out the winner in the end.
It all comes to OS optimisation and we cannot say anything about it until the N8 is released. i'm sure a lot of wave fans are gonna be disappointed.
And finally the samsung support suks. They can't even come up with a decent PC sync solution that can match up with the OVI suite. Nokia has one of the best after sales services. They constantly update their products even the older models. This is really a blessing for customers like me who won't feel dejected. What if their phones aren't that state of the art, atleast they treat us like real human beings rather than some sheep or guinea pigs.

[deleted post]A single led flash is as good as nothing. Its useless. Just a spec sheet feature with no real use except maybe as a torchlight. You can't honestly tell me you can snap or record anything usable with it.

funny thing ... how many canon/nikon cameras nowadays equipped with 5 MP??? Probably not a single one... That make some sense (after all buyers of those cameras don't view their images big projector lol!!!)

Now that's a genuine problem.. an extra LED flash would be fine!! However xenon flash is way better than dual LED (again thts why no canon/panasonic...)

do you know that in PAL TV standard 25fps (with interlaing it is 50 field (not frame!!!) per sec)is used in about 100 countries... So if 30>>25 fps than how a superior judge like you are happy with 5Mp??

this doesn't have 1Ghz so its waste and its a slow phone still we have to wait for upcoming model of nokia much better then this one or more to get some new models like samsung and htc has

To all wavers present here....
Wave is a good phone and is a sure competition for the N8 even excelling in some departments like display and processor. But wave sure lacks some features that is already present in most symbian nokia phones..
First up is the PC suite software. The samsung KIES is miles behind of what nokia offers through OVI suite. OVI suite has everything that is required for seamless connectivity with the PC. Nokia also releases firmware updates worldwide and is a breeze updating the firmware. But as of today, wavers have to resort to unorthodox methods to get their waves upto date. This is a continuation of the poor support that samsung provides its customers (remember omnia HD dont you?)
Next up is the free navigation. It's a must now a days for a smart phone with GPS capabilities. OVI maps is unmatches here and is a must have feature especially if you come from a symbian background.
And there is the list of the already available apps. I'm not talking about millions of them but some of the basic ones like I use fring and skype for video chatting and for making voip calls using Google talk. Some of the other things missing in wave but already available for symbian phones are
1) Quick office with doc editing
2) Adobe reader Lite
3) Flash lite
4) Lack of 3rd party themes
5) Google Maps ( not the java version)
6) Shazam
7) Tune wiki
8) Last FM client
9) Opera Mobile
10) Sym torrent (or any torrent client)
These are things that I cannot live without on my phone. So unless wave comes up with these apps support or an alternative, wave though with all the eyecandy features can never beat the N8 or any other Nokia with symbian os. It's that simple

I think people a focusing too much on the bad aspects of this phone (the screen, the OS and the CPU). Instead they should focus a bit more on the good things, like the awesome camera, brilliant (imo at least) aluminum design and HDMI.

Nokia is losing ground, most of the people are turning away from nokia. symbian-guru.com which used to be a big fan of nokia and symbian has stopped reviewing symbian mobiles and applications. another site symbianguru.com (without the -) which used to develop symbian applications now has started developing android applications.
Symbian is no doubt a great OS when it comes to functionality, the problems is not with what we can do with it, the problem is how we do. that's where symbian is miles behind iOS or Android.
And another problem with nokia's flagship mobiles is that they arrive very late nokia keep on working on it until people start to get frustrated and move away from it, and eventually when they do release it, it comes with bag full of bugs.
I hope it's not the case with N8

For the N8 680mhz+powerful brodcom GPU is enough ! In those youtube videos N8's performance is good enough with the os and firmware which is not finalized ! I ll prefer a very well balanced N8 rather than any other phone & I can wait ! Hehehe
