I'm asking this just out of curiousty that i know N8 doesn't allow removing of battery.
So, suppose if the phone hangs. I know this i guess is a very rare chance. Still if it hangs. Wat can a user do? As power button doesn't work when phone hangs!
And other question is will it support applications that were built for previous symbian OS?
Anyone with solution?
this phone has 512mb ROM in NAND flash memory, can we "put" something in it...?
Anonymous, 06 Jul 2010everytime i install apps and games in N81, it always give me an option where to install to sdc... moreYea.. i also feel kinda weird when i read about his post.
It sounded like he treated the 135mb internal storage the same as the 256mb RAM...
I am no expert in this area, but i do know that my Symbian devices has never give me any problem with low storage in the c: internal memory since i have large mass internal storage to use.
everytime i install apps and games in N81, it always give me an option where to install to sdcard or phone memory, isn't that a standard function symbian, right?
and it gives me also the option where to store the messaging files either the card or in the phone. well most of my installation and sms were located in the sdcard and it never give problem on that sort....
why did sum1 bring up on low memory for apps and games in N8 for about 138MB, it just don't matter I think as a symbian user we had already the option to install it in the sdcard while that option is just recently/officially introduced in the Froyo in android os.

If Symbian is not a great OS, do you think Samsung will make use of it in their flagship devices?
Thanks for re-affirming Symbian's capability. :)

It is normal for every other mobile devices in the market.
Thus, it is not right to call it an "issue". This is a suggestion.
You can raise this suggestion to any phone company of course.
Engineer Man, 06 Jul 2010For some unknown reason when I upgraded to the OVI Maps Version 3.1/3.2 from Version 3.0 46mb ... moreDid you ever personally raise this issue to an official Nokia representative?
Did you get any answer from them? I believe they are more willing to answer all these questions for you in details. Try Mr. Damian Dinning. He is very responsive in answering client's question.
Well, I think i will found out when i get the N8 on my hand. Cause I didn't encountered any of such problem after so many Symbian devices (with much lesser c: internal memory on board) i used before this.
For some unknown reason when I upgraded to the OVI Maps Version 3.1/3.2 from Version 3.0 46mb phone memory went down to 42mb. Then here & now, location services, Nokia email all used more taking me down to 35mb of free memory now. Even with Web browser temp cache cleared. I'm looking at what else can be moved safely from C:\ without causing problems & taking the memory back upto to a decent 46mb. I'm thinking of getting rid of something. Simple helper files & such... This is the issue I want to raise. All these programs & content should be installed by default to another partition, the phone having more C:MEM or having the install option to choose to send install to MicroSD. But OTA or NSU don't usually by default give you this choice. Instead you watch your already limited lowly amount Phone memory you have left decrease & decrease to nothing. Ok I've had my rant.
Yes the apps I was referring to moving from C: was individual C:MEM OS only program & their contents getting larger & reducing MEM on C: (5800XM) This is content that couldn't be moved to another memory card. Instead they occupied the phone memory. I don't know whether it can be moved without causing problems to the MicroSD card. Programs such as OVI Maps Program & content (maps),the new location services program, here & now, Nokia Email, which new iteration uses more & more C: memory leaving less free memory.
Dear friends:Ithink All in one mobile is n8 and iwill buy it please tell me if there is any problem with this mobile.
When using the music player, when you unplug the headphones does the music pause?
Because i have a n86, and when the headphones are removed accidentally, it automatically starts playing the music on the phone speaker, disturbing people arround me...
Annoying... Such an expensive phone should have the option to do that. I hope n8 doesn't have this issue..

on my s60 samsung g810 i can install all programs on microsd, it has 112.4M ram of which 69.6m is free. i've even had over 20 apps running, including 5 java games and that was when i first encountered memory errors. so s^3 should be able to cope with 256m ram, and installing all your programs on removable or fixed memory is always an option
