himynameissam, 05 Jul 2010if its true that they actually sold 21.5 million phones in the last quarter then it's only bec... moreThe simple fact is that Apple cannot sell iphone at that price.... mainly because Steve needs big profits and also because Apple has to pay other manufacturers for using their technology and parts...
Nokia on the other hand can and do sell the 5800 incredibily cheap and it can outperform any other phone at that price by miles....
After seeing some of the videos. It leaves mixed questions. Some of the videos show the firmware looking pretty quick while other leave a lot answered for. The especially Low C: drive Phone memory of 135mb still isn't much to play with, unless there are more than several high memory intensive apps running. Virtual mem if it's there won't really help, although it may against stopping memory leaks as such but virtual memory is like a desktop pc's mechanical hard disk memory swap file which is much slower.
This isn't the case for nokia. If S^3 does integrate a swap file, a virtual mem pool I don't know how much it will be. But it's questionable as to how well it will work from stopping memory leaks, & memory full errors, beta stage firmware will tend to have these memory leaks bugs anyway.
Like I said though. Some of the newer videos leave a lot to be answered for with performance. It needs to be very fast & smooth with no lag really the UI. memory needs to be more even tho S^3 is low on resources & efficient it's still not enough & it could have done with more RAM I suppose. As long as issues like these are sorted out it's absolutely quick & stable, with no Memory full issues, no bugs in the OS, then this phone will surprise me.
However I am still considering the features the Android OS brings over Symbian. But don't forget they both have their pros & cons. Be careful making decisions on the main advantages that each OS brings on their function, feature table. Then choose which hardware has the most ability to handle it well. That's how I look at it. Since User interaction is key there just might be something different about the way you use, operate, navigate your previous phones.
thinking of buying a n8 got an old n96 at moment as you will know it very slow is n8 ant better any help please im sick of looking
Anonymous, 05 Jul 2010wave is like a big pad. the keys sucks. it is a brick. n8 will be the biggest break for nokia.Yes its shaping up to be Nokia's best phone ever. But the truth is that typical Nokia, it will probably end up being another price of Symbian run rubbish! Have you not seen the videos to the phone? The phone's response rate is like being at the dentist....painfull!
Painfull phone, well done Nokia for sticking with Symbian. High expectations with the same old crap OS. Nothing will ever change if Nokia keep this snail.
goodluck for opening the battery cover -as this phone is totally prone to hang ups, stuck on a blank screen, you know-the usual problem of s60 5th! Bwahahaha!
wave is like a big pad. the keys sucks. it is a brick. n8 will be the biggest break for nokia.
samsung wave sucks. the only advantage of wave over n8 is the 1ghz and the sa screen
anyway n8 processor can catch up with that bec it has a powerful gpu and enough cpu and ram
Nikki, 05 Jul 2010any one know any app similar to skyfire ?? pls replyopera mini or opera mobile are both great browsers. the difference between the two is that opera mobile is designed specifically for mobiles, but the mini works fine too. just go to www.opera.com and follow the download links. i find opera faster than skyfire, but one big disadvantage of opera is that unlike skyfire, it can't read flash.

So is that mean N8 can run around 7 apps at a time since it has... moreI've never said n97 can not run more than 3 apps simultaneously, it also due to the how much memories is used / needed by each application so it can run properly.
Also if N8 was true as it's been rumoured will have virtual memory - like N900 that has 750 mb of virtual mem, I agree that it can run 10 to 15 apps at the same time.
if its true that they actually sold 21.5 million phones in the last quarter then it's only because they're so cheap. i mean, a nokia 5800 is about £100 now. if apple sold an iphone for £100, it would undoubtedly be the best selling phone of all time.
omg every1 i got the n8!!! its awesme urll shud get it its released in finland unofficially!! and i have it yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :d :d

So is that mean N8 can run around 7 apps at a time since it has doubled the memory of 50mb on N97?
But how come the video on youtube shown that N8 can multitask up to 15 apps at a time?
