It is better to upgrade from scratch. Meaning, no 3rd party apps to be installed, no nothing the phone is better to be like out from the box when upgrading. Allot of people encountered issues when upgrading without formatting. Search this forum, you will find them:)

As per your requirement, it has 1.3ghz and 512mb ram. So, go get one now. As you said, it's two years old now. It has run its course. Get the 808, it's the best phone now.
Just a pity it won't be supported much with apps and games now. Probably just software updates for more enhancements.

AnonD-80321, 23 Nov 2012this is such an old slow device....compared to a samsung galaxy s3 with a quad-core processoryes it is, but two year older N8 still rocks! If Nokia put only 1mhz cpu and 512 ram in N8 it will be a best phone on market. What a shame Nokia leaves symbian.

AnonD-80321, 23 Nov 2012this is such an old slow device....compared to a samsung galaxy s3 with a quad-core processorthis may be old, bcuz it was not launched in the year 2012. but the quality is good, and it doesn't slow. and n8 use symbian^3 anna and can be upgrade to symbian belle. and many of the symbian apps is not heavy to run, on the background.

I like this phone. its map is far more accurate than BB. I used it when i am lost, I am glad i reach the place i would like to go. Sometimes, I am laughing to those people asking directions and those holding big map made of paper where it is folds to 8 or more...

Icon! No Android or iDevice can step on it's little finger! The N8 may not be the fastest, greatest looking, future-proof phone, but it's the first BIG step forward to turning Symbian into a great OS (after the epic S60v5 failure)! I might consider buying this phone, because my good old 5530 is starting to show it's age.

y do people checking out this 2 yrs old phone? Its because they're not satisfied in their phones cam quality, n8 cam is superb. I never own an n8 but i already got a hand on it. Kinda confused that time what to buy n8 or e7.i chose e7 and never regretted it.;)

I'm not sure but i don't think you can update to Anna anymore, just Belle is available. If Anna is available you can do it OTA by 'software update' menu. For Belle the latest version of PC suite is needed, it is possible only by tethering to a PC or laptop. It will automatically back up memory, just follow instructions. All installed apps will be deleted and you need to reinstall them. Belle update may fail sometimes, so try to do it on a Genuine Windows computer.

Wanna update my n8 to anna, is it necessary to backup E/ storage... During the update will the phone be formatted? Please i need a quick reply
