Good camera, shame about the rest of the phone with its below standard features, lol!
[deleted post]Well, I heard about the phone.
I tested it in the shop when it is available.
I satisfied with the features and i buy it.
And I am happy with my Symbian running phone for 1 and a half year already.
Todays mobile devices do more than ever before, video calls, web browsing, managing music, tracking locations. Users expect richer epxeriences & this calls for enhanced graphics & user interfaces. It's upto the the OS to enable more complex UIs to be built easily & to be flexible. This is what screenplay is all about.
Heres a simple example. A user checks a date in his calendar to confirm the time. While he's doin this he receives a video call, looking at this graphically, each piece of visual information is being drawn to it's own surface. The Primary Surface contains calendar information aswell as the usual phone status information.
A Secondary Surface contains the incoming call dialogue & the third Surface contains the embedded video chosen to represent the caller which can be hardware accelerated to improve perfotmance. having taken the call, the user needs to update his calendar where once this would of meant switching to the calendar application, the user can now interact with his calendar without losing the call.
As each piece of information is drawn to it's own surface, the UI designer has more flexiblity & control over the look & function of the UI. If needed each Surface can have it's own level of transparency. So the calendar view layer can be brought to the forefront of the call allowing the user to make changes & still talk. Typical UI will be transformed by this technology, user homescreens can now be customized to show unique features appealing to hte indivudual.
Features such as real time news feeds, sport highlights, LBS applications which use openVG to draw maps, each seperate application is drawn to it's own dedicated graphic surface, & video again can be hardware accelerated if required leaving the graphics competition engine to blend the surfaces together in a unified dynamic visual experience by writing to different surfaces & enhancing video performance through hardware acceleration screenplay is preparing the devices of today for the visual interaction of tomorrow.
The new iPhone 4 is impressive kit, but because of the better connectivity, and better media, and most of all, because of the cheaper price, I'm going to get the N8.
Apple has created a great device, and Nokia does have it work cut out for them in a number of areas, considering UI appearance, and Ovi store app selection, but these things will improve with this exciting new mobile spuring things on.
btw, N8 is 10 times faster than iPhone 4 at 3D:
Mark, 08 Jun 2010Sweet. On an early 2007 phone correct? Yup. The editor was similar on the N95 but a tad slower. I wondered if the video editing would run on the CPU or GPU on the N8 but looking at how fast it seems to process the clips, I'm happy either way.
I always referred to my N95 as an extra PC I carry around but not without a little puzzled looks from my mates but if your smartphone can basically do everything your PC does, why not?
Mark, 08 Jun 2010great, looks like Nokia has its own Imovie... :)
This is great. The new movie editor is something I wanted to see for myself. I have used this feature to edit movies before on my N95 but the editor on the N8 is really fast.
If you want to see some of the movies I edited entirely on my N95, check this out:
Anonymous, 08 Jun 2010why use symbian again??? they have clearly demonstrated they dont know how to use it. They all... moreWho said Symbian Phone become faulty in a week?
My Inov8 which is also running on Symbian working perfectly for one and a half year already.
My colleague's Nokia 5800 works great after the firmware update.
drV, 08 Jun 2010iPhone 4 with iOS4 is way way ahead of N8.... I guess competition is over before the start... ... morePlease do us the honor of comparing them and explain to us how the competition is over before it was started. We have had many discussion on the matter in this forum and certainly do not think so. I you don't then your comment and you are invalid mate.
Nicro kernel can run on very low computation load application processors
meaning that you can extend battery life for extensive periods time with active use meaning that you can multitask actively in OS & on your mobile. Theres a hardware abstraction Layers. Some of the first bits are elements of the hardware abstraction layer in their which will provide us a much larger range of technologies by which people can create mobile products & run the OS on platform. The cute core libraries are in their ofr the first time. So this will be a key milestone on the way to S4 & 5, & other releases because it will ebable to leverage cute to go in & rewrite the applications. It will anable developers to do some incredible things with the platform. Again it's a very feature rich release for Symbian.
What consumers are looking for?
We are making it a lot easier to navigate around the system or to use your device or product. So what we've done as an example as a lot of work our members companies have done is work to reduce the number of inputs that you have to do for basic tasks or common tasks. So it'll be much eaiers to send a mail, much easier to go online, much easier to stay connected with multiple applications & so forth with very few inputs into the system. Theres also some elegance in their. Some nice visual design features, transparencies & transition effects that are good. Things like navigating images & listening to music & so on all have minor improvements in them just really ehance the overall experience with the symbian products.
How does symbian^3 measure up against the competing platforms?
Well I will say with complete BIAS that it doesn't measure up, it surpasses in so many ways what else is available out there. You know these grass roots efforts like the android effort are interesting. We'll see overtime if they can develope the type of feature set & the mature code line in the same way that symbian has been mature over the years. When you compare to things like Iphone, again the visual design cues the ability to navigate, the broad application support that's integrated without requiring you to go buy a bunch of applications, just to use your mobile. These things again will really help Symbian to stand above the competition out there.
Preview part 2 of 3
I think i have made my choice , N8 rules!!!
why use symbian again??? they have clearly demonstrated they dont know how to use it. They all go faulty within weeks they are released N95, N958GB,N96, N97 and N97mini have all been disasters.
android and windows mobile seems to be the way forward.Or even the os they used on n900 witch was based on linux.
Great in features and hopefully half the price of Iphone 4. This in combination is the key of success of NOKIA.
I hope N8 will spam out more siblings with slightly varied function like the 5800 spamming ,coz not all of us can afford high ended.. I looking foward for siblings of N8 with mid end pricing... Thanks NOKIA for N82 btw!!!

Have u try it yourself?
There were people said that it is impossible to put a more than 3 megapixel camera in a phone some years ago.
But now, we see a 12 megapixel camera in a tiny little phone.
The same can goes to battery too.
Test it before u make the statement or else please add a "i think..." before you wrote anything else.

It is weird.. I notice that my "code" is keep on changing whenever i login and logoff my internet connection. Usually the "code" will not change.
Then i cannot vote just now. The reason is i voted before. But this is the first time i am trying to vote today. 10 10 10 of course.
Is it possible that someone is utilizing some weird tools to multi vote using others IP?
Btw Nokia N8 Rocks!
I don't what new types of 3D UI transitional effects & gestures the new iphone gets besides the coverflow, sweeps, dynamic tranforms, pinch to zoom, kinetic scrolling etc...other dynamic animated content such as Live wallpapers, what I do know is that S^3 will support this & the N8's hardware & GPU can pull all these transitional 3D effects off. So apple & Android beware of S^3.
