Anis, 02 Jun 2010mmm anyone know if it will support DivX / XviD ??This forum is going ridiculous, dont you think. By the way I dont know about xvid but as usual you know many people in the globle had N8 for testing. According to them N8 can play divx with the pre release firmware. I have also asked this question to Nokia Camera guru Damian Dinning and he said " we cant say in this stage".

Anis, 02 Jun 2010mmm anyone know if it will support DivX / XviD ??It can support it. Some pre-production models come with it but Nokia have stated they have not decided if they would include it in the final release. Perhaps its not a question of whether it can or not for them but rather should or otherwise as they consider cost of licensing.

[deleted post]Dude, since you had to compare the specs of one Nokia N8 with so many different devices, does that not tell you why N8 has so many followers. Now I ask you, tell me one device from any other maker that comes close to the full feature list of the N8. And while you are at it, please do add what mobile you think is the best at the moment if one does decide to buy a mobile device now instead of waiting for future and its marvels.

[deleted post]Now I think I should come up, and lets talk with real facts..
My first answer will be for Mr. Tom-Helge..
Mr Tom Helge, the answer of your arguement "will N8 is able to get symbian^4 or not" is actually hidden in your own posts.
          How..?
You said that Android dont need fast processer.. It can even run on your Xperia X2 right.. Then for your kind information symbian is always light compare to Android.. I have searched the minimum requirement of both symbian^3 and symbian^4 and the answer is both have same hardware requirement.. Symbian^4 will also run heavily on 3d Graphics accelerator. Which N8 have. Second real fact: the core of snapdragon is also 'weak' Arm 11 cpu which is safely overclocked to 1ghz.
And now lets see some other facts. Mr. Tom, cpu wise Satio and Vivaz can also be upgraded to symbian^3.. right. Then why dont SE promise to upgrade them with symbian^3. Since I think they also got 'life time support'.?
Answer is simple, to install or boot new OS on phone, Capacity of ROM is more important than cpu. Nokia is officially mention that the ROM of N8 is 512 which is more than enough to install any OS on it. Due to this capacity you can even install Android, Web OS etc on N8. So ROM wise N8 also qualify to Symbian^4.
          .
So it is not impossible to upgrade N8 with symbian^4. But still its depend on Nokia if they will upgrade it or not. But since N8 is Nokia's camera flagship so probably they will upgrade it with symbian^4. Not upgrading N8 with symbian^4 means loosing the faith from customers. If Nokia will not upgrade N8 with symbian^4 means they will loose more and more market share. Nokia is not so stupid to let their value able customers to go to other brands since they already losts many customers.
So Mr. Tom-Helge dont post any stupid post about it without answering me.
          .
In my second post I will give Answer to Mr. Rajesh. But currently I'm busy I will back soon.

[deleted post]Nokia has always been slow in acheiving what others have achieved ages ago. 12 mpx camera was introduced 9 months ago in SE Satio and Samsung PIXON 12. Now we are looking at 12 mpx camera in Nokia N8. ( We dont even know exact date of launch of N8 ) Late by ages already. SE Vivaz has been launched 3 months ago with high speed 720 mhz processor with SGX graphic and HD recording...And mind you all both these handsets are using Symbian OS...Nokia is still sleeping. Now we talk about OTG...to many this is a new concept...but open eyes...this gimmick was introduced by O2 flame in the year 2007 ( i.e 3 years ago ) but failed because transfer of data via USB consumes enormous CPU speed and it munches the battery and the gadget tends to drain the battery power in minutes. Mind you N8 comes with only 1200 mAH battery ( a big drawback ). Now you Nokia fans, tell me which Nokia handset at the moment is able to beat SATIO and VIVAZ in specifications...Again, N8 is not even launched yet...do you people think other companies are now closed and not even working on new things...by the time you will have N8 in your hand, you will see a dozen of new gadgets with higher specs and better features...WAKE UP AND THINK...or if you cant do that than N8 is for you guys and made specially for you guys...the term is PEOPLE

Generally speaking there isn't a decent phone out there at the moment that can do everything people want. The ideal handset in my opinion is one that comes with a decent processor with enough memory to back it up, enough space for all your pics/music/movies etc... a decent OS (i.e. Android) and a decent camera (i.e. 8MP-12MP) with a good lens but will we ever get such a thing? Probably at some point but for right now I reckon its too expensive for phone manufacturers to do that and make a decent amount of money on it at the same time!

A new snap-dragon processor at 1.2ghz and android 2.2 at the helm, decent graphics and a 12MP camera should do the trick, at least for now!

Bottom line is, the gadget hungry will never be satisfied as they will always want something bigger and better!

people that are not so happy and hunt and struggle to get more than what was thrown in their way will never be satisfied*. They think they are wise but they are not wise.

They keep complaining about every damn thing. They think that their idea is the best. When the idea is wrong what they do is just stick their tongue out cant hear any words from their mouth.

If nokia cant satisfied your needs there are many brands out there u can choose.

                        We have freedom to choose.
Nokia is full of choice. From crap to good phone.

                        *correction**
                        ** correction again LOL

but se x10 got scratched. It will be fresh for only 1 yr.
                                  X10 dont fit in pocket.

Tom, help me understand somethings. Based on all your rants here recently what you are trying to say is that your SE X10 is far better than Nokia's N8 with all its feature list and hardware spec simply because the X10 has a faster processor and 'lifetime support' which according to you means you'll be able to use your phone for 3-4 (upto 6 you say) with endless Android updates?

Has SE promised this "lifetime support' for any other devices other than the X10?

Do you honestly think that's how long every other mobile user users his or her phones? Or do you think that is how long one should be using their devices?

I have a turnover rate of about 2 years (Nokia 6630 in 2006, N95 in 2008 and hopefully N8 in 2010 and most of the people I know have similar or even shorter life expectations on their mobiles. I'd be honest, the reason I change my phones is partially because of the newer OS but mostly because of other HW upgrades ; (6630 - 1.3 MP, 3G)(N95 - 5MP, 3.5G, A2DP, TV Output, USB)(N8 - 12MP, HD Video, 10.2 HSDPA, HDMI, Bluetooth 3.0, FM transmitter, USB OTG, 16GB memory). The reason I made that list is just to point out that just because you future proof a phone in terms of its OS and CPU, there are other things that means as much if not more to some people.

I do hope you'd respond to my questions. I don't mind if you skip the snide way you try to put down anyone saying anything remotely good about the N8 but do answer my questions, I am really curious.

Anonymous, 02 Jun 2010Dont give SE such a high expectation on life time support u'll end up suing SE in the end. ... moreI don't need to have such high expectations on Sony Ericsson that will just end up by suing Sony Ericsson when they don't gives us the things they promises.

Then why haven't i sued Sony Ericsson to now then?.

Well it just explains that they have done everything that have promised.

Simple as that. I'm not trying to get more peoples to buy Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, i'm trying to explain why the XPERIA X10 is a better phone to go for if you want to have a good working phone with many many new OS updated for many years.

It's fully up to you what you choose.

And if you haven't seen it already, i'm very happy that you will go for a Nokia N8 or Nokia N900 instead of the junk that is called iPhone.

Never ever go for that jail fail phone. And i mean it.

Sony Ericsson will support the XPERIA X10 as long the phone is suspected to live. A normal phone today have a lifetime of 3 years at least with daily use where the phone is getting used alot every day.

So that's what called lifetime support. Did you think that i was talking about having 15 years with support when i said lifetime support lol?.

Yeah, but isn't it a bit waste of money to have a mobile phone that can only be supported 7 enjoyed for around 1 year that cost 420-440 euro when i can buy a phone to 530 euro that have lifetime support (support for at least 3 years) instead?. And then enjoy the mobile phone for 3 years.

I want to enjoy my phone for more than 1 year.

But i'll guess most of the Nokia crowd are so used to it to just throw away a mobile phone after 1 year to buy a new one, so THAT'S nothing new.
