Anonymous, 23 May 2010who is better nokia n8 or sony ericsson x10?X10 cause of the Android OS way better than symbian!
Anonymous, 23 May 2010UI looks so poor...
In comparion to Android 2.2, yes, it's true then.
Just look here on how nice and clean the home page to Android 2.2 looks: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2010/05/froyo-main-screens-rm-eng.jpg
However, if you looks at iPhone OS, then Symbian ^3 looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay way better then.
Here is a good example on how a bad designed UI looks: http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/iphone-os-4-theme.png
iPhone OS looks like a rainbow heaven for kids in my eyes.
I'll take Symbian ^3 or ^4 any days over iPhone OS 4.
Matar, 23 May 2010I was using Nokia before i found out Iphone 3gs,when i was using nokia mobile all type from ol... moreThe Iphone, which I own, stinks at basic connectivity, like calling and bluetooth. In that respect, the average Nokia device is way ahead. This N8 here might be the best reason to switch back to Nokia in years. I intend to buy one!
I was using Nokia before i found out Iphone 3gs,when i was using nokia mobile all type from old models up to N95 and E60,E61,E61i,E71 and E72, i used to switch phones every 3months thinking that Nokia will imporove the quality of swiching on and off for no reason and Bluetooth in their phones but i have wasted my money with them and they never improved any of their phones at this moment i am using Iphone 3gs and very happy with good quality and has bluetooth quality connections with most headsets Good Bye Nokia thanks Iphone for the quality.
[deleted post]And i forgot to say that you can't be much updated about how much Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 actually sells. Just look here: http://sefanboy.com/2010/05/20/xperia-x10-the-best-selling-phone-in-japan/
And this is just in Japan.
Yeah, no one buys XPERIA X10 at all.
I think the speed of the phone and CPU + GPU might just be good enough.
We want or more high quality getup.cause it has 12mp.I use nokia n97.but I can fell perfect phone it is.i also think N8 nat a perfect phone for all people.
Zuber, 23 May 2010Is N8 better or X10???that depend, what you're gonna use your phone for?? (wow, is it just me or nowadays we choose phone just like we choose CPU, depend on the usage...)
ANONYMOUS, 23 May 2010the phone is great! over-all features and packaging is great!

I have had my 5800 for about an year now in very rough use, still there isn't a single scratch on its camera lens.
The N8 lens is even made of a better scratch resistant material so it will have an even better life span.
ANONYMOUS, 23 May 2010the phone is great! over-all features and packaging is great! one thing that turns me off i... moredont worry, it uses a scratch resistant lens glass, and if I'm not mistaken, better material than it used to. So if you use this phone normally, it wont scratch, unless you try to scratch it intentionally
the phone is great! over-all features and packaging is great!
one thing that turns me off is that, it has no camera lens cover!!!!!!!!!!
i believe camera's lens are sensitive and nokia produces phone with camera cover even if the phone has lower megapixels....
but why in the world have you forgot designing this device without cover???????
my n82 device is a legend! its camera cover is perfect for it gives a long lasting protection and a lifetime durability while this new n8 which has no camera cover has lower lifespan and lower durability therefore it's not a perfect design for that wonderful features of the phone.....
nokia, please re-design the phone with camera cover.....
i'm calling the public especially the nokia power-users to please support me with this concern... thank you!
It would be really appreciated for the reply in the following queries.
Is feature included into N8, and free or any charges!
- Push to Talk
- Text to Speech
- Office Edition
- Remote Wipe
- Wireless Presenter through WiPresenter
- Traveler App
Thanks in advance for any advices.
Before talking about specs some people should learn how to read them.
Symbian^3 use hardware acceleration for 2D and 3D. The CPU is still used for sending instructions to the GPU for example but it is the graphic chip that is doing the biggest part of the job.
Same thing for recording and playing HD videos. The N8 use a dedicated (and powerful) chip for these tasks (a Broadcom BCM2727 accordind to tweakers.net).
Since the two most intensive tasks are handled by a dedicated processor, what will the CPU have to do ? Do I need a 1GHz cortex A8 if I want to type text, downloading podcasts, and listening to music at the same time? On Symbian the answer is definitively NO.
Thanks, Nokia was smart enough to use a CPU that doesn't limit these dedicated chips. And they didn't use a too powerful CPU which would eat the battery unnecessarily.
Why is the 640*360 resolution still a good choice for a smartphone in 2010? Well first, a lot of smartphones are still sold with lower resolution (QVGA is even coming to Android).
And more importantly, this resolution is exactly 1/4 of 1280*720 (HD-Ready) and 1/9 of 1920*1080 (Full HD). It means that your HD content will be displayed full screen with no black bands and that it is easier for the hardware to adapt the resolution of the video to the resolution of the screen.
Don't forget that this device is really about media consumption and creation.
