I am using pr1.2 firmware and it good but i think meego os will be very good for nokia n900 in my option.
No other smartphone or mobile computer (internet tablet) as phone feature.
the nokia n900 is in a league of it's own.
I can also mention that ppl use their N900 as servers, running Apache and PHP. And, want the most advanced photo editor on a handheld device ever? Compare the free GIMP of N900 to any overpriced photo editior on any other device, and try to run a full Office suite on any other device, and on top of it all, for free? And this is supposed to be bad stuff?
Anonymous, 17 May 2010Some powerful hardware on this phone, but I am sorry but Symbian is the poorest of all the tou... moreSo whats your problem with Maemo 5? I think the only problem is that you never tried it. Look at what N900 can do, and then tell me any other phone that comes close? N900 does not have any real competition, WinMo cant run those "full version" complex programs that was written for real PC, its not even compatible with Windows, while Maemo/Easy Debian on N900 can run pretty much anything that Debian has compiled for ARM processors. One of a kind.. But ok, too advanced for regular users for some reason, Meego will fix that pretty soon, but i do have to question peoples IQ if they cant use an N900...
N8 should be easily available in market & 12 mega pixel means you can bring person who is far away from you with clear picture their shouldnt be blurr if you zoom completely...
Dont Get Me Wrong.... I used only nokia and my future phone will be nokia.
Long Live Nokia.
for nokia user only LOL.
if u want a smartphone aka mobile computer get N900.
if u want value for money get C6.
if u want to support nokia until they release symbian^4 or meego device get N8.
support nokia even sometime i feel their are
Anonymous, 17 May 2010Some powerful hardware on this phone, but I am sorry but Symbian is the poorest of all the tou... morecant agree with you mate, cause this device is using a new Symbian OS (Symbian^3), specifically designed for a touch device.
Different from the latest generation symbian available now (Symbian^1) that's used in a few nokia's touch model, from the first 5800, untill, the latest C6. That merely a Symbian S60v3 that's changed to used on a touch screen device.
Symbian^3, from what I read (few people has tried it, although it's still in a developing stage) is more stable and more intuitive with more customization option available.
So, you cant say a thing until you experienced the Symbian^3 for yourself arent you??
Some powerful hardware on this phone, but I am sorry but Symbian is the poorest of all the touch screen OS's. Until Symbian improves or is replaced (by something better than maemo) then I will not purchase another Nokia phone. Shame, because I have always thought their camera's were the best of any mobile device.
Anonymous, 17 May 2010agree with u, N8 is like 5800, for mid range user and also for testing purpose. hopefully they... moreAgree too. And, it feels like Nokia in entering a popularity contest with N8, competing with nonsense phones from Samsung. A real Tween handset, where the focus is on POPULAR specs, the things that tweens think is a must-have, not coz they need it, but coz others have it. Things that are nice to have, but not really important or even very useful, like multitouch, its a gimmick that experienced cellfone know isnt all that useful, if at all. And a super-megapix where 99% of us cant tell the difference from a 3 year old N82 photo. All these high specs in narrow areas, and still it cant do what N900 can.
I do however agree that its a 12mpix multitouch done right, it shows Samsung and other jalla-manufacturers how to make good overblown specs in non-important areas, its just that there are more important things a next-gen smartphone should do, N900 can do them but not this one?
ANd... If nokia want popularity test with tasteless manufacturers then why didnt they make a display that matches them? Because high res display is one of the areas where high spec is more than a tween factor.
android_king, 17 May 2010u should know that symbian^3 is not what u will be anticipating, infact symbian^3 is nothing b... moreagree with u, N8 is like 5800, for mid range user and also for testing purpose. hopefully they will release symbian^4 by 4Q 2010 and N8 can be upgrade to symbian^4 or else its just a waste.
its a bonus if meego device launch by 3Q and store start selling by 4Q,
still can't wait for C6,N8 to be release. Nokia will dominate the mid range market once again. For high end device lets wait for 4Q or next year LOL.
Anonymous, 17 May 2010S^3 will be best of both worlds. Great functionality from S60 v3 and v5 combined with eye cand... moreu should know that symbian^3 is not what u will be anticipating, infact symbian^3 is nothing but symbian^1 only with multitouch and extended homescreens, Nokias future will be the symbian^4 and maemo 6 and Meego, infact symbian^3 is what symbian^1 should be..
i hope the mono speaker can be like their first xpress music device the nokia3250(king of nokia sound ever)
