Scorpions, 16 May 2010Hi TOM, I think you always believe what u think and that should be always right. I am go... morei look at both your arguments, but i cant say i get carried away by a discussion of which is the lesser of two evils. X10 or N8, who cares, Android vs Symbian, not interesting... Meego is all that matters now, Maemo 5 is great already, real computer operating systems, very solid and almost unlimited in possibilities. Thats what ppl shud be concerned about, the new category of cellfones, where N900 is already showing the way, its more than a smartphone. The sucessor of N900 is the only cellfone worth waiting for. In my opinion =)
Scorpions, you can say whatever you like, but your totally wrong about the X10's screen. Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=656717
And then you find this link in that topic: http://developer.sonyericsson.com/getDocument.do?docId=102192
Now, who is lying :-) ?.
When Sony Ericsson it self says the X10 have 'Shutter proof sheet on mineral glass' on it's screen, then it have it.
So i'm right.
i have faith that the new symbian^3 OS will regain its respect..hardware are quiet impressive..will wait for the release and review about this phone..
Anonymous, 16 May 2010You're right about that, the N8 will be a game changer. In terms of price and hardware feature... moreBelieve me new os ui is good
Tom-Helge, 16 May 2010Sony Ericsson doesn't have plastic screen, it have a scratch proof mineral glass screen.
SO... moreHi TOM,
I think you always believe what u think and that should be always right.
I am going to give you links which will prove what I am telling and reinforce the fact that X10 has plastic screen.

Hardware
In terms of appearance, we think the X10 is pretty polarizing, which might be a surprising statement considering that it's little more than a large slate -- and who doesn't want that, right? Specifically, we took issue with two things here: first, the front of the device is glossy plastic. Often, glossy plastic looks good when it's new and clean -- in pictures, anyhow -- but a few smudges and a brush with your car keys in your pocket later, it can easily be transformed into a war-scarred hellscape. As you might imagine, we didn't scratch test the X10 (we can't imagine our gracious handlers at Sony Ericsson would appreciate that too much), but it's a cause for concern.

So in terms of external features, the X10 holds up well but sadly when it comes to build quality it isn't quite so impressive. This is largely down to a plastic screen, which instantly gives it a cheaper feel than devices like the iPhone 3GS and HTC Desire that use glass screens. Its buttons also feel rather mushy and wobbly, making them unsatisfying to press. Also, its pointy corners dig into your hand, which is a basic ergonomics fail!

GSMARENA itself where u r posting these comments

The build quality of the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is solid. The matt plastic on the back is quite fingerprint resistant and soft to touch. It's only the front panel that takes on an increasingly smudgy (blurry) appearance as the day goes by.

Either these professional reviews are lying or you are lying. I can give you more proofs but engadget should be more than enough as a proof.
Come on nokia, its the OS that matters.. dont be left behind by your competitors. They are releasing to the public awesome devices and your being left behind. Why dont you release an android powered N8 just to keep up with the pack and release the symbian 3 version later if they are ready. I cant wait long enough for the N8.
Tom-Helge, 16 May 2010Well first of all, i have been working with mobiles phones for many many years. So i kinda kno... morenewsflash...I don't really care about you...so go ahead and buy whatever wou want..."expert"
i guess that this forum is for the N8, and not your personal blogspot, so i gues nobody realy cares WHAT you buy.
So go ight ahead, buy one of those pieces of sh1t plastic phones. Oh, and on second thought, why buy a SE "smartphone" when their smartphones aren't even "home-made"...but by HTC, or using Symbian. Why not get the ORIGINAL Htc or Nokia. I'll tell you why: because SE is CHEAPER, using cheap materials, cheap port sockets, cheap build quality, cheap accesories, etc. SE is only good for using about 1year, after 1 year they get so "degraded" you ight as well throw them away.
nokia done it again the show the world that they are the #1 in cell phone company thank u nokia
hi thats one great the nokia launched this is a mobile ............... i m surely going to buy it
support divx, xvid?
Anonymous, 16 May 2010I have seen the Symbian^3 demos. It is not a game changer like Meego...nor is it intended to c... moreYou're right about that, the N8 will be a game changer. In terms of price and hardware features (besides physical RAM (16 Gig mass storage aside), screen type and res and processor spec, this phone has perhaps the best hardware features available and at an absolutely fantastic price.
This phone will win on a couple of grounds.
Firstly, those who prefer features over flexibility. Like the N97, I don't believe that the phone will provide the flexibility of say Windows Mobile, iPhone, or even Android. App developers struggle to create apps for Symbian. Think about why we don't have "digital copy downloads" for Symbian etc, or no DivX players (unlike the one we had for N95).
Secondly, the phone will attract people who aren't too bothered about the interface - perhaps looking for something like the N95. This is a nice phone. It still feels tired and dated to me, but I've been using Symbian since the 3360 I believe.
Thirdly, price. With the features, it is a winner. If you can overcome the UI and the lack of official apps, then this WILL be an amazing phone.

SO... moreI think when we want to use our phone for GPS navigation, OVI rules!!! because ovi maps can be pre-stored on the device.
I can be sure to use ovi maps where there were no phone signal, like in the mountain, on remote island, or on the sea.
Scorpions, 16 May 2010I am not able to understand this. X10 has Li-Po 1500mAh and its well known for Battery prob... moreBut you can carry Nokia Extra Power (forgot model number). Its a pocket friendly device and better option than carry two spare battery.. Google it for more knowledge..
Sony Ericsson doesn't have plastic screen, it have a scratch proof mineral glass screen.
SOme guys at XDA-Developers even says that the screen protector that comes with the X10 is pointless because you should be damn good to scratch the X10's screen by using it normally.
Well atm the X10 is not the best Smartphone to buy. But because it will get really nice later when it's getting the Android 2.1 update and when the battery issue will be fixed, then you have one of the best Smartphones on the market. Even in Q4 this year.
Yes you have to manually set the light on when you have to take pictures, but that's also getting fixed in Android 2.1.
Not sure why others says the X10 is out of bad plastic quality, because my X10 (yes i actually owns it) does have very good plastic quality.
And the thing about the buttons is personal tastes. I have no problems to press the buttons. So they are perfectly fine for me.
I also forgot to say that when you want to use your phone as a GPS, then 4-inch over 3.5-inch. That's for sure.

I hope the battery of this phone is powerful, cause its useless if its not?
__... moreI am not able to understand this.
X10 has Li-Po 1500mAh and its well known for Battery problems.
Nokia E63 uses Li-P0 of 1500mAh.
Battery for N8 should have been better. Unfortunately its not.
Now
- N8 has AMOLED screen which takes lesser battery power
- N8 runs Symbian 3. Symbian^3 is a rework of Symbian^1, fixing and improving the OS from the base to the top. Conclusion is Symbian itself takes less battery power.
Conclusion – Nobody can argue that N8 has lesser battery power than most of its competitive devices. But my belief is it should be enough for a day’s optimum use. And touch devices requires daily charge.
Disadvantage – You can’t keep a spare battery with you because N8 battery is not easily replaceable. Not quite happy with the N8 Screw approach.

Anonymous, 16 May 2010have you even looked at the specs of SE Vivaz and Xperia X10? N8 beats Vivaz hands down. depen... moreAnd some few months after Nokia N8 is released, then X10 will get Android 2.1. It will also get HD recording in 720p and most likely autofocus under recording, like Vivaz have.
And also, you don't buy a Smartphone to just take pictures and record movies with. You use a Smartphones to do alot of things with it. And when it's about that, i'll take a phone with most ram, best CPU, biggest screen then.
Believe me when i say it, when you surf the web and watch movies, then highest resolution possible is the way to go.
And if your going to buy a phone like this, your most likely to take alot of pictures outside. And what happens if your outside with alot sun with AMOLED screens?. Yes, they are horrible in sun. You don't see much then.
I'll take TFT screens way before i even thinks about AMOLED screens if it's about using your phone alot outside.
Super AMOLED is the way to go if you want a really good screen.
If there really is a phone from Nokia i want, it have to be the N900.
killaudio, 16 May 20104" super AMOLED display, 480x800 wvga resolution, arm cortex a8 hummingbird processor, an... morethat's samsung galaxy S spec you're saying....
for 600 euro.... that's not even close to be called N8 competitor, N8 only priced 370 euro....
