If you have a mobile company, you don't add a 1GHz processor for the sake of adding one. We yet to see the performance of the OS on them.
Yes, the screen resolution should have been pumped up.
The glass over the lens is said by Nokia to be scratch resistant to protect the lens, they said they could have put a protecting cover but that would make it about 3mm thicker, and they also are saying applications would need to use camera faster, so you don't need every time to open the lens cover. And actually it does have LED flash for video recording. It doesn't have variable aperture but it performs almost equally to say N86 in low-light conditions thanks to the more sensitive sensor and in bright light, it uses Neutral Density filter that slides into the optics automatically when the light exceeds a certain threshold. You can find all you need to know about the camera here http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/features/item/The_making_of_the_Nokia_N8s_camera.php

Good job
This phone is not putting anything new on the table.Symbian^3 is just a polished version of Symbian^1(aka S60 rel.5).These features should have been present in first place in Symbian^1.
The muli-touch,Kinetic scrolling that has been added recently is nothing of an innonvation. Its present in the Iphone since 2007 and more recently on features phones and Android.
The screen resolution is just nHD(640*360),where its competitors are using Super Amoled screens with atleast WVGA(800*480) or better resolutions;"Iphone HD"(960*640).
The amout of RAM is insufficient at 256MB for a smart phone. Also it is using an already outdated ARM processor clocked at 680MHz where competitors are using Snapdragon(1Ghz or better) powered handsets.
This is supposed to be a camera phone, but it does not have type of lens protection, nor any LED for serving as video light.Yhe camera of Samsung Pixon 12 and Nokia N86 8MP are more advanced as they uses variable aperture along with 28mm wide angled lens although it does have wide angled lens.
So in conclusion,I can say that this phone may not have the same hype that the N95 0r Iphone generated when they launched in the market.Several features of the phone is already outdated even before its release...
Better match this:

It looks very well to me. This camera will be amazing, the screen too. I wait for N8&will take it in the very first minute i can.
OMG......... its the first fone of my type after the BEST OMNIA HD..... i think the release of this fone will bring an update to omnia HD enabling multi touch in that fone
Will it be able to run mobile version of Internet Explorer/ Firefox?
wow, n97 lifespan is very short, just 1 yr and receives 1 or 2 updates! and now another new symbian and new phone itself! *sigh* nokia should make their customer satisfied and happy. :(
i hope nokia will soon release a resistive touchscreen version of this phone.
coz i prefer resistive touchscreen (i don't mind using stylus).
i don't like capacitive touchscreen and i don't really care about multitouch or sowhatever. it's just a children's play anyway.
Anonymous, 12 May 2010It seems that it has no protection on camera. Thats means it will be scratch . (Nokia pls pls ... moreNokia says the glass over the lens is scratch resistant!
It seems that it has no protection on camera. Thats means it will be scratch . (Nokia pls pls pls don't produce any phone with out protection on camera)
where are people getting the facts that maemo/meego are high end and symbian are mid range? maemo/meego are tablet OS, and symbian are smartphones---they are different
MuzdweG, 12 May 2010Dear Friends
i want to ask about this phone
is this an Excellent phone i mean this Phone is... moreNobody knows the answer to your question mate. Both phones have not been released yet.
Going by spec though if photography is your preferred function of a smartphone then N8 wins hands down.
Both will have Hdmi out price wise N8 will be cheaper. Both Symbian ^3 and apple OS 4.0 are new and have not yet been truly tested by the populace who are the true testers. So wait till both phones are released then ask your questions
Dear Friends
i want to ask about this phone
is this an Excellent phone i mean this Phone is more better than I phone 4G
or what i think this is a good phone
thanks in advance
hehe, okp, uv totally lost ur crdibility, yes, the N8 isnt out, but werent you just taking about the apple 5G...as in 5?? seriously, you know that'l come out in a yr at best ryt? and u trying to suggest that commenters here havn used those phone is pure hogwash and frankly couldn be bothered with your unbased and biased opinion.....and please, dont talk about sammy hardware on a nokia forum page, fact is, sammy usually has sub-par hardware compared to nokia (dont give me that S-amoled talk, i said usually, and credit where its due, sammy deserves a kudos on that) the camera on ur phone there could hardly beat the nokia n86...a phone i own, combined with sammy's f/w upgrade on post-sale devices, or lack thereof, works for a consumer experience that high-end nokia users (as well as apple) have come to expect...case in point, nokia hardware is potentially the most riveting in today's market..yes, HTC is pretty awesome too, but virtually no f/w upgrades are commissioned out.
again new phones, new technology, still crap batteries, still no 3000 mah power batteries that last at least a week or more
[deleted post]if nokia can make a joke, so they put a false videos on youtube (virtual n8), why someone would not so virtual that sells it: P
