AnonD-2912, 05 Sep 2012 Dear Friend, Very interesting though you've not given true facts, 1) Can you get 200 m... moreSo, how many years, 18? Kind of! First of all: Yes do a hard reset in official belle and you will have the "unbelievable" surprise to have 200 mb of memory (i'll give you my address so you can send me your n8). But... there are apps that i and everybody needs that would be deleted when hard reset and is quite hard to get them back. (maps, photo/video editor, f-secure, quickofice, adobe, check in, social etc.) This apps here are from, big to very big.
Second off all: did i said that you cannot make folders in custom firmware?:)). When you read you need to know what you read man, read one more time and pay attention on what you read. I've said that i like the official belle allot because i can customize it easier than previous symbian. So, with this fact, i don't need to install custom firmware because it has folders (i hate pre-build folders, i hate pre-build mod's) is it so hard to understand this?. I never said that is easier to do it by your self. I said that i don't mind doing this by my self!!! PAY ATTEntion. In fact i like doing everything in my phone by my self. Therefor, i don't like at all 1000 mod's pre-installed in my system, which i don't need. So what can i say? custom firmwares are for lazy "geeks" and for normal user!!! Don't call me a normal user, don't even spell this in my face. If i want a custom firmware i will do it by my self, i don't need others idea of how my system should look, feel and be like.
I also told you, the things with the camera you praise so much are not for a photographer (also not for me). They are just for kids playing with the camera. But you keep ignoring, or you are just a kido that don't understand the simple things i say. Given the fact that you've understood nothing until now, i kind of start to believe this. If i need a freaqin 16:9 photo i take it with 9mp (what's the point and the use of the other options?:)). Why would i need 8, 5 , 3mp in this format when i have 9? if i want a smaller pic in this format, i just re-size the damm pic. I need quality, not 3 mp at 16:9 format. What a dumb idea anyway!!! I also told you, i edit most of my pics in my computer. SO I NEED THE BEST JPEG QUALITY THAT I CAN HAVE WITH THIS CAMERA. And yes, camera has contrast and exposure (no saturation), i told you once. Most of the things you listed here (besides the really useless settings made for kids) in therms of camera are highly recommended to edit in your computer, simple rules of photography. (but you don't know how to do that, don't you?;) herr geek... my arsch.

Anonymous, 04 Sep 2012As i was saying, custom firmwares aren't very good. First of all: i like to make my own folder... more
          Dear Friend,

Very interesting though you've not given true facts,

          1) Can you get 200 mb free space in C: using hard reset..? (Very funny, If you can do that, I'll give my N8 to you as a gift.)

          2) Creating folders? What are you talking about? I can create folders as much as I wish in Custom firmwares too.

          3) Hacking & Installing mods is easier rather than custom firmwares? What? Installing Custom firmware will only take 4 minutes.. That has more than 100 of Mods/customizations etc. But if you want to try 100 mods manually, then it'll take at least a day for you to complete that...

          4) Can N8 default camera app change contrast or saturation? I'll be glad to use it then.. Can it take 3 MP, 5 MP or 8 MP wide screen photos? I'll be glad to use it then.. (Don't mislead people with false information.) Of course I know it can take 16:9 9 MP photos and that's why I mentioned it can't take 3 MP, 5 MP or 8 MP only.. And I said only good thing about default camera is that's more stable.. (You misunderstood what I said.)

          Conclusion:

Installing Custom firmware and make use of advanced applications is for Geeks, not for ordinary users.

If you love to stuck with original things even though they suck, that's your choice..

I'm trying to help out the people who need to adventure more and who need to see the difference...

          Cheers,
          Nuwan

Please can anyone explain to me in details the difference between the Quickoffice & this Microsoft office suite that has been popping up on my software update, despite all my attempts to resist the temptation of downloading it & further depleting my C: space??? Objectively speaking, which one is better, or must one have both to be complete in office document?? Thanks in anticipation of gratifying response. I can't really explain why I keep loving my n8; even the flairs of modern phones (even the closer brother, nokia 808) can't sway me from my love of over 22 months, whose ingenuity still whoas folks of modern I0S & Androids!!! Will I ever get a phone that will serve me so faithfully like this timeless masterpiece of attention-to-details built??? I can only keep thanking Nokia for endearing this machine the more to my heart by releasing the Belle refresh!!! Thanks & thanks & thanks!!!!

AnonD-2912, 04 Sep 2012 Dear all friends, I will try my best to answer each one of you step by step. 1) 'Is ca... moreAs i was saying, custom firmwares aren't very good. First of all: i like to make my own folders and to arrange them in my own way. This, i was doing since my first symbian (7650). So for me symbian belle? Oh my God what a help! Not to have to enter in folders, pulling out all the apps, deleting all the folders(ok, not quite all) creating new folders with my specifications, not to have to find all not needing apps etc etc etc. WHAT A RELIEF!!! Second off all: it is not hard for me to hack and to mod my phone the way i like... so i don't need a custom firmware. Also i can have more then 200 mb buy just hard resetting the device. But, i don't need to, cause, i need those apps installed in c. Ok, and... default camera sucks?:)) Has all that you need in a camera. From face detect, to grind, to self timer, to change colors, to contrast, to white balance, to sharpness, to exposure, to iso control. etc.. I never had problems focusing in the dark, and if you want to keep the focus and photograph something else, just keep the half button pressed. Anyway the rest of what you said really does not matter, i always edit my photos. So from the camera all i need is the best quality it can give(THE BEST) which camerapro doesn't provide. I tried this tool every time it got updated only because the adjustments are more handy, BUT... picture quality (which i need the most) sux big time:). And being more stable?:))), I start to think you never used official belle or anna;). You can also have a 16:9 format just by selecting 9 mp in settings (or more easier is to cross two fingers when camera is started (just like pinch to zoom) and the 9mp setting will automatically adjust. As i was saying. Camera Pro has nothing new. Besides some uninteresting things for a photographer;)

I totally understand what you say regarding Nokia store.. (Sorry for the old term 'OVI store')

If you don't mind pirated apps, you may go n8fanclub and will indeed find thousands of apps that you might have never thought as ever existed for symbian..

HD games alone, they've got more than 500 list..!

Who ever play 500 HD games in a single mobile device...?

You asked who would download apps from Ovi store (it's actually called Nokia store). Well, me for one because most applications can only be obtained from Nokia store due to the developers of the apps not having their own download sites. It is true that some developers have their own websites to download or purchase from but not all.

I also agree that we shouldn't be downloading cracked or pirated apps because that can only harm the developers. However, it's too late for that now because many developers have abandoned Symbian and Symbian will be killed off by 2016, if not sooner. I reckon the 808 Pureview will be the last ever Symbian device that Nokia have released. We won't see another new Symbian phone released from Nokia.

                                    Dear all friends,

I will try my best to answer each one of you step by step.

                                    1) 'Is camerapro free?'
Answer: No. It's not. But I suggest you to try google 'camerapro n8fanclub download' and you'll get that. (But it's always better if you can pay for the developer.)

                                    2) 'Can you confirm all the apps you've mentioned can be found in Ovi store?'
Answer: OVI store...? Are you kidding me...? Who's going to download things from ovi store which utterly sucks...! Never ever go there you'll be bored with your n8 too.. Always find apps like this.. 'application name n8fanclub download' But i have to tell you, these apps are either cracked ones or pirated ones.. Try them if you don't have money.. But if you do, always pay and buy.. We need to encourage symbian developers..

                                    3) 'Is delight 5.2 compatible with Belle?'
Answer: Dear brother, it's already belle and yes, one of the latest leaked versions.. (Now belle refresh available by the way and lots of custom firmwares too are out for that.)

                                    4) 'How to find sound improvement mod?'
Answer: First of all your phone must be hacked. (If you have delight 5.2 installed then it's already hacked not to worry.)
Finding the mod is piece of cake. (Just google 'sound improvement mod for nokia n8) But installing it is the tricky part. But considering the out come you MUST try that.. Follow all the steps and do your homework before trying. (That means study well.) Remember to install Version 3.3 which is latest.

                                    5) 'How to store sms in mass memory?'
Answer: As I said, there's no such option in Belle. However I strongly suggest this. Normal text messages will never be able to fill you C phone memory even though you've got 40000 messages in your inbox. But bluetooth messages are stored in inbox and that's one of the major reasons why phone memory is filled always.
Solution is simple. Try to find all the bluetooth messages in your inbox and delete one by one.
As an alternative to the default SMS system, I strongly suggest you to use 'Free i-sms' which is really great.. (It's conversation type and just like that of i-phone)
Remember to install each and every application in mass memory. (Another good reason to save phone memory.)

                                    6) 'Contradictions to your points' by Carol.
Answer: Dear Carol, I appreciate your hard efforts for Symbian here in N8 forum as well as 808 forums since I've read many of your posts here and there.
However I dare to say that you're wrong when you say 'Custom firmwares are no better' because it's not the truth.. Never the truth.. Just try Delight 5.2 and just point outs more bugs which are not already available in Belle original firmware itself. If you can give me one single bug, I'll quit posting here...!
(For other users to give small sense of custom firmwares I'd say very few advantages of them.. 'more than 200 mb phone memory free space, Gallery & music only search for specific folders, No beep in call recordings, can install any application without having error messages, much better Menu arrangements with many folders, app rename, folder rename, custom theme effects easy to install etc etc...)

                                    7) 'Camerapro has nothing new' - by Carol
Answer: with all due respect dear Carol, do you know what you're talking about? Despite of being more stable, default camera application utterly sucks in N8.. (In 808 it's much better though)
I'll tell you why. Using default application,

                                    i) Can you manually adjust saturation/contrast/brightness etc?
ii) Can you focus on one darker area and keep the white balance as it's and capture another object with previous white balance unchanged? (I love that feature, best for a photographic geek)
iii) Can you have many custom presets?
iv) Can you have 3 MP, 5 MP, 8 MP wide screen (16:9) photos?
I think your answer would be 'No' for all above. Camerapro does above all and even more. Enough answer I guess..

No offense all my friends especially including Carol...! I really like you guys who're trying your best to keep Symbian alive...! Me too here.

                                    Cheers,
                                    Nuwan

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2012Dear friends, I'm commenting here after a heavy usage of my beloved Nokia n8 for more than ... morei would like to contradict you at some points. Custom firmwares are not so great, some of them quite suck and almost all of them contain bugs. CameraPro has nothing new. You can costumize thouse settings with default camera. Also i prefer the default camera cause is just producing way better photos and better colours. May camerapro have adjustable jpeg quality (from 0 to 100%) but even at 100% is not even neer the default camera quality (hit some zoom, you will now what i'm talking about). With 95% mod at 12 MP, my camera is awsome, especialy at my demending when editing photos... N8 is slower then galaxy2 but in front of first edition is better. Also galaxy 2 is better in browsing, the rest of things you can easily ignore having a way better battery and signal.

Anonymous, 03 Sep 2012Nice belle refresh update but HTML5 web suspence.I discovered some issuses in browser. My n8 got blocked two times in a raw, after after short browsing throuhg a site with some hd flash effects(www.talkline.de). I had to force shutdown by 8 seconds power button. Never happend to me one year now. And after the update this came up. Strange. Anyway i tryed the site with opera and nothing happend, everything was working fine. I tried again with original browser and also did'n freez again. But what was with thouse two times in a raw by 10 min maximum, distance...?
