suvarna53, 01 Jan 2012My N8 display goes off when ever i get a call before receiving it and during making the call.... moreit is different from the light sensor meaning. at night if you talk and put it on your ear screen will shut off but only when it is on your ear. in this case, its not that.. this time It just locks the screen. it happes in a sunny day or where ever is a strong light. just move the unlock key on the side and it will unlock the screen..
android let me down it terms of battery life... It really sucks.. And i don't want my phone to charge twice a day as iam a heavy user...

Dear brother Leon,
Thank you very much for your reply again... I have to admit that I'm a Nokia fan boy in the first place.. But in the meantime I have complaints too.. LOL.. I love the durability, build quality, camera, simplicity etc.. But I hate 'delayed market strategies', 'less frequent updates', 'carelessness about developing their OS', 'Less RAM and processor powers' etc..
I actually didn't know Android could open CAD files... OMG.. That's a really sweet thing.. (I'm too blind for the development of Android because I'm too much in to Symbian... LOL..)
I totally agree with you regarding your statements about WP7.. It's not a community developed OS in the first place so it's restricted.. (Obviously...) If I can't play with my device the way I wish.. then there's no use of it.. So even though N8's successor comes with a larger sensor than N8, I will definitely move to an Android device if it comes with Mango...!
hallo,im not too happy with my n8 , ive had it for just over a year now > upgraded to anna and then the phone started giving probles, firstly , my ovi maps aint working properly , and a few days ago my phone just died on me, wont charge etc..ive taken it into nokia and awaiting a reply...i am not shooting down n8 , but its the first phone out of 5 nokia handsets thats giving me such problems , i still have 6600,n70, and n82..maybe ?? will se be a better phoone next time around ?
And for the camera thingy, u can't compare our N8 camera to other phones, since it have great lens and still has the bigest image sensor ever put in a phone.
Even Xperia that use Xmor-R sensor its only good on the dark, but still can't beat N8 on detail n clarity (if u afraid of the dark, dun worry cause N8 come with a powerfull Xenon flash eventhough its not useable to take video brighter cause we need led for that lol)
I doubt that N8 successor will use even larger sensor, cause its quite difficult to put that large sensor but still deliver a good design (also we kindda need extra leds for making a good night/indoor vids). All i can think is they'll put a nice sets of Processor and adequate RAM just to accommodate in making a full HD (1080p). A great display can add the fun also (Nokia Clear-Black Display or S Amoled)
amit monga from amba, 30 Dec 2011i want to buy n8 .... So tell me its FAB(feature , adv, benfits) N tell DEFAULTS also , i... morebult quality, microphone, loudspeaker, earphone, signal, are excellent!!!!!!! in my opinion there is not other phone in the market with these performances. Also foto and video with this 12mp killer are excellent.
I already use leaked Belle on my N8 (the 0607 one, didn't want to change to 0609 yet cause i don't find any reason to use that version since all already smooth n great, and i'm too lazy reinstaling my apps n reg to ovi again). That is why i don't compare the UI in my both device since theyre both smooth (eventhough Galaxy S has the upper specs).
U have to admit that android OS is good for smartphones cause lots of dev makes apps to support it, as i said before i cant even find a good apps for playing all vids format for my N8, also theres bible app (in indo languange) that i use often, not to mention app to view .dwg (CAD files).
All of these i can't get on Symbian i get from android, well as always, nokia made a phone that user-friendly enough for me to use and be proud of it, but it seems not enough.
Cause its hard for me to be a fan boy, and think that 1 device is legend etc etc, n not experiencing the goods of both.
One thing i wont buy now is Win 7.5 Phones, with all those restriction on hardware n to much depend on Zune is killing all the fun u can get on a gadget. Its too bad Nokia wont making any phones based on Meego, cause i think its a promising OS.
Leon10, 01 Jan 2012I'm using N8 and Galaxy S (sym n droid), well both have their own good n bad, since i'm having... more
Dear brother Leon,
Thank you very much for your detailed answer... It seems you're still using Symbian Anna... Aren't you..? If you just try Belle in your N8, then you'll love it more... I assure you..
But, it has a similar look of android too.. (I don't know why nokia implemented it that way..) Specially the Notification bar (you can roll in and out to the screen like android) and so many home screens (in the Custom firmware I'm using, I can add as many as I want... Even 10 nos...) However folder/menu structure is still the same so you will not loose the faith in Symbian.. (I love this tree like menu structure of Symbian.. You can create folders and organize your menu as you wish unlike Android..)
I was thinking of buying SGS II someday but postphoning that idea as I am still not convinced whether it's really worth it despite of the hardware...
Anyways, I'll surely stick with my belle N8 for some more quality time and move when time comes.. (Most probably to N8's successor... Since I love the camera of this beauty... OMG.. How can I go to another mobile phone ever....? I tested Apple iphone 4 camera quality with my N8 and it was horrible...! I don't have to say it Do I...?)
Nuwan, 31 Dec 2011 Dear friends, I'm a very happy owner of an N8... (Delight Belle V 3.8 installed and doing... morehey mate i already used an entry level android phone with almost the same specs of n8 600mhz and 486mb ram droid phone.. Guess what performance wise it cannot beat n8 all of droid with the same specs.. Though android have lots of applications out there..
