Suddenly I fell in love with it as this is exactly the way I would use it (no data plan, wi-fi, and I have free Facebook Zero anyway). 3-5 days? Awesome! And i like the software too, it's more serious and less "video game" than the other 3-4 operating systems... yeah, I'm 37 so that might be why I prefer it like this. :-) Thanks for posting this, now I just need a pile of cash, haha.

AnonD-28798, 03 Nov 2011thanks for the reply. However i had read somewhere that the gpu used in 701 is claimed by noki... morehello friends, here are the differences between nokia n8 and nokia 701 for which many of you've been asking.
*****N8 vs 701*****:-

1. Display: amoled withot CBD vs LED IPS backlit(used in apple) with CBD.

2.brightness: 300nits vs 1000nits

3.mass memory: 16gb vs 8gb.

4.RAM: 256mb vs 512mb.

5. Processor: 680mhz vs 1ghz
6.camera: 12mpxl with carl zeiss and autofocus and xenon flash vs
8mpxl with full focus and dual LED flash(no carl zeiss)

7.HDMI: yes vs no

8.casing: anodized aluminium body vs steel fibre alloy body

9.battery:1200mah vs 1300mah

10.3G speed: 10mbps vs 14mbps.
11.GPU memory: 32mb vs 128mb (so 701's gpu is 4 times faster than N8).

12.bluetooth: without EDR vs with EDR.

13.internal phone memory:140mb vs 500mb.
14.nfc: no vs yes.
15operating system:symbian3 vs symbian belle

These r the basic differences. last but not the least....n8 is 1.5yrs old
model and 701 is latest.it has solid built quality.n8 has nothing crazy besides 12mpxl
camera and HDMI.i knw that no phone can beat n8's camera and casing but one thing is that the latest u buy,the less you cry.choice is yours.also depends on your needs.so
tell me now which one you are gonna buy.

A had my N8 symbian anna firmware updated. It is now ver 025.007. After downloading it and installed, I didn't noticed any changes. My question is, what the update is for?

Anyone out there who can answer my question? Thanks in advance.. =)

Although it's not the most powerful device, the 600 mhz processor works well with Symbian^3 and Anna. One of the first things I did was install SPB Shell 3D, it offers a quick, smooth, responsive homescreen (you can add as many screens as you want, I went with 7).

Anyways, it runs games fine, there aren't that many HD ones, but if you can find them they are optimized for the N8 and will work with its CPU and GPU. I currently have Avatar, Dungeon Hunter 2, Eternal Legend, Fruit Ninja, Galaxy On Fire, Hero of Sparta, Need for Speed Shift, Tetris HD, The Sims 3, and Spider-Man Total Mayhem.

I am very pleased with the hardware of the phone, what I mean is the aluminium casing and the 12 MP camera. Don't believe what all the people say about how superior other cameras are, this one is king, and will be for a while.

I find that many people are comparing it to Android devices, but I've always been a fan of symbian. One of the reasons is you do not need a data plan for it, I currently don't have one (just voice and texting). I don't need to check my social updates or whatever all the time, but when I do need it I usually just get it from WiFi. Believe me... unsecured linksys routers are everywhere.

Before the N8 I was a N82 user. I loved having a good camera everywhere I went. It's actually quite handy once you start using it.

The battery life is amazing. My average usage for one charge is... believe it or not, 5 days. I usually only use the phone for calls and texting though. Playing games and going on WiFi usually is about 3 days, which is still great compared to your standard Android device, which I've heard you need to charge daily.

The battery is easy to replace... I don't know why everyone pusses out about it. You just order the screw driver and get a new battery. Remove the bottom casing and there you have it. Even a caveman can do it.

I'm not saying the Nokia N8 is the BEST device ever, but it's a step in the right direction. And with the recently made Symbian Anna update to the U.S. I surely hope they don't drop Symbian.

I feel as though, even in this day and age, Symbian has gone through so much and if it can survive the battle of smart phone OS's it'll be along one of the tops, right with Android and iOS. Because let's face it... Symbian IS a very VERY efficient operating system.

AnonD-28798, 03 Nov 2011thanks for the reply. However i had read somewhere that the gpu used in 701 is claimed by noki... morewell if nokia claims that i dont know if its true since i guess the gpu on e6 and 701 is the same.. Anyway in real life scenario n8 can play those hd games without lag(asphalt6, dungeon hunter2, assassin creed hd, spiderman hd, etc) on lacks a bit of processing thats why laoding time is longer i think than 701. But you can play those hd games in lcd's/led's with n8 but its up to you. Good luck bro
