Recently i'v upgraded my N8(Anna) with latest updates which was release on 26th Oct. 2011 after this upgradation i found Metadata system upgrade(which is always running in my handset) now what i want to know is what is this Metadata system upgrade ?
and in it i found
1) location manager server occupied volume 16.80KB
2) blacklist server occupied volume 12.96 KB
3) harvester server occupied volume 39.44 KB and
4) mds server occupied volume 173.36 KB
Free memory in my handset
73 MB free RAM
102 MB free c drive phone memory
4 GB free E: Mass memory
4 GB Free memory card
and the main issue
Now my handset is giving some issue like unable to open photos and videos and whenever i switch Off and On the handset unable to load it ( only white screen shows ) i'v to try many times in order to open it
I need help.......

Also you can call the shop in advance to inquire if they have screens in stock to not waste your time! And they don't damage your phone w/c i find shocking in other comments from other countries after having their N8 fixed!!!

In the Philippines you go into the Nokia care store and show them the purple tint, then they check for your warranty then if there is any available screens they'll replace it immediately. So you can have it back at max 4 hours. Or wait for a week if no screens are available. Although they are actually replacing it with CBD as the screens blacks become deeper and darker. So I really wonder why is it harder for other users to have it replace in better countries?

The other thing to consider regarding your battery is it's relative newness. Newer batteries need to calibrated and conditioned which simply means a few weeks of re-charging cycles. Your battery life will improve.
You can't format the C: drive as such, so you won't be able to remove those applications that are a part of the firmware.
The smart installer checks whether any further components are needed, such as QT, when installing applications. What particular apps are you having difficulty with?

On n8 at early stage i have expected 2 full days of backup with avg use...but at the end disappointing result...
Tell me something about formating c drive, i want to get rid of unwanted preinstalled apps...
And what is nokia smart installer? Im unable to install lots of apps and games due to that. Every app and game asks for data connection due to that. If request turned down, it fails to install...very annoying...

Firstly there are many battery saving tips to consider to increase battery life:
Turn off Wi-Fi when you're not using it (same goes for 3G)
Use a Dark theme instead of a bright and colourful one.
Turn off Bluetooth.
Set Widgets to offline mode and only set them to online mode when needed.
Turn email synchronisation to manual or extend the sync period to hourly or every four hours. Also, when closing the email app, press options then exit rather than pressing the exit button next to the options button (this merely hides the app and doesn't close it).
Close down all apps that may be running in the background. Long press the menu button to see what apps are running in the background.
You will need to install the Applications 1/2 (mandatory) and 2/2 (important) and the Service pack to ensure optimal performance for your phone. Any problems you may have with Anna have been discussed and solved over on the Nokia support site.

A friend of mine has had his phone since last October and had a perfect working screen with no purple tint.
This August he broke the screen and had to send it back to Nokia for a replacement screen. It was returned to him with a new screen and the purple tint problem. So, even though Nokia have been made aware of and acknowledged this problem they stil haven't done anything to fix it.
As Sned has pointed out, they are selling new phones today with faulty screens.

I can't really comment on flashing the N8 with leaked or custom firmware as I've never done it myself.
However, I can tell you that it will carry the risk of bricking your phone so following the instructions exactly to the letter should ensure a successful flash.
I believe (from reading what others have said) that you will be able to update to the official Belle when it gets released by Nokia, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hello to every N8 users, this is the 5th day with my n8, got it with anna v22 onboard. Im very upset with its battery life, just lasts a day with moderate use. Is this okay with everyone? Or i have got a poor battery? Please give comments on this...
Btw, how to format c drive? What are the concequences i will face if i do so?
And what is update 1/2 , 2/2 and anna service pack? Any change log?

Advise from me, do... moreI think dear you are using N8 manufactured by china dual sim.. well about the camera result. Nokia announced this set the best camera smart mobile. so how can you compare this one with a 3.2 mpx camera you cant even compare a 3.2 mpx camera with n82 5 mpx camera ..
