To those who don't understand a couple of things.
      Let's take screens.
210 ppi for the 701 vs. 217 ppi for the S II.
Are you sure Nokia-haters that you still have sth to say. SII has "ancient" resolution 800x480 on such a huge screen. So what that it is Super duper amoeld with over saturated colors? Pixel density is almost identical with those on Nokia'as N8, C7, 701 and so on so on.
CBD is truly a great display. New generation IPS LCD from Nokia is great too. it doesn't have pixel density as Iphone 4 (neither any androphone) but it's symbian fault, not display itself.

      Second.
How many apps do you really need?
Do you know what smartphone means?
You think tha Ipone or androphone are smartphones. THE only smartphones? Twink again.
Nokia was the "first" known smartphones producer. And still is.
You got the best maps you can only have on mobile phone, fm transmitter, really good camera (sorry, but androphones still lacks in this department...i'd rather have 720p videos with smooth 24 frames and STEREO sound than jerking and chooping 1080p with MONO sound recorded in 3gp using DUAL core and gigs of ram to run the system smooth

Sun, 17 Oct 2011Hello people! I understand that the N8 has the best camera in the mobile business...! But how ... moreIm one of nokia fans and a great symbian lover.nokia 701 is the fastest and the brightest symbian smartphone available today with 1ghz processor and 512mb RAM.or wait for nokia 603.....n8 is the story of past now.it has nothing new besides 12mpxl cmos sensor.technology is changing day by day.i think...the latest u buy,the less you cry.rest is upto you....and yes belle has improved n8's performance a little bit but still not upto the mark.android needs more ram for its resources which is less in n8.processing speed is not an issue with n8.may be if it had come out with 512mb RAM,it would have been the greatest phone ever.

                  hey friends
i have a prediction about this beast of a smartphonr "the nokia N8"
do you guys suspect the n8's cpu will b clocked up to 1ghz?
look up the specs sheet of nokia 500
                  it has a 256mb ram, a 512mb rom, a 1ghz arm11 processor.
the n8 has these except that its arm11 cpu is clocked st 680mghz.
think about it friends, rememeber the nokia 5800?
there will be more reasons to love the n8,
for those who already own one, keep enjoying it, i am yet to own it.
                  i love the nokia n8

friends what do you guys think?

everyone, n8 is a good phone. who cares about symbian or nokia dying within next few years. just love the phone u have in your hand. we will be changing our phone within next 2 years anyway.

i'm sure most people like the camera and its other extra feature. whatever os in it, as long as it can deliver the function that is good enough.
user experience? can anybody define that so we can argue..

You Sir are mis-informed. Nokia did not introduce Symbian in the 1980's. It was established on 24 June 1998 as a partnership between Ericsson, Nokia, Motorola, and Psion (who were the original developers of it's predecessor, EPOC). So, what was once a brilliant OS has now become a sick joke in the mobile phone world due to all other manufacturers abandoning the platform in favour of newer more modern OS's, i.e, Android and BADA. Even Nokia themselves have realised it's out of date now and have moved to Windows Phone OS.

When will you people learn that Symbian has had it's day and is dead. As for your Windows analogy, that's completely irrelevant. The different versions of Windows over the years are different to each other in terms of the GUI, functionality and hardware support. Windows today can support multicore CPU's and 64 bit architecture. Windows 98 couldn't.
Just so you know, I also use Linux on my PC and not just Windows.

You stated that Symbian is the most customisable OS available! Where have you got this idea from? Have you ever seen or used an Android phone with a cooked ROM installed. Something like Darky's ROM on the Samsung Galaxy S. I have, because I tried it out on my own SGS. There are several other custom ROMs available too.

Finally, you very good at giving out criticism but can't take it in return so it's you who should grow up.

Enjoy your dead OS while you can.

Let me tell you why I'm against Nokia these days.
Nokia have lost their way in the smart phone business and are unable to produce a phone that is equal to or better than the top Android phones today. The closest thing they've got is the N9, but they will not be supporting the N9 so it's effectively dead on arrival.

Also, as previously mentioned, they will discontinue support for Symbian devices by 2016 and the updates for existing Symbian devices are pathetic.
Take Anna for example. That was supposed to arrive in the first quarter of 2011 as P.R. 2.0, but it got shelved and renamed as Anna then scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2011. So, they were working on the update from late 2011 and released it in August (for most of the world) but they still haven't fixed certain issues that have plagued the N8 since launch.
The browser is still rubbish, T9 input still doesn't learn certain words, you're still limited to three home screens and cannot add individual shortcuts to the home screen. They have to be added as a block of four.

As I've said before, developer support has dropped and it won't be long before it stops altogether.

Enjoy your N8 for as long as you can but don't expect anything good from Nokia or third party developers in the future.

                                    All the best.

                                    Ray

I am a user of N8 & first of all, "keep N8-ing" is NOT a silly slogan, but was introduced by me as it came from my heart when I first started to use it.
Second, I don't know, why do you use Windows OS? That is more than few more decased older than Symbian. Maybe you don't, as I have noticed lack in your judgement. But 90% people around the world uses Windows OS. That is, because with time, the maturity becomes higher. Similarly, Nokia introduced Symbian in early 80's, true, but through time it became more mature than ANY OS available at present. Remember, Symbian was the first OS for mobile to introduce the word multitasking in phones. Symbian defined the word smart-phone in the dictionary. I can go on and on. Maybe at that time you even didn't see a smart-phone when I used one. You can't change the fact that for an OS, older means maturity, not outdated. I still am in love with Symbian, it IS the most customisable OS available (silver medal goes to MeeGo). What I miss is that recently Nokia is NOT working on Symbian anymore as they are planning on Windows phones. That is where Symbian is getting neglected & not getting enough tests & crashing on the way of use. Believe me, I started using Symbian Since 6600 & those were the golden phones. Even now, the selling record of 6600 was broken ONLY by N70, which, my friend, is also a Symbian phone. Only iPhone4 could break that record because they could create a hype, not because the OS itself is superior to Symbian.
Some of us try to learn, others keep on shouting. One other thing, if you hate Symbian THIS MUCH, who the hell asked you to visit this page? If you can't give some constructive opinion (good or bad, but constructive, not hitting someone's feelings, like saying: silly slogan), stop writing here. Hope you are old enough to learn. I'll see that in your reply. Please, grow up.
                                      Take care.
