Directly copying Android OS is a lazy and cheap way of trying to please Symbian us... moreits simple if u dont like belle thn dont use it or buy a nokia with belle, i personally love belle and happy to see how good the symbian os has become.. no one is forcing you to use it.. n8 is more than a year old not new..

Ray Hipkiss, 31 Aug 2011@snow_speeder and Anonymous. First off, I haven't said anything hateful about the N8. I ju... moreno it wasn't real golf, got the new update Symbian anna 24.001.. its not belle. not seen many changes but the it must have updated the core structures of the os.. more fast and improved :D, belle is good if they have copied or not the os is good. the structure of symbian anna is different from, changing the os look has noting to do with copying, its all about the user experience which counts.. n belle will surly be as good as any other Os now!
new n8 user, 02 Sep 2011hi Ray,
i just want to know, how do i calibrate the battery? by the way, i totally respect y... moreTo calibrate the battery you need to let the battery drain completely and charge it with the phone switched off. Only do this once every couple of months though as Li-ion batteries have a nasty habit of dying if they run out of charge completely.
There is an inbuilt safety feature to prevent this from happening so it's safe to do now and again.

Directly copying Android OS is a lazy and cheap way of trying to please Symbian us... moreWhat happened to ray? Why he suddenly changed mind towards nokia? I thought he was a fan of nokia.
People are running after simplicity in usability of their phones.I agree that nokia did no significant work in that area.meanwhile the other companies started to encash the laziness of people by providing eye candy ui s with wow affects at the cost of less secured heavy os s which requires more ram and faster cpu s. those are obviously high priced.
The only problem in nokia phones is the lag and browser.hope the new phones with 1gh processors will solve the problem.for me, the price, camera, gps, built quality and service of nokia still keep it on top.
Almost 3 weeks now since Anna was released and still not available in the USA...
After a long hunting of smartphone i decided buying N8. can i proceed?
i just want to know, how do i calibrate the battery? by the way, i totally respect your ideas and opinions. keep it up and best wishes to everyone!

those who are using Symbian at least try android. thousand,thousand,thousands......apps in android majority of them free, very user friendly and most important u will be in a new world that releases update with new features with new ideas lightning fast. leave boring, uninteresting nt changing world of Nokia with its symbian
I had purchase the nokia n8 mobile for 3 months back. A new update had came SYMBIAN ANNA. I heard that the update of the symbian anna is not much better compared to symbian 3. It creates more problems after updating.. can any one suggest me to update my mobile to anna or not.

Directly copying Android OS is a lazy and cheap way of trying to please Symbian users.
I personally find the Belle GUI to be boring and uninspiring.
I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S as well as an N8 and literally hate the TouchWiz user interface, so you can imagine my disgust when I saw that Symbian will end up looking the same as the Galaxy S. I also detest that stupid HTC'esque Fisher Price home screen clock. It's a real shame what Nokia have done to Symbian. They have effectively destroyed an OS that has been around in one form or another since the '90s, when it should have evolved into the best phone OS on the planet.
All the best.

The N9 is a perfect example of Nokia's lack of business acumen.
They give the world a device that people actually want, then only supply it to a limited number of countries and announce that it will be the only MeeGo device they are producing.
Meego is a perfect contender for the likes of Android and iOS but instead, Nokia have decided to adopt crappy M$ Windows Phone OS.
Just another Nokia fail.

Symbian Belle is now based on Qt framework which is million times better, faster and more beautiful than the AVKON-based Symbian Anna and all older versions of Symbian S60. Belle is the best thing that ever happens to the Symbian platform. It really lives up to its name, Belle of the Beauty and the Beast.

It means that the N8 is getting old and boring. Nothing anyone can do about that now. It tried it's best but failed. Nokia, as a brand are failing also.
It's now time to move on elsewhere because Nokia just don't have a clue anymore in the smart phone business.
