Thanx mahn! I also thght of d same thing. Newayz i hv submittd ma n8 to ncc n thy hv said tht thy r sending it to r country's nokia HQ to examine the problem and they will return it to me after 10days.so please pray that i dont get back a phone which will have the same purple tint prob in it.

am in ghana and have recivd ma anna update. After d update everytin workz super, but d purpl tint is d only tin dat has gotin much worse. I love my n8 but i miss d screen of my htc hd7. Nokia pls do smtin abt d screen.

Yes, N8 is upgradable to Belle. There are some users who have already done the upgrade with the leaked version of belle from internet.
As per Nokia, Belle would be available for Symbian 3 models in Q4.

That's fair enough. What I would do though is visit My local NCP just to enquire whether they had any good working replacement screens and have them contact me when good screens become available. In the meantime you can get an app called light control which disables the automatic brightness and set it to a high level, and that will hide the purple tint. Thanks for the link.. I have anyways decided not to take it to NNC, because its just a luck, and if I am unlucky then I might get the same issue back with new screen + few more perforamnces issue. So its better not to take a chance & just keep using it..
Hoepfully nokia announces to replace itself..
