Did anyone here buy N8 recently in this month of July, if so please confirm if it is preinstalled with Symbian Anna. I am waiting for the new July lot to arrive, as per the Official Nokia announcement all new shipments from July of N8 will have Anna pre installed.

Most probably a hardware issue. Best bet is to take it to a Nokia Care Point and get it repaired under warranty.

nokia n8 is just a great phone. It has a very good hardware and with anna and belle on their way, I think the software experience will become great. ios and andriod are just inefficient.

I agree with what Anonymous has just written.Guys,if the smart phones of today's world don't heat up then there is something wrong with them!!..They are mini computers in your pocket and would generate heat when used.If your set goes into over heating, then it could be a problem but don't make a fuss about non existent issues please.Yes, my N8 worked fine for 7 months before it went into loads of troubles like restarting,overheating and eventually went completely dead.I went to Nokia Care and then have replaced my N8 with a brand new set.Which company does that and that too in 10 days flat?...In India atleast i don't expect Nokia to be slow in responding as they have to cater to a fast growing cellular market and they can ill afford to generate bad press or publicity for their premium product like the N8...

Some people come on gams forums and say help i have adefective N* or my fone does not work..
Now take the mickey out of me but a normal person would take it to the shop where you bought it from to be repaired...Is that just common sense or am i not well...If i bought a microwave or fridge and it broke or ceased working or was not working as desired i would return it to point of purchase for repair or refund if under 14 days old.Often ,,in fact always here in UK if its a month old they do a straight swap for a new one.
I am perplexed at folks opinions,absolutly baffled ..

Dont know what you people are doing with your N8 but i dont know anyone with some of the problems your having.And to folk continually going on about your fone heating up,,DONT buy a smartfone ever until you get some basic help in basic physics..For crying out loud hold the fone to your face without using it for 15 minutes and it will heat up..
The sgs2 has my laptop power in its frame yet my laptop has a great big heatsink and fan on it..it gets hot !!
These smartfones have proccessors and proccesses going on in skinny frames,if they dont heat up then tell proffessors because you have just gone against the basic laws of physics and it needs reporting.

I also have the same thought as yours... I love symbian although it's bit buggy... moreHello Nuwan.
Yes, I have seen the N9 and agree it would be a perfect replacement for my N8 however, Nokia have decided not to release it in my country, the U.K. sadly. Also, they have stated that it will be the only MeeGo device to be produced and that there will not be any after market support such as firmware updates.
Nokia's main interest will be to focus on Windows Phone OS.
On the off chance that Nokia produces a Windows Phone that is as flexible, versatile and sophisticated as Symbian then I may consider getting one, but I'm not holding out much hope of that happening.

for all you guys having an n8 that is hangin, rebooting etc. take it to a NOkia car point and tell them they will flash it and havea much faster N8.
you can also update it to pr 1.2 or anna in a couple of weeks when it will be released.

this phone is awesome... just waiting for its firmware Symbian Anna and yea its Symbian belle update for my N8...
