As for the clock, since it's an AMOLED display, when you have the screen turned off, you will see either a digital or "analog" clock on the screen.
There is the basic "clock widget" that you can see in the upper left screen of this page in the N8 as the first widget. It has a clock (again digital or analog), the date and the profile you are using.
I have a myself a weather widget seperately and it works nicely :)
East or west N8 is best....it's video quality omg no words to define and its dolby digital sound like watching movie in theater.gaming grapics are also fantastic, fabulous.and i more thing which is can say its heart that is 12 MP camera suparb quality!!!!i personally recommend you guys try it atleast once :)

So can you delete and turn off the social network app/widget from the homescreen and replace it for another widget?
Are there big clock (maybe with weather) widgets for Nokia N8?
I'm done with android and want to switch to saymbian (stable system, free navigation, good standby time)....
Thanks.
N8 is so attractive but i not able to buy. nokia should reduce the amt.

Better thing is to install brightness control and disable the light sensor.
I bought this phone 5 months ago for 500.00 dollars, THe battery LIFE SUCKS and the the response is terrible, the apps are pathetic and in comparision to IPhone this is the pits, wasted 500.00 dollars, thoght Nokia would come with a decent phone as such. with such a lot involved , Iphone probably would be the best seller is they ued all the world frequencies involve and not just limit it to individual markets.I used a iphone as such and also a BB9780, i have better result with my BB and Iphone4 anytime, I would never buy this product N8 Again ,

The Nokia N8 lack the power of Zoom despite having a giant 12MP sensor. It has a zoom of only 3X while it should have at least 20X like N86. In order to bring an enhancement to zooming power I have created an Idea project and submitted to Nokia. You can support my idea visiting the link mentioned above. Please Give a look to my precious work.

Dear Wheez,
I can understand your reluctance against 'hacking' thing because it's allowin... moreI don't use Facebook (except I have this dummy account I use for certain things, such as reserving my name over here), but thanks for the offer :D
As I mentioned, I'm pretty lazy with apps. I can almost count the apps I have with one hand fingers (ok well, two hands), cos I just have no use for apps, really. I bought the N8 for its hardware features and I'm not regretting it at all. But first and foremost, I wanted a phone, not a handheld gaming console with sub-par cellphone in it (much like iPhone).
And yeah, I started university last fall and it's been real handy having N8 there. I save a lot of money by just photographing the school books with the N8 instead of buying them (in case I can't get them from the local library). I still work occasionally (currently full time during summer) at the Nokia Factory in Salo, Finland as a security guard.
I wish I was a Nokia agent that got paid, though. I used way, way too much time over here around the release of the N8. Would've made a nice salary right there :D If you remember, I simply had to tell one day that I will now stop visiting this website completely and I removed it from all my bookmarks etc, cos it was taking way too much of my time. I don't really regret it either, I know I helped many people in findng out what the N8 can and can't do. I bet Nokia sold many phones solely thanks to me :D
The latest releases from Nokia (N9, Windows Phones) have gotten me to visit this site again, but as I wont be buying either one for another year (and probably WP after that), I think I'm pretty safe from wasting much time here this time :D Naturally as I work at Nokia I get to see and try some of these new toys at times, so I might be sharing some information, but I don't think there will be a time or place for this anytime soon, cos it's still confidential for the most parts.

Dear Wheez,
I can understand your reluctance against 'hacking' thing because it's allowing us to do some illegal things using the mobile.. But for me, I look at it positively though.. Forget about fast typing and recording phone calls.. How about installing any software you like without having 'certificate error' bla bla...?
Well... I made my mind to buy this mobile after reading your comments earlier... Those were so positive indeed... And I was already a Nokia-Symbian lover.. So without any hesitation I went for the phone once it's out and when my budget was OK.. Now I'm using it for few months and still a very happy user..
Wonderful camera, so many features, the features I got after hacking all of them have made me so happy using this beauty...!
If I say I've installed more than 200 applications in my Nokia N8 would you believe that...? But yes... Still it works like a charm and I absolutely love Symbian for the exact reason that it's so damn flexible... After hacking it doesn't know the meaning of the word 'restrict'
I myself love the ideas of 'sharing' and 'freedom'... If you don't mind joining me at facebook, please search for me 'ppnuwan(at)yahoo(dot)com'
Thanks my friend...
(By the way, at those times, when you dedicate your valuable time to answer the questions regarding N8 for GSMarena askers, I was wondering whether this is a nokia company agent... Ha ha... You're obviously not... But you live in Finland if I remember correct.. and you're a college student who lives near a Nokia factory.. I remember that information from your posts... You did a really nice job back then you know... You almost convinced me to buy this mobile and I bought and have No regrets.... Thanks for that brother...)
Again, please add me as your friend in facebook... See you later...

AnonD-2912, 26 Jun 2011Dear Wheez,
I've been reading your posts from the beginning... I know you're not fully sati... moreActually I havn't. I'm pretty shy when it comes to stuff like this (I'm too afraid to even download and install a pirated Win 7, so I just bought it instead lol), and I believe that might even void warranty on the N8?
And I still won't do it :D Maybe the SMS's keeping up a bit better sounds ok, but I don't type fast enough to usually for it to make a difference anyways. My camera is totally silent as it is and I never record phonecalls anyways :D
Good to see someone still remembers me around here! :D
Indeed waiting on Symbian Anna, although I don't really have high hopes for it, but at least the new browser is welcome. Using several tabs on the current one is a bit complicated at times :D
I still love my N8. I just realized that I got everything I need in it. I keep on rediscovering its many features. I'm so satisfied. Can't wait for the update to Symbian Anna.
