Evelyn , 21 May 2011I buyed new nokia n8, and it is have purple tint issue. Now how can i solve the situvation?
P... moreSorry but there's still no solution to this purple screen problem. Nokia acknowleded it but they don't want to make the public know about it. Someone on the main Nokia support forums talked about making this defect known on Facebook and his post got deleted. Nokia is doing some damage control and that's how they do it, by deleting people's posts.
The best you can do for now is to get Brightness Control and set the brightness high to make the defect less noticeable. I know it's not a real solution but there's not much we can do until Nokia supplies its NCCs with defect free screens. You can keep sending your phone to the NCCs but they still don't have the defect free screens on hand and this purple screen fiasco has been known since January. It's been 5 months now and Nokia still don't have a solution. Shame on Nokia.
Really nice phone, nice features, most of all 12 MP camera with full auto focus and dual LED flash.
Totally rad phone good smart phone to replace an iphone.
I like the nokia n8, but I would like to know the price and get the shipping as Costa Rica, thanks

Many Faults in this handset and you can't find any perfect one, I don't recommend buying it even though it IS the best mobile cam available.
Faults that My phone suffers (Google for more info):
-Purple Tint (that's a huge letdown).
-HDMI Cover Crack, yep it cracked itself never touched it.
other known faults:
-Proximity sensor issue.
-Motherboard overheating, restarting.
how to logout any email account set with MAIL feature on nokia N8.

freak77, 21 May 2011Hey comparing this with the LG P500, specifically for the GPS: P500 can do GPS without the cel... more@Freak77.
Just to clarify, the N8 can do GPS without connecting to a network and just rely on satellites. However, it does take a long time for the N8 to get a fix on the satellites so utilizing Assisted GPS ( connecting to network ) gives you a faster fix.
The other great thing about Ovi maps is the ability to download full maps to the phone to be used in Offline mode before you set off on your journey.
All the best.
Dj, 20 May 2011What exactly does ROM do ? @Dj.
ROM stands for Read Only Memory, which stores the Symbian Operating System and other System files.
It can't be used by the user for storing any other data, unless of course you're into hacking and want to flash it with a custom firmware using Phoenix.
Two major Changes on symbian that are very bad.
1. You cant access some folders, no matter the file application u will use. With my late s60v2, i can access every folder using simple file app.
2. You have to sign apps before u install. You have to apply for your own certificate. Due to this whenever u format your phone, most apps on memory card cant be reinstalled. With my s60v2, i can install every app. U dont have to sign it.
You can by pass this changes if u hack your phone, but most nokia latest phones are not hackable.
Why did they make these changes? It is beneficial?
