I'm N8 user for past 7 months, got my phone in Nov 2010. It is excellent phone. I was very much happy with Symbian 3.0, it was comfortable to use. My primary objective was camera, watching videos, music, browsing from phone as well as use the phone as modem.
Everything was quite good, until I tried to install Garmin XT Mobile in Nokia N8, just to see what happens. I installed it in E: drive (the 14GB one), from then on, my mobile become dead. I tried 3 button hard reset, still the phone couldn't start. it just start and hangs in "Nokia" screen (white screen with Nokia Logo).
Any idea anybody how to bring back my N8 from being dead, plz!!!

For me, my n8 satisfies me for wHAt i need on a daily basis, the only defect on my n8 is just the clock screensaver that is having a slight purple tint when the light is off, totally disappears even in low light. I also tested it w/ the screentest images, and no purple showing, just d clock, just enjoy what u have, there's no point in arguing here, besides u r here in the n8 user forums, just for n8 users and not for n8 bashers.

AnonD-1393, 05 May 2011As far as I know symbian^3 phones can play MKV files bigger than 2GB. The problem is something... morenope....i use c7. I hv tested all format in my phone.
When i play mkv file....only audio is able to play, not video. And only mp4, 3gp file is shown on menu gallery. You have to go to file manager to play other format.
AnonD-40, 06 May 2011You said it's almost defect-free. You mean to say that it still have the defect only to a less... moreMost users in general don't care about purple screen. Even majority of users who complain and whine about that infamous purple screen still choose to keep their N8. It would be nice if one got a perfect screen but a purple screen doesn't hamper one from still enjoying his phone and letting it do what it is intended to do. N8 is just too good a device to just let it go. You can count the purple screen as one of N8's cons. Just like every other device, there are always pros and cons. What's important is that the pros far outnumber and outweigh the cons. And besides, Nokia have already acknowledged the defect, though I feel they should have publicized it more. And in fairness, their Nokia Care centers have been very helpful to attending to and did all they could to solve this problem. It's just that this problem can't be sorted out. I guess it's not Nokia's fault anymore but the AMOLED display manufacturer's.
