It shows the defect on the N8 and compares the screen to a defect free AMOLED screen of the Samsung Omnia. The defect is not exclusive to the N8's analog clock. It shows on pretty much everything that have a dark gradient.

I understand your point, but try to understand mine too..
I say that if you install this app, you disable the light sensor.
So, then you increase the brightness up to 75 or 80 %.
It clears out most of the purple tint and it also will not affect the screen's life span, because it is just 75% and it is far from the maximum level.
Therefore, this is a great way to hide your purple tint without risking your screen's health...
Therefore, until Nokia come up with a proper and easy solution, this is just a good way to enjoy your N8's screen without seeing the majority of the tint...
Thank You...

listen, i understand your point, but try to understand mine too..
I state that if you install this app you will disable the sensor and adjust the brightness at only 75 or 80 %.
This is not even close to maximum and there is absolugely no way that 75% brightness will affect yhe screen's life span...
This is absolutely risk free. Just people have to make sure not to increase the brightness over 80%.
Thank you..
Ray Hipkiss, 09 May 2011 So why isn't my phone showing any purple on the clock then?
Also, how do you explain the oth... morethen maybe it's a defect then, but not in my N8 because the purple tint only appears inside the the upper portion of the clock when i press the menu button to unlock the screen from screensaver mode and after that it's gone, not even a hint of purple tint anywhere in my display. If i change the analogue clock to digital clock, no purple tint appears when i press the menu button from screensaver mode.
If purple tint still exist in the display aside from pressing the menu button, then i agree with you ray, it's a defect.
Just bought the blue one. Love it,except it hangs n restarts, many times. Don't know why,but mybe because of improperly inserted or my old, scratchy damage faulty sim card. Last night i cleaned the sim card, put it in firmly. Until this morning,ok. Waiting if it hangs or restart again. Let's see what happen, have read many problems of N8. My firmware's up to date but with 013.016 PR1.1
I have had my Nokia N8 for about 4months now and it works perfectly! It's very quick off the mark, does everything I want it to do & more + the camera quality is astounding! both Still Images & Video.
The downside for me 'personally' would be the functionality of the OS - however I find the design quite comfortable. Some of the apps from the Ovi app store could do with a few improvements compared to what the iPhone offers.
Overall this phone is exactly what I was expecting. A definite purchase for those who are enthusiastic about snapping & filming on the go!!

Hello everyone
I just got my Green N8. It looks quite good i must say, and playing around with it was fun.
The camera is fantastic !!!
The joy lasted for around 10 minutes only.
I was trying the connectivity , when it automatically connected to the GSM network.
Few seconds it died ... .and thats all !!!
No matter what reset and how many fingers I use, It just doesn't start.
I will have to return it tomorrow, but I don't know if I should try another one !!!

Anonymous, 10 May 2011Anyone knows why we cant use flash for HD recording You cannot use the Xenon flash for video recording, because it is a Xenon flash. It is designed for a brief and very bright flash of light only. If it were to be activated continually it would blow within a very short space of time due to the amount of heat it would generate.
In my opinion, I think Nokia would have been better off putting dual LED's on the camera instead of a Xenon flash, which is a bit of overkill for a mobile phone. The benefits of having LED's are the ability to record video with light, and to use the phone as a torch.
