Sir,I bought a Nokia n8 black colour (imei : 352684041301651) from Nokia care centre at the end of October 2010.I have noticed the purple tint issue which is discussed and present world wide and also acknowledge by Nokia itself on march 1st week.I gave the phone to Mobi quest Nokia care centre (ph.no 40034272,9848298600) for repair on march 16th and my 1st job sheet number was 302465550/110316/7.initially they have tried to convince me that it's a 'design' and all n8 phones have it but me being an electronics and communication engineer stood by the fact that it's an issue with the device. They took the device to send it to Delhi for repair or replacement and I got back my n8 on march 23rd.The purple issue was still present and moreover the phone was scratched. The mobiquest Nokia care changed another LCD then and there but the purple tint issue still persisted and also the rear panel of the phone was now filled with scratches permanent damage.I rejected the phone and asked for a replacement. They again tried to convince me that it was a design parallely acknowledging that its the companys fault as well as the device's.I even showed my friends new n8 where the phone was perfect with no issues. I was then given a new job sheet number (110316/7) .I was told later that the company is replacing my n8.On 31st of march I went to care centre again to receive a White n8 but it was full of scratches on the screen and the rear panel shows clear indications that it has been opened.I rejected the replacement phone requesting a new black one.Till date I have not received the phone.
Is this how a loyal Nokia customer since 2004 gets treated? Why should I suffer at a loss for the company's fault? Mine is a scratchless 4 month old new phone and I expect a new phone as a replacement.I am getting emotionally disturbed by this incident and not able to use the phone since many weeks.I request the proper authorities to take concerned actions and serve justice.Thank you
and i got a brand new 45mins used black n8 with all the plastic coverings at the back and screen guard on the screen and extended warranty upto feb 2012...but the thing still has that tint issue...anyways its better to have the phone and sell it later than to have nothing or a damaged phone ..

Did you guys here about the N8 successor? Its going to have a 4" 960x540 qHD AMOLED display CBD tech, a 1ghz processor(probably dual-core)the same 12mp camera, but with True Zoom(acdvanced AF), 1GB ram, and stereo speakers...Cant wait!
But whats more exciting, is that it will arrive with the revamped Symbian 3, with Android App support! (Android supports Qt)

gurbir, 07 Apr 2011hello
i have got this n8 on march 29
this is a good phone
bt i have one question
how th... moreMany people are asking this question. and let me clarify this once and for all.
this phone uese xenon flash and xenon is a professional photographic flash whereas the flash that turns on when taking videos is called as LED flash.
LED flash can be kept on for a long time and it wont consume much power oh and it is a good flash for videography. but the worst flash for photography since it stays longer for taking pictures.
xenon flash consumes a considerable amount of power but it comes only for fraction of a second. that is suitable for photos.
you must have seen that during some light conditions when its bright, LED flash goes on and the picture comes dark. really dark i mean. thats the reason why its fit only for videography. xenon flash gives the correct brightness and sharpness rather like LED that will turn the whole picture dark when taking photos.
LED stays longer and xenon stays shorter thats suitable for photos and it wont keep itself on like LED.
maybe nokia must have provided LED flash as well just in case like in SE Satio right?
i have got this n8 on march 29
this is a good phone
bt i have one question
how the flash is on during capturing the video as i try alot bt dont get it when i make the video in the night that video is recorded without flash
can anybody tell me what should i do
thanks in advance
[deleted post]No. What's more tiring is the lack of Nokia's action with regards to the issue. They will tell you to take your N8 with the purple screen defect to Nokia Care only to get your unit replaced with another defective unit. That indicates that the issue is widespread and not a few defective units as you suggest.
You're the one getting tired here for seeing your favorite brand exposed for its defective devices. I like Nokia but they messed up. We can blame Samsuck for the defective screens but Nokia should do more. Afterall, the N8 is a Nokia phone and not Samsung's.
Surya007, 06 Apr 2011pr2.0 is a software update(new symbian look and browser)it does not correct the hardware issue.I'm still convinced that the majority of N8 owners are still unaware of this widespread purple screen defect. Nokia should do more addressing this issue but they seem to be too busy trying to release 40 phones this year. There's still no solid answer from Nokia.
Linux_Maemo_N900, 06 Apr 2011Afternoon to all! First off: Symbian_3 is supposedly undergoing a GUI overhaul very soon... moreawesome review. I've always been in love with maemo. Nokia really doesnt need meego they only need to support maemo and given that maemo can play webOS games and apps they could have just partnered with HP or just buy rights from them. Symbian 3 has a lot under the same roof as opposed to maemo and honestly it only needs a UI refresh and absolutely nothing else coz its complete, it has HD games and apps were ever increasin before nokia abandoned it. Maemo and symbian together would have been unbeatable
