Linux_Maemo_N900, 06 Apr 2011Afternoon to all! First off: Symbian_3 is supposedly undergoing a GUI overhaul very soon... moreawesome review. I've always been in love with maemo. Nokia really doesnt need meego they only need to support maemo and given that maemo can play webOS games and apps they could have just partnered with HP or just buy rights from them. Symbian 3 has a lot under the same roof as opposed to maemo and honestly it only needs a UI refresh and absolutely nothing else coz its complete, it has HD games and apps were ever increasin before nokia abandoned it. Maemo and symbian together would have been unbeatable

When I bought my N8 a month ago the first problem I faced was when it shut down and never rebooted, I sent it to the Nokia Care here in the Middle East. It was fixed the only problem was that it seems that the unit speed is not good (there are occassional lag) in application switching. Was trying to find some tweaks to somehow increase the speed then I found out about SPB SHELL, I installed it and the unit seems to run fluidly just like the other phone. I have no problem of issues or whatsoever with lags during application switching and the good thing is that, the SPB shell does not eat up a lot of battery, I still can manage to use the N8 for a day and 1 half with heavy use of wi-fi, listening ot music and calling. Why don't you try it... it might solve some of your lag issues.

sweet guys, 05 Apr 2011The Actual Camera Pixel only 9,But in the specification 12Mp ....The default is 9mp, but you can easily manually change it to 12mp. Use pinch to zoom out to change it from 12 to 9 quickly.

rdca, 06 Apr 2011PR 2.0 will coming this mid-april, Just pray to fix the reddish tint, purple tint issue.... pr2.0 is a software update(new symbian look and browser)it does not correct the hardware issue.

Guys PR 2 cmg mid april....Nokia launching new 12 smartfones dis year...and 40 new fones in the year...iam just too happy with my N8...perfect device ...lets wait and see wat N8-01 offers...

First off:
Symbian_3 is supposedly undergoing a GUI overhaul very soon. But this will be a merger to Symbian_4 as far as I know.
Now Symbian 3 has beter support for social networking, a more rounded bolt on packages. The GUI just restricts it's power. maemo lacks some integrated feature functionality which is standard on symbian but they can be downloaded & enhanced jsut as much as symbian.
Linux maemo has hildon GUI. Whereby you can add shortcuts & widget & with the correct free app you can adjust the size, set opacity of all desktop objects.
Symbian_3 will have better built in support over maemo for HD recording, playback HD profiles formats. I not sure of the resolution limit. Maemo 5 has a limit of 800x480 at current I think someone correct me if I am wrong?
Maemo doesn't include all the features built-in for SMS or MMS. But it can do them with a small app plugin which does it nice & simply.
maemo has a pretty good music player only limited by the no equalizer present. no fm radio or transmitter but once these apps are downloaded they work very well.
I bought linux maemo for one reason over symbian. Excellent Graphical user interface hildon desktop, excellent task switcher, excellent multitasking, excellent virtual memory swap file, efficient use of memory, plenty of application installable memory about just under 2GB. N900 has 28GB MMC internal HDD SD memory which is optional memory.
In linux I can cusomtize anything, have custom ringtones, have enhanced contact search features but most of all. The web browser was finished & still has features which Symbian_3 took a while to get.
Aswell as flash support. The maemo I have filled all 4 desktop screens with widgets & my phone still runs with rootfs: 80/276MB free I have 94 packages apps installed.
Flash runs very well the Internet web browser has copy, paste, open new window, save as bookmark, enable portrait mode, advanced Internet options for werty keyb, go back a page key & a briliant google search integrated feature.
Also maemo is the first OS in which I have delight in using the T9 predictive text input. I only can't wait to see how Meego turns out, to have all the features of maemo but with more power than even maemo 5 needs, & HD recording, playback etc...
Maemo can play lots of audio video formats although not fully suited out to carry all the HD gloryness of new phones. MP4 movies looks very good on the N900 screen though although not AMOLED.
Bluetooh is excellent with the pannuchi app I think you can send anything over the BT2.1 in the N900. acceleromter can also be modified with better tilt actions for games. Apps for everything & all free. I've even got solitaire & angry birds on this. anyone fancy palm OS bejuled?

Guys .. based on my exp..
N8 truly is a great phone,
the only issue i had was purple screen issue,
now i waiting for my phone service collection,(Warranty claim)
it been 1 week due to no stock for AMOLED screen replacement,
2moro im going 2 collect my phone,
let see whether the issue has been solved or not...
ADVICE - Don't upgrade the phone Software, B4 buying the phone test it fully...

Hi all
My N8 is always trying to connect to WLAN and Packet data connection..I made settings in WLAN to never show WLAN availability.Even then it is trying to connect continuously...Can i change the setting to connect whenever i want it only...Please reply na.......
