I don't wanna be hated here, but has anyone tried to installed android in the N8, do you think 256 is enough RAM memory to install Gingerbread 2.3?
why, 31 Mar 2011by the way i'm a c7 user..
so in my case ever since i bought my c7..it's in default display b... moreI think it's an issue with the screen's driver but the only solution is to take the affected unit to Nokia Care and have the screen replaced. Nokia is telling people to take the defective units to Nokia Care and that indicates that the problem is a hardware issue that cannot be patched through a software update. Your case seems unique as you're the first one I know to get the defect from the recent upgrade. Try to take your unit to Nokia Care but don't get your hopes up as Nokia is replacing defective units with defective units due to the shortage of the perfect screens.
hi, to all mobile tech lovers all over the world. i m using NOKIA N8 and SAMSUNG GALAXY S FOR past few months. i would like to tell u some facts comparable between this two please take note of it as it may help you u purchase in mobile u want.
1. N8 has best camera in mobile industry, please don't even compare it with any mobile at present. all the comparisons are done in the day time only. any pic looks good on amolde screen but compare it on computer.
2. trust me guys, N8 has better sound output than I-touch.
3. ovi maps are outstanding way to navigate and reliably on N8.
4. EASE TO USE AND SCREEN QUALITY, BUILT MUCH BETTER THAN ANY OTHER DEVICE.
5. SAMSUNG SCREEN LOOKS GOOD.
6. BATTRY LIFE OF N8 HAS GOOD LIFE.
4. samsung has better screen and browser.
Anonymous, 31 Mar 2011Could it be that you are on maximum brightness the first time you took the purple screen test?... moreby the way i'm a c7 user..
so in my case ever since i bought my c7..it's in default display brightness which is 50%
and ever since then i have these black and white pics of celebrities..before when i'm viewing it it's normal..it's perfect i'd say cos the transition of black to gray to white in pics i good..i also checked the analog screen before and i'm pretty sure it was just normal.i updated my sw to pr 1.2 i guess last tuesday or monday i can't remember via software updater.but yesterday when i'm viewing grenade music vid by bruno mars i noticed brown patches in dark areas..in one scene i can't almost see his face because of the patches..so i downloaded the test images and it didn't show me purple tint but brown tint is visible..i was so scared and i have lots of photos so i revisited the black and white ones to shocked that it has now brownish red tint in it..i'm so sad..
now my question is does anybody know if this is software or hardware problem...?
I bought a nokia N8 and she mst be the most unluckiest user. We bought it in mid Feb 2011 and the first one lasted 4 hours befor the screen went funny with pixelation. The replacement phone has now also died 6 weeks later where the phone won't even turn on! Taking it back for repair.
nokia is not connecting but cheating...except camera, which is very good, each and everything on phone is poor.Web browser is worst, interface is sluggish, and typing is quite uncomfortable and only an average battery life.
well. i use N900 thats a great mini tab phone from nokia.stereo speaker works good but not too loud. The worst is no equalizer built in so when i play music trought stereo bluetooth is so flat and not so stereo output. N8 is single loudspeaker ,its average but loud enough, the earphone from N8 is same like from N900 ( means average earphone) but when i play music from N8 trough my stereo bluetooth,Wow...its so great,so stereo, clear, surround, never feel this on other phone or SE W series or 5800. so if u want great output music from N8 use better earphone from other brand like senheiser, sony, jbl, etc. i use stereo blutooth from motorola. works Greats.
A fantastic phone at a great price and some of you are worried about a little purple come on people please come back to earth
Ajay, 31 Mar 2011OMG!!
replacing defective units with defective units?? i'd better not buy it in that case.. b... moreThe link I gave you shows what a defective N8 looks like. The silver N8 has a reddish tint on the top half of the analog clock and that's the sign of the defect.
Nokia acknowledged the defect and it is real. The fanboys are still denying it and accusing the defect as fake in a desperate attempt to cover up the defect. The link I gave you is 82 pages long. You can read stories of people who have the defect and how unhappy they are. Nokia is currently short of the perfect screens to replace the defective ones and the majority of N8 users out there are not even aware of the defect.
The new link below is directly from Nokia. Read about the defect so you won't pick a defective unit. N8s with perfect screens are out there. Just look at the analog clock and pick another unit if you see anything reddish or purple on the clock.
Keep in mind that the fanboys will deny anything about the defect even though Nokia admitted the defect. Ignore them. They would rather have the public unaware and have them fall victim.
We are still on the 2nd batch and Nokia is silent on when the third batch will be out. Read the links I gave you and it will give you a better understanding on what's going on with the N8's purple screen defect.
nitesh, 31 Mar 2011guys pls help me.
I am unable to record videos in the dark because the flash light does not f... morehi nitesh.. the phone you are using has xenon flash that is used only in cameras and not normal LED flash that is used in camcorders. so the flash wont turn on for video. the flash is simply not meant for taking videos.. its only for professional shots and not videos!!
and there is no hack or software so dont bother it.. unlike the normal phones that has LED flash and take suckier photos, yours can take pro photos.. so cheers ^_^ you made a right choice.. led makes photos suck. xenon rocks for photos. and xenon is NOT for video camera. hope this is clear to you.

replacing defective units with defective units?? i'd better not buy it in that case.. but their service is quite good here.. thats what i felt as far as i am concerned. anyways you guys tell me NOT to pick any piece from the first two batches.. and take only the third or fourth batch right?

and how do i detect the tint?? that website is not mentioning is clearly.. is there any other issues that i must keep in mind? (other than sucking battery life :P )
