Stupid me, 08 Jan 2014Oops! I did not see your post in time. I had put the camera on automatic. I’ll try “landscape... moreLandscape scene is totally something else then landscape position of the screen:). Automatic Scene is for simply take and shot. Sadly, not always is the best condition (scene) to use. I always use landscape for objectives further then 15 meters. "Landscape" does not use auto-focus, it uses so called fixed focus, or infinity focus. Meaning that everything in a frame will come out as sharp as your camera can go. This is a rule, and it's a rule applied for objectives that are far enough. Now that doesn't mean all cameras are good on that. There are allot of cameras that take crappy pics even in landscape mode. N8 has a good build for landscapes, takes allot of light in and i never had a problem holding it with my hands. Some cameras need tripods to take crisp landscape shots, even profi ones. Don't use automatic mode for objects further then 20 meters. Will come good, but could be more sharp if landscape mode is used. I use automatic only on objects that are 5m away for me. This i calculate with my eye, so 5m is not something strict, is something that i think:)). Close-up u already know what is for. Portrait is what is told. Is the better scene for crisp portraits. It can also be used in bright light, when the sun comes wright up front your camera sensor. The light will darken your photo for everything that is near but portrait uses the flash, so in this case, if you have somebody in front of you but there is to much light so you need to turn away from light, just use portrait, you will be able to see the one in front of you along with the other stuff. You can get great effects from this. "Sport" is just for moving objects, i used it rarely. But it is useful. Night portrait just lifts up the ISO for the night condition. That's about it with the scenes in N8. I would like to have more but...
hi gud eve i need some help guys.
how to delete all the installation logs?i think it consumes memory. pls reply tnx
RALPH, 08 Jan 2014hi good day to every one how can i transfer my memory from the phone memory to the mass storag... moreHi,
Logs don't use much memory.
If you want to uninstall an app, find it in menu, long press on the icon, Delete. Deleting them from home screen just removes a shortcut. Or you can go to Settings - Installations - Already installed - long press on the name and choose "Remove".
If you want to transfer apps from phone memory to mass storage you have to uninstall them and install them again to E:
You can find some more tips about cleaning memory here:
MdN8, 07 Jan 2014For mountains, use the "landscape" setting. :-D
Or "night" if it's dark.... moreOops! I did not see your post in time. I had put the camera on automatic. I’ll try “landscape” next time when it is sunny (hopefully tomorrow). Tell me, is setting the camera on landscape different from simply turning the camera horizontal? I mean, like what advantage will I gain setting the camera as opposed to just manually turning it horizontal? That is what I did. The camera interface looks the same to me but I can’t say for sure because I never paid attention to it. I just took shots by guess. I’ll go and read up the manual because I don’t know what those tiny symbols mean :-D. That sure indicates my level of interest :-D. Now, after seeing Carol’s close-ups, I want to try that.
Oh dear! You missed the multiplication of the parrot! I got up one morning and saw two. I think binary fission went on overnight and there was uneven distribution of the plasma. So, one ended up small and ten times as vicious as the original larger one :-))))). Seriously though, I did tell you about me taking out photos of my vicious Pionus as she tried to bathe in her little water bowl. She always does that when it rains. Those photos came out OK. I also told you about the other larger playful one (Yellow Shoulder Amazon) that almost hanged himself.
Well, I am relieved that the vibration is not some defect. I thought something went wrong with the upgrade. Funny how you and Carol hold opposite views of Camera Pro – just when I was thinking of buying it. Seems it is too advanced for me :-))).
hi good day to every one how can i transfer my memory from the phone memory to the mass storage and delete the logs on the installations? does the logs uses memory?and i uninstalled the applications using the home screen. i long press the application and press the X.. is t correct?pls reply i need help my phone memory is very low.. tnx
Carol, 07 Jan 2014Never is to late. I love to find new stuff, why wouldn't you? Have fun, photography world is q... moreGood news to report :-D! Seems my camera remained intact (or was replaced by one equally as good - don't know the mechanics of the upgrade). I took out a few photos and was quite happy with them even though the lighting was poor and the weather bleak, unlike yesterday. The colours were sharp and my hands were steady enough. Actually, "happy" is putting it mildly. I am positively elated and still grinning. We went up on a hill so I got some of the valley and the mountains. Even the slight mist on the mountain can be seen. I also made a video by accident and was happy about it afterwards because I was not even thinking about video at all. So I don't need to try that out anymore. The camera WORKS WELL. Thanks again for your support.
Carol, 08 Jan 2014Hey, thanks. I got better in time, those are old, but now is a very ugly weather here and does... moreYou have a good eye for scenes. :-) Also you are lucky to be able to travel. Man, I was everywhere and anywhere back when I had a VGA cameraphone, but now that my New Year's resolution is 12 megapixels nothing is happening. :-) But sometimes I have a chance to snap around. Weather sucks here too, but at least there are clouds and swans in the river hissing at me. :-) Wish I could find a frog like that, but my dog would start chasing it. :-) Good scenes, good timing and good light! Funny cat with white eyes... Man, if someone could make "white eye reduction" software I would give them money! I can reduce human red eyes with the phone, with FastStone, with Photoshop, but if I take a photo of an animal with flash the only solution is to draw the pupils in the eyes with Photoshop. Yeah right.
Those "reflections" remind me of my midnight walks by the river and trying to get the lights on the other side. :-) Looks OK if I don't blow it up to 100%.
I think CameraPro takes photos just differently, but in some situations I like the extra functions. Like if it's a light thing on dark background I set exposure to "center" so the subject is correctly lit, with default camera I would have to adjust the exposure and it's too much tapping around. And taking a photo by tapping anywhere on the screen (good for self portraits). Also I created a few presets like "Lumia" (with boosted colors and saturation to get silly images like modern phones) and Moon (to take photos of the moon, obviously). Still looking for a chance to try and make a HDR with it (though I don't really like HDR). But mostly I use the default camera, just set the scene to Night if it's dark or Sport if something's running.
Heh, "dark rubbish" is for kids and people on drugs, I think. I like serious bands with some philosophy and attitude, most commercial ones take it as if it was a horror movie, just for fun. Never mind that now.
Alright! I see people who are crying for "Anna quality" and installing mods to have it back, sometimes ruining their phones. Whatever. Some say that focusing is different now, but maybe they are just too nostalgic to remember it was always like that. :-) Just tonight I found some old camera catalogs and flyers. Just imagine how much money and knowledge you needed to take a photo with a film camera, and hope that most of them turn out good. My father used to have a Kodak Instamatic, and although my N8 is no Nikon, for saving a few memories it's way way better than what we had in the old days. :-)
MdN8, 07 Jan 2014Hey, very good stuff! I caught a hedgehog like that once, I guess they look similar everywhere... moreHey, thanks. I got better in time, those are old, but now is a very ugly weather here and does not inspire me to much:)). Don't get me wrong, i ain't no profi... yeah, the hedgehogs all look alike, i don't like that picture to much, i have an close-up with the same 'hog and that's crazy stuff. I will upload some more close-ups and some extreme to. maybe the people say those are not extreme but so to say... that frog? was so small you could not see it only if you struggled. And it was staying on a leaf the size of an half a palm. The frog wasn't bigger then my big finger nail:). So, i call it extreme:)). I don't like camerapro to much, thaks some of the picture quality, i don't know, something is missing and the colors are not that natural. i've tested it allot, but it disappointed me every time when compared with the original pics, so i decided i will never install it again (after more then 10 installs and uninstalls), egal how many updates we're coming:). As for the musci, yeah. Punk-metal head. But i like more the spiritual stuff, with more meaning and without praising the dark rubbish.
BTW, i had Anna before, after was fp1 then came fp2. After some months belle came out to, so i installed it without looking back,(though, at the beginning i missed some important stuff). i had that feeling to, that belle does not take the same quality pics as anna, but... minding the fact that i had anna installed i had pictures taken with it, also random crappy ones made while i had nothing better to do. So after that paranoia coming to my mind i decided to take one of the random shuts from anna and to try to copy it's position as much as i can. I could not see the difference between them, and i tried...allot:). the only difference was the light coming from the sun. The sun was a bit in a different angle with belle so the pic came out with less vivid colors, but not something to complain, it could be seen clearly that that was from the light coming from a different angle and not from the camera. I remember i tried some more pics, but never could tell the difference between the two. At least i didn't... Anyway, take a look at my new uploads if interested. I haven't done this for a while, maybe i find some good stuff to upload...

Stupid me, 07 Jan 2014Those photos are gorgeous!!!! Did you HAVE to tempt me so much??? Now, I am frantic to try out... moreFor mountains, use the "landscape" setting. :-D
Or "night" if it's dark.
Does the camera still have the same interface? I never had Anna, so just asking. Well, I'm sure more people would notice a camera downgrade than 3-4 people on forums. So just go on and enjoy yourself. Errr, parrots? I thought you had just one. :-)
As for vibration, I love it. Other phones feel like i'm tapping on something dead, especially iPhone feels squishy. That's just me, I guess. But it's awesome when I'm typing a message and the phone feels like a typewriter. :-)
No need to hurry, you can carry the N8 as it is for a while until it's all set up and ready to go.
Carol, 07 Jan 2014here you can find some shuts taken with my n8 and only with my n8. There are some macro's to. ... moreHey, very good stuff! I caught a hedgehog like that once, I guess they look similar everywhere. :-) But I have to work on finding more bugs. :-)
As for close-ups, I do it the same way, but if I have more time I use CameraPro in a similar way as it has both a "focus" and a "shoot" button. So I can do it all by touch without shaking my phone too much. Though, I just ordered a new case which apparently has a bit better camera button area so I'll see how it is when it arrives.
Interesting taste in music, btw. ;-)

Now, I am frantic to try out the camera. I think I'll start with the automatic shots first :D. I'll try with the mountains (hills to everybody else)when I go out walking this evening. Yeah! Let me see if I have to sob :-)). Thanks for the pointers. I only just restored my contacts this morning, so I'm really not moving too quickly on this...but at least I met my goal of upgrading before 2014, even though I just barely made it :-))).

Anonymous, 07 Jan 2014Would you believe that some E7 users actually do that (wait for batt empty) when their phone h... moreActually the E7 does not shut down like this. To force shutdown Nokia e7 and other s^3 like nokia x7, maybe s^4 to, smarts you will need to keep the power button along with the menu button pressed for more then 8 sec. Only, then you will have the forced shutdown. So, we are lucky with the n8, a button less to press:))
