I had brought a Nokia N8 mobile handset from on 11th December 2010 in Kolkata. On 20th January, 2011, when I put the phone on my table, the protective lens on the back side of the facia was detached. Since the said phone was defective,I contacted Nokia Care Centre and I was told that this defect is not covered under warranty. The facia of this model is also not available there either. I am surprised to note that within a span of 40 days, the above defect occurred. I am even more surprised at the response of the Customer Care Centre where I was told that I would have to buy a new facia as and when available. On my complaint to Nokia,Finland, the Customer Care people came back about two weeks back that as a special case they would rectify defective phone by changing the facia. The defect could not be rectified till date since the facia is not available. It seems that Nokia is selling its handsets without proper spares back up. Buying a new Nokia product, it seems, is stupidity.

Everyone, do you think Nokia N8 will become top again on daily interest in this site? Samsung Galaxy S II cannot keep its 95% daily interest, they are going down little by little. On the other hand, Nokia N8 is gaining fast. Yesterday, Nokia N8 has 69% daily interest, now, it has 76%!

.. I think that Nokia is in trouble now, especially after the alliance with Windows .. Which requires the highest standards of Symbian goes fully will be used to raise the prices of Nokia devices .. Nokia have strong market in Asia and Africa with Windows would lose a large part of users who did not accept that it will add Windows companies with experience and competitive in the market for Windows such as Samsung and HTC ... they must go to Android..

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2011Samsung galaxy S should give thanks to Nokia N8, because Nokia N8 didnt use 1ghz cpu & did... moreYour right about that. Nokia just want competition. Maybe they are losing sometimes, but Nokia is still the leader. Nokia didn't want to pile all customers, but Nokia wants to compete with other manufacturers and giving customers sets of choice. If Nokia uses Android, what will happen to their long-tradition OS? Nokia is innovating on its own way, and doesn't want to take the step what others took. Instead, Nokia giving us the decision to choose whether Android or iOS or WP7 or webOS or Symbian or Maemo. I think, if you do want simplicity in your touchscreen handset, then the best option there is the Nokia with its Symbian OS.

Symbian doesn't need to have a 1 GHz processor because a 680 MHz processor has a comparable speed to 1 GHz, then how would it be if it has a 1 GHz processor? Maybe if it has a 1 GHz processor, it would be comparable to dual core processors, what do you think?

nurtaj, 23 Feb 2011I want to buy a nokia n8 phones. but confuse samsung galaxy or nokia n8. which is betterIts a matter of choice in buying between Nokia N8 and Samsung Galaxy S. If it would be Samsung Galaxy S II, well, I will choose it over Nokia N8. However, if your not like others who had been brainwashed by iOS/Android/WP7/webOS, I'd rather choose Nokia N8 because of its simplicity and having excellent camera for all times.

For me, the touchscreen of Symbian is like its non-touch siblings, only doing all commands through touch, therefore, if you are like using non-touch Symbian phones before, using Symbian^1 or Symbian^3 won't have great difference at all. Unlike other OSes, it took different way of using touch in over-all UXP.

If Symbian uses 1ghz surely it will run, then N8 price becomes more expensive, 1ghz is unnecessary speed if it can run in just 680mhz. Nokia cares for its buyers, Nokia thinks also the products with an affordable prices. Unlike apple iphone 4 its all about money. Competition is not just hardware & software features, but affordable price as well. These how Nokia makes their consumers happy.

Samsung galaxy S should give thanks to Nokia N8, because Nokia N8 didnt use 1ghz cpu & didnt use Android, otherwise the cycle of business is finished, all money goes to Nokia, do you think Nokia cannot produce a 1ghz cpu or more? Do you think Nokia can not use Android? Nokia just want competition. Because of competition everything becomes better & better. Symbian as of now is of its fundamental age, the time will come Symbian will become as master or as strong or even stronger than Android. Its a challenge for Symbian! If Nokia uses Android, no more choices to choose from, just a competition of hardware features. But good thing Symbian tries to fight. Symbian is the only left competitor of Android. Wait Android till the next punch of Symbian.
