AnonD-1727, 16 Feb 2011why nokia n8 don't have games like i phone4 have iphone4 have got pes11 and fifa11 nokia n8 do... more Probably because the game developers don't want to write games for Symbian^3, especially now Nokia have abandoned the Symbian project and partnered with Micro$oft.

Wow,this is really a monster:-)Its really smart with its 12mp cam and with 680mhz processor it is really a multitasking and multimedia monster..u gotta see the games runnin on this and u ll be blown away.with all connectivity options and maps u r really safe anywhere anytime..everybody say symbian is outdated..im gonna ask them how the hell is it outdated?it is such a user friendly os unlike the android which is really hard enough to use..the only thing im sad is about the non availability of stupendous apps that can trigger the best of n8..battery life is good with 2days extreme use..since me a real hard core gamer i luv this device..but the thing is really overpriced, nokia gotta make it under 18,000..no issues other than this..luv n8

dear N8 users. Official change log of PR 1.1

A semi-official top-level changelog has emerged for the big PR 1.1 firmware update that was released this week for most C6-01, C7 and N8 variants. It's expanded and sanitised below, but it's worth noting that it's confirmed that, as I suspected in the original story, the likes of Ovi Store are now fully baked into the full firmware, so users complaining of problems getting up and running after an emergency hard reset should now be a thing of the past.

          Upgrades and additions:

Social 1.2 - photo and video upload improvements, though 1.3 is now available as a patch to this, as we reported on here
Ovi Store 2.0 preloaded - direct access, no launcher anymore
New Ovi Maps data (#25) - bringing new navigable countries, though note that this is still v3.4. If you want multi-touch and wi-fi country preloading, then head to Nokia Beta Labs for v1.6
Quickoffice 6.4.166, with free editing licence on the N8, and improved zooming functions, Adobe Reader updated to 2.5.653
Web updated to 7.2.8.10, minor fixes
Big update to Nokia Email; performance improved; more visible 'unread emails' flag added to homescreen widget; meeting requests can be accepted directly from email invitations; maps integration, which means people can view the meeting location on the map when the address is mentioned in the location field in the invite
          Multiple general performance improvements
Dialler now works in landscape mode
Landscape qwerty layout altered to promote '@' character in many language versions (some other character placements have been juggled)
You can now 'Change wallpaper' directly from the 'Options' on the homescreen(s), rather than having to go via 'Edit homescreen'
Enhanced music player screensaver (shows track name and bar in cycled colours)
          Fixes:

Charging indicator keeps going up when you disconnect charger under some circumstances
Battery indicator algorithm tweaked to be more linear (i.e. the old 'six bars and then it dies ten minutes later' syndrome is hopefully banished)
Problem with video streaming from web sites
Smoother video camera zooming (remember there's intelligent interpolation as well, so this isn't a gimmick)
          SMS message stuck in outbox
MMS messages fail to send and get stuck in outbox
Device does not restore all settings after retuning from power saving mode
Screen image sometimes corrupted when you scroll up/down in Quickoffice
          Minor N8 charging issues
          Music player and Photos issues
Set "save sent messages" as 'No', but actually they still get saved.
Breathing light now optimised to 'breathe' only when screensaver is set to none or the phone is in powersaver mode
          Animated screensaver option removed
Charging indicator erroneous when charging with power off
Web browser crashes when encoding is set to "Thai (TIS-620)"
Problem with National Geographic 'web TV'
Phone freezes when you insert the letter É inside a Social network
All Widgets disappear after updating Social network and you set "Thai" UI

It's actually become an old issue here in the forum.if you try to activate a light colored theme, say green, you'll notice a reddish shade in the upper right corner of the screen.but try opening an application like ovi store, you'll notice it's not there.a lot of people make such a big issue out of it that when in fact this issue is very minor if you try to see the fully loaded features of n8. Still love mine from the time i bought it till now.

From what I've learnt about the purple screen problem, it is caused by a faulty software driver which controls the screen.
So it can be fixed with a software update, probably when PR 2.0
is released in a month or two.
The same issue affected HTC Desire users, and was fixed with a software update.

                            All the best.

The N8 doesn't have a LCD screen, it has an AMOLED screen.
If you have noticed a flicker on the screen then maybe it has developed a fault.
Take it to a Nokia Care Point, and have an expert look at it.

                                  All the best.

You will not lose any data if you install this update.
However, make sure your phone is regularly backed up by using Ovi Suite, as there is always the tiniest risk involved when updating the phone ( such as a connection interrupt ).

I would imagine the difficulty your facing is due to server overload. That's why Ovi suite and OTA isn't working for you yet. Not sure why Nokia Software Updater isn't loading for you though. Maybe you could try un-installing it and then re-installing it.
If you have the time, keep checking via Ovi suite or Nokia Software Updater( if you can get it working ) periodically and you may get lucky.
Incidentally, the N8 will only let you use SW Updater on the phone once a day, that's why I recommended Nokia Software Updater via the P.C.. That lets you check as many times as you like.
Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

                                        Best of luck.
