Guys n galz i am planing to buy n8 should i go for it or not please help me out about its + & - issues
New apps you must have : Nokia internet radio and bubbles lock ui cool..!!!
My only complain about this phone is that it can be tricky to change language packs. The N8 purchased in Australia has only two languages pre-installed - namely, English and Filipino. Changing the language packs requires some savvy (downloading a few files from the internet, which I am reluctant to do), or a lot of luck - I have posted a similar issue on the Nokia discussion board, and did not get a very helpful response.
I am also a little protective of the camera lens. I know it is supposed to be very scratch resistant, but it would be nice to be able to purchase a protective case which can cover the lens as well (have not had luck in this area. After months of trying, I purchased a simple gel-case).
Otherwise, I am very happy with my N8 phone. Pre-installed maps with Assisted GPS (saved me buying a GPS unit for my car), nice media player, a nice camera/recorder, a big hard-drive plus optional 32G SD card, good voice recorder. Most importantly for a phone - very good phone reception, even on hands-free using the internal speakers.

AnonD-862, 06 Feb 2011Hi there,
Does anyone here know how to unlock the N8 without using unlock key or menu key??... moreyeah.. there is a app in ovi store.. here is the link.. but since i didnt use it.. i wont have any idea.. just check it.. maybe..
Bought my phone 09 Dec. 2010. Stopped working first week in Jan. 2011. i took it back to the store where i bought it, who told me that this was the sixth N8 with a similar problem. So much for Nokia reliability. . .
Me is a big fan of nokia once. Now its time for new update. Now I ask other nokia fan why I buy this shit in this day? Give me strong reason!
Test your AMOLED screen if it has a gradient problem. View this image on your N8. The background around QTorch should show a dark grey color. Otherwise, your unit has this problem.

AnonD-854, 05 Feb 2011SAMOLED also having purple effect problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=... moreSAMOLED has bigger problems than that, even the best ones on SGS has a tint of blue where it should be pure white, and also otherwise bad color reproduction compared to SLCD. The only way to rectify it is to set brightness to maximum but thats not possible to use, its too bright.
Sory AMOLED fans, there is no magic in AMOLED tech, the best LCD you can find on a cellfone nowadays is the HTC Desire Z. Color reproduction is stunning, but ofcors it dos not have the pure black and extreme contrast level of AMOLED. Its actually annoying to watch videos on SAMOLED because of the inaccurate skin colors of the actors. Noone looks like that in real, and it gets worse when its asian ppl in the movies.
For now one have to chose between reliable SLCDs with good colors, or play lotto with AMOLED and hope you get a good one that will stay good for more than a month or two.
AnonD-909, 06 Feb 2011also, does your screen brightness automatically changes with the intensity of the light? is it... more Just the opposite? Your former device must have been Faulty. The screen needs to get darker in a dark environment so as to conserve battery and not blind you. You wouldn't be able to see your surroundings if it remained bright. in a bright environment, the screen needs to be bright so as not to be a mirror. I'm at a loss of answers to why any one would want to deactivate this very important function. Its not like its new. Unless one has been living in a cave. My nokia 6630, made in 2003 had one. Is indispensable.
