Test your AMOLED screen if it has a gradient problem. View this image on your N8. The background around QTorch should show a dark grey color. Otherwise, your unit has this problem.

Anonymous, 06 Feb 2011 Just the opposite? Your former device must have been Faulty. The screen needs to get darker i... moreno man, I know what your reasons makes sense but all the devices I've used so far (nokia n&3, n73 ME, n85) all had just the opposite..
but anyways I went back to the shop and replaced my faulty one, m so happy now ^^

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=... moreSAMOLED has bigger problems than that, even the best ones on SGS has a tint of blue where it should be pure white, and also otherwise bad color reproduction compared to SLCD. The only way to rectify it is to set brightness to maximum but thats not possible to use, its too bright.
Sory AMOLED fans, there is no magic in AMOLED tech, the best LCD you can find on a cellfone nowadays is the HTC Desire Z. Color reproduction is stunning, but ofcors it dos not have the pure black and extreme contrast level of AMOLED. Its actually annoying to watch videos on SAMOLED because of the inaccurate skin colors of the actors. Noone looks like that in real, and it gets worse when its asian ppl in the movies.
For now one have to chose between reliable SLCDs with good colors, or play lotto with AMOLED and hope you get a good one that will stay good for more than a month or two.

The screen needs to get darker in a dark environment so as to conserve battery and not blind you. You wouldn't be able to see your surroundings if it remained bright. in a bright environment, the screen needs to be bright so as not to be a mirror. I'm at a loss of answers to why any one would want to deactivate this very important function. Its not like its new. Unless one has been living in a cave. My nokia 6630, made in 2003 had one. Is indispensable.

I want my phone to be unlocked instantly whenever i touch the screen.
Pressing a button to unlock teases me every time i want to use the phone.
Is there any software that would do the trick for me?
Your suggestions would be appreciated :)

hi, can anyone help me how to lock files in n8 i.e. make private some files. is it the zip manager? i've tried it but it didn't work. i set the password but when i tried opening it, it wont ask any password.. pls help me how to use zip manager.. thanx

John, 05 Feb 2011if you see the purple in the clock as shown on the pictures provided in this forum and also qt... morealso, does your screen brightness automatically changes with the intensity of the light? is it normal? cant we switch it off? cuz its kinda other way round, the screen turns dull when in dark environment and turns bright when comes under bright light, (in my ols nokia n85 it was jus d opposite, and better) so is it normal?
btw at what screen brightness do u use ur phone? Settings> phone> display> light sensor.. which level? I kept it at 3 (middle) and its too dull :(
and when in themes I select top (black one) I get the options bar of blue color and when I select the second (blue one) I get it like greenish..
plz advice?
