SOLVE UR PROBLEM N8
PROBLEM:
1. Phone hangs then
restarts after a
few seconds
2.phone hangs, shuts down, then cannot be started up
again for a while, like 30
minutes.
3)music and video player goes
blank sometime
4)widget not working properly 5)browser not working properly
N8 SOLUTION: Mine also has
defect in
it and i rectify in following way. ~back up ur
msg,contact,videos,image
to PC through ovi suite.
~then format ur mmc through PC
and remove
it. ~remove 3rd party app,games
from ur phone memory and mass
memory
~delete msg and contacts
~do soft reset by pressing
*#7780# then
~do hard reset by pressing
*#7370#
~u must have latest version of
NSU and ovi suite v3.0.0.284
~after then reinstall ur original N8 firmware from nokia
care or from NSU(Nokia software
updater) and after that
~then update ur phone with first
firmware release v12.011 on
1nov 2010 through NSU/OVI SUITE OR FOTA(firmware over
the air) by going to setting-
software-update.
FILE SIZE-2.89 MB and then
restart ur device.
IMPROVEMENTS- ^Boost up the performance and
stability of phone. ~after Then update ur phone
with'phone app update' firmware
release on 1jan via FOTA.
File size-3.3MB.
And restart ur phone.
If firmware is not available through fota then update from
NSU/ovi suite.
IMPROVEMENTS-
^Restarting issue solve
^homescreen changes now fast
and smoothly ^overall stability and
performance improve.
^hanging marginally decreases. ~then update ur phone with
latest PR 1.0 release on 15 jan.
IT is available via FOTA/NS
file size-1.1 Mb.
And then restart ur phone if it
automatically doesnt restart. IMPROVEMENTS-
^Browser speed increase
^camera runs fast
^folder opening become fast
^more smooth transition in UI.
^gallery runs fast ^finger scan to unlock screen
increases
~now update ur video player
with firmware app "video subtitle
"that provide subtitles in video.
It is available via FOTA and restart ur phone. ~now put ur
images,video,msg,contacts back
into ur phone and then restart it.
U will find that ur phone runs
very smooth without any hangs
and lags and restarting problem NOTE-most of the firmware has
been available world wide except
PR 1.0 .if any of the firmware
does not release in ur country it
will be available SOON .contact ur
local Nokia care. NEXT FIRMWARE PR 1.1 IS

gitty, 22 Jan 2011wtf ! N8's 4m 1st batch were faulty ! If u ve faulty then go to N.care n send it to nokia head... morefaulty means = ??? my n8 have a super slow changing screen position for about 5 secs and for some times it say insert sim card even though it have one then restart.

nice spec expect the screen resolution, build quality is great except the bezel around the glass screen, i found small gap in it
iphone 4 beat n8 only in screen resolution, it may be arguable but i really do find diffrences between iphone 4 and n8 screen,
am curious what spec apple may upgrade for their iphone 5? n 8 successor surely will have high resolutuion screen

Nokia N8 rules! Even at this site, daily interests of this fella only beaten up by Motorola ATRIX and Sony Ericsson XPERIA Arc for only less than two weeks? While Nokia N8 at pre-released state almost at the top! Even Samsung top dog Galaxy S and Apple iCrap iPhone 4 cannot beat this. Why do think so? Even Nokia N8 runs on an outdated OS, still, it can do things that an Android or WP7 or iOS cannot do 'till now!

wtf ! N8's 4m 1st batch were faulty ! If u ve faulty then go to N.care n send it to nokia headquarter ! They ll send u a brand new 4m 2nd batch ! I had 2 faulty n8s 4m 1st batch,silver white ! They sent me orange N8 4m 2nd batch ! Nt a single problem !

For all those like me still waiting for the video and apps update plus 4 more minor updates in row try updating via ovi suite, the moment it detects your phone the 6 updates are ready to be downloaded and installed.For me this worked, neither the *#0000# nor OTA update app in the phone worked!

most of the comments here are pointless... You're bashing the Nokia N8 for many reasons! Outdated processor and 256mb ram? So? As long as it runs smooth and fast. Im using N8 for three months. And its speedy!
Ill answer all your allegations...
For apple fanboys, the iphone 4 is sleek design. Granted. Take it out from the box and you get nothing. Jailbreaking it make it somehow useful. It was in 2007 when Nokia N95 released with a 5 megapixel camera with single flash, comparably to iphone 4. Duh. Only in 2010 when iOS 4.0 was released that brought iphone multi tasking,folder creation the hell it was implemented by nokia as early as 2005!!! Video calling over wifi? What if there's no wifi spot around? And it was proven that symbian OS is the only os with Real Multitasking, it dosnt juz freeze the app...
300,000 apps? How many of it have you dwnloaded?? And i found it pretty misleading, why??
For example a single app for a specific function is developed by many. Get it? Let's you want an app for weather, app store has many apps just for weather. Plus iphone is totally useless without apps. It lacks built in features. Its a fashion fone then just for show off tht its expensive.
Android? Have u heard about the news about android copied program code from oracle? Since its an open source, some imitation fones made in china runs android. Thats cheap. Im not saying if you're fone is made in china, that's fake. There are just those number of imitated fones specially those high end smartphones such as nokia n8...
Nokia is the most complete phone to-date.
Bashers say if you're into camera buy compact digicams, i say, if you're into games, just buy psp or ps3.
In this modern world, it is advantage to have an all in one device! That is what we call smartphone!!!
