Which anti virus is good for N8 if i download thru Nokia store ?? & if no anti virus is good in store, which anti virus is good & thru which site i can get it. I first used kaspersky & then netquin, But they resulted in switching off & on my cell automatically almost for 20 times. I thought that my N8 needs servicing But anyhow i managed to delete these anti viruses & then cell was Ok. So i dont want to take any risk again But also cant keep my cell an open source to invite viruses as i use Bluetooth & OTG system quite often. Plz help.

More N8 news today. Camera comparison, N8 and Lumia 1020.
when I put it on charging it becomes warm. If I do it while net browsing/listening to music it becomes more warm. What to do? Is it normal ?
Check out the Nokia N8 sensor size compared to 808, 1020, S4, 5S, One, 920, Z1... Also the relative Light Gathering Ability. This is just about raw power. :-)

MdN, 16 Sep 2013I've heard about some people ruining the spring, somewhere, but don't take my word for it. Wel... moreThanks again for you app suggestions. I downloaded both apps to my PC but after some thought, I just decided to live and let live. After all, it is a Nokia phone :-) according to Carol. I am quite interested in the second one though. Oh! Never mind about what you did not understand - it doesn’t matter. It was only about my “give back” hobby. When you make a commitment to “give back” something (receiving all the time just does not cut it), you just go through and do what you have to do regardless of the cost to yourself…even if you have to survive in a steaming environment (that gets hotter by the hour) for a long period, on one cup of coffee, while you do your thing :-). You feel good afterwards even though you end up half dead :-))). And you are glad that in between you remember to take a few photos.
Carol, 17 Sep 2013I won't be that worried about the slider to tell you the truth. It is nokia for God sake!:). B... moreHave to admit, I came to that conclusion last night. I'm saying like - what the hell am I worrying about slider for? Huh? I really don't see anybody complaining about a broken slider so maybe that is not an inherent problem. Let me just enjoy the darn phone and be done with it.
And you are so right! Nokia phones are built to last and let's face it, the N8 is a TANK! You can just feel it by the weight. And if I say so, is so! When it finally dies, I'll just weep a bit, give it a decent burial and offer a toast to the outstanding warrior it was. But I don't see that happening in a loooong while! So whoever have it, had better not sell theirs to rush off and buy some other competing brand. The N8 is in a class by itself. But you have to learn it as I found out the hard way.
For the guy who is worried about virus. I KNOW how you feel! My “comfort” blanket is Netqin. I like seeing, “Scanning for virus” going across the screen :-), although as Carol said, the likelihood of viruses affecting the phone during normal use is zero. But perhaps it may tell you IF you are importing any from your flash drive. More important to me is the “SYS organization” which “Optimizes”, “clears garbage” and “releases storage space”, The app comes with 6 things:- Network manager, Update virus DB, privacy protection, anti-lost, SYS organization and Contacts backup and I only use one (SYS organization) regularly. I dunno, maybe you can try it and if it doesn’t boost your confidence, just uninstall it. Mine is staying. It is my pacifier :-))).
Anonymous, 16 Sep 2013SORRY! :-)))I meant "lock". Oh dear, it's the terminology :-))). I've been manually ... moreI won't be that worried about the slider to tell you the truth. It is nokia for God sake!:). Before my n8 i had nokia 5230, a low cost smartphone. I used it for one year then give it to my mother who still uses it. I think it is more then 3 years old now, and never locked/unlocked it's screen in other way but with the slider, which works perfectly normal. I lock my n8 quite often with that slider to. I moded one of it's buttons (the menu virtual button) to lock the screen instead of going into menu. Thing that helps me allot to leave the slider alone, but.... i still use it, especially when taking pictures. So, stop worring about this and that. At the end, it is just a device. And the fact that is nokia should tell you that is a long lasting one. I droped mine several times, quite nasty. And that's cause i wanted to keep it perfect and always worried about something. Apperantly , after i stoped worring about it i never droped it:))). Na ja, this is life. Now it doesn't look great, but works great, and that's what matters at the end:)
Anonymous, 17 Sep 2013Hi friends, N8 has the system of on-the-go, which allows us to connect to external flash drive... moreNo windows, ubuntu, machintos virus affects Symbian system. In fact symbian viruses can be called extinct. I never had one since the day one of my first symbian, and that was in 2003... There were some crappy viruses for symbian but i think there isn't the case for symbian belle. This system is so protected they cannot create a good integrated app without bugs, but viruses:)). No worries, though, you should be carefull not to infect your phone memory. Not cause will affect your device but cause will sure affect the next pc you will plug your device in. And you don't want to mess up your pc, or others pc. So, carefull what devices you use for usb on the go...
Hi friends, N8 has the system of on-the-go, which allows us to connect to external flash drives. So wanna ask that how to prevent our cell from viruses if anti virus is not installed in it ?? & is it recommended to instal anti virus before using on the go system ??
Anonymous, 16 Sep 2013SORRY! :-)))I meant "lock". Oh dear, it's the terminology :-))). I've been manually ... moreI've heard about some people ruining the spring, somewhere, but don't take my word for it. Well, you can use this to lock:
Just put it on your home screen.
And try this for unlocking, though some people don't find it comfortable (I do and I love it):
I'd recommend installing both on your C drive because if you install on E they won't work when you connect your phone to PC (all the apps and files on E get disconnected). You can set it in your Nokia Store preferences (just in case: click on the man-shaped icon at the bottom right, then on Installation preferences, then choose).
Still not completely sure what it is you were doing over there but I'll think about it after I walk my dog. :-)

I've been manually locking it with the slider and I think I should get an app to do that because surely, the spring will go faster. Maybe I should just leave it to go off on its own because when that spring goes, I don't know what I will do.
Stupid me, 16 Sep 2013Thanks so much Carol & MdN. I’ll know now to pace out my shots rather than have to shut do... moreNever shut down your phone to prevent battery loss. Is better to go offline with it if you want to save some juice. Shutting down and turning it back on will eat up more battery then 4 hours of standby...:). Or you refereed to locking the screen up (or turning it off with the slider)...
MdN, 16 Sep 2013What Carol said! :-) Also, check the settings and make sure that "Save location info"... moreThanks so much Carol & MdN. I’ll know now to pace out my shots rather than have to shut down the phone prematurely to prevent the battery from going completely empty. You tink it easy? I only just figured out about 2 weeks ago that I should manually shut down the phone instead of waiting for it to go off on its own :-). Well, for me, taking photos is just for home use and whenever the occasions arise.
Yeah, I survived and enjoyed it tremendously. But I was flaked out for the rest of the day because of the heat & yes, dehydration & hunger etc. Thank God those occasions don’t come around too often and you don't have to get nervous because of special guests. So much easier to handle the simple routine – one hour and you are done.
Stupid me, 16 Sep 2013What a weekend! I just about collapsed at the end of my time slot today (two and a half hours)... moreWhat Carol said! :-) Also, check the settings and make sure that "Save location info" is a "No". I have a battery percentage display and if I'm not using the phone it will go down 1-2% in an hour. But when I spend a while surfing the internet it's easy to lose 10% in half an hour, or less. Strangely, watching movies doesn't drain the battery too much. I watched "Jobs" last night, nothing special. Just like his phones. :-) Glas you survived the weekend!
Stupid me, 16 Sep 2013What a weekend! I just about collapsed at the end of my time slot today (two and a half hours)... moreA full battery lasts (in my experience) about 4 hours of continuous photo shutting. If you use your flash, then lasts less. So, it all depends of light, screen light, flash and so on. So, yes, it is kind of normal. Some tips for the battery to last longer while in a "photo shutting" session:): Just lock your phone every time you don't use your camera. Let the camera app opened but slide down the lock slider when you do a 10/20/30/60 or more seconds pause. When you want to take another shut, just unlock it and your camera is ready to go...

I just about collapsed at the end of my time slot today (two and a half hours). It was so long, I thought it would never end. The other two groups were far more fortunate. In between, I was able to capture some moments of the celebrations with my camera. I shook too much for about half of them. The other half were OK. I noticed though, that the battery went down quite fast. I took out more pictures than usual, true, but I don’t think it was an unreasonable amount to merit the battery going down so quickly. Is that normal? Or is something wrong with my battery? First time I’ve noticed the phenomenon.
Anonymous, 15 Sep 2013can some1 pls tell me wat to do,my nokia N8 battery is nt lasting and i got a new one.less dan... moreCheaper replacement batteries from eBay can be from weird companies in China and sometimes don't last long. Some are good, some aren't... I guess you should get another one, or original Nokia battery. You can also try BV-4D from Nokia 808, it's higher capacity but the dimensions are the same and it works in N8.
