I have had this phone since June 2006. I am now on my third handset and second battery. I have had nothing but problems with this phone and I would not recommend this type of mobile to anyone. I have had problems with the software, turning itself off mid-conversation or mid-text and locking.
Hello...i've just bought this phone. it's realy nice but it works realy slow. it looks great and it takes great photos. i can't connet it to my wireless network card on the laptop..this is my only problem. could someone help me? thanks
I already have Google maps, but I am looking for software for N80 that give voice directions via bluetooth and GPS receiver.
This phone really bad like this? i m wondering to buy dis phone....coz at Malaysia is quite cheap...jz 1.5k....plz giv me more opinion on N80..thx
Well I went and bought one with the latest software V.4 and in the last two weeks I've had some problems ie. reception, poor battery, loose slide, screen garble and just about all the bad things everyone has spoken about. So off it went to Nokia service and mind you just the once. It came back entirely different, they replaced the battery, replaced the slide assembly, apparently tweaked the settings on the receiver and the power management. These can only be done at a service centre. Guess what it now does everything what it suppose to with no issues with reception or wifi connectivity. It is still a little slow in reading stuff off the SD card but this may well be an issue with the card rather than the phone itself. My thoughts anyway. PS TomTom with AUS maps runs really well with just a standard bluetooth receiver with no disconnection problems.
do you have a GPS add-on for the N80?
if not, then u can only get Australian maps with google mobile (or optus zoo) where u manually type in your address.
the n80 is no supercomputer, but its fast-enough to do what u want imo. you will notice delays when loading menus sometimes and going to the gallery. its not really slow. its just "a little" slow imo.
heyyyyyyyy yooooooooooo! is the n80 really slow? does it get slow when you put to much files? is n80 nice? because i am thinking about it if i should get it
I am looking for the best GPS navigation software for N80 with Australian maps.
ill try it later
do you know any FREE instant messenger that allows Yahoo?
because Agile Messenger has Version 3.78 for N80 and you need to pay for it for certain amount every 3 months or yearly, depending on the subscription you want.
i tried installing the Agile Version 3.76 and it automatically installs the 3.78 update. so you dont have any choice but to always run the 3.78 version which asks you to pay.
i tried to install the Windows Live Messenger on my N80 but i think it will only add Yahoo contacts if they're using Yahoo Messenger Ver 8. and i cant tell all my contacts to upgrade to version 8 just for me....
so... any free decent messenger for N80 that allows Yahoo?
Its starting to get me down this fone, how cud they make it with such poor battery life; For eg had on tele for 20 mins and sent 4 texts played a few games on fone 20 mins calls went for lunch played mp3 for half hour then cud do no more as had to save last one bar for any emergency calls...This is just an average example forget about wi fi within your buisness day, you have no chance, and i would swear that this fone is aimed at the buisness user???
the thing about most batteries (whether phone or laptop) is you must exercise it. treat it like a muscle.
if you always keep the phone fully charged, then when u do need the juice a year later, it will die very quickly.
i personally try to let it fully discharge (use it until it's flat) once a week and then re-charge. i notice the battery life gets better over time (initially). but in the long run, all batteries loose capacity over time, its natural.
yes - it still works on the normal N80, but it just doesnt display on your status bar (front screen). you have to run the program normally.
is your N80 just a regular N80, or the Internet Edition?
because the WLAN Wizard from Nokia website is in the Internet Edition webpage
will it work EVEN IF my N80 is NOT Internet Edition?
My n80 has a 2gb card. here are some cool ideas you can do with ur n80:
1) if u want to connect to ur office wifi try this excellent wifi app called wlan wizard (free from nokia). remember: you need to be given access to the wifi from the provider. http://europe.nokia.com/A4195015
2) i use the stereo out lead on my n80 and connect this to my AUX in the car, so i can listen to my mp3's while driving
3) a good website to see what u can do with n80 and other symbian s60 3rd phones:
4) set up a media server at home, and use your n80's upnp to control the content over your wifi. Ie. change the songs u listen to anywhere in ur house using ur n80 as a remote.
5) other great apps: google maps, symtorrent, windows messenger
look - this phone is amazing, and wont be surpassed in feature until another year. And even then, the n95 will probably be about the same size.
if u want a full-featured phone that does it all, this is it. If u want size, get a razor. if you want to take picutes, get the n73 or the se k750.
just remember: wifi on ur phone means whole new possibilities. in addition, NOTHING compares to the screen resolution to this phone. its crystal clear. and yes, the phone definitely grabs attention!
yes I have that problem! I can't go on the internet with vodafone live, it says some crap about packet data connection failed or something
I've been using it for 4 weeks. I would have to say that its CRAP. It looks nice n all that but for some reason i dont feel comfotable with it. Might sell it on ebay.
most of u guys were thinking to buy or not (same here) what i conclude from all u guys was
2)slow and lagging
3)low battery life
4)difficulty in accesing wifi
5)problems with searching network
6)problem with the sliding cuz it gets loose after some time.
i would like to get some info from u guys especially DS which i see he's currently owning one..... where can i get full application from the net for n80 to push it to the peak....
will the 1gb full of content cause the phone to be slower than current position alot?
