Hi ppl, can anyone tell me what does the firmware upgrade for? and can n80 take pictures WITHOUT the shutter tone?
I got this phone yesterday and It rocks!!
I had bad reception too, but I noticed that it was because it is set to "Dual mode" in network settings, set it to "GSM" and your problems are fixed :D
Do you have what it takes to be added in this friendster account? Ha! You bet. The hippest innest sickest... send me a message and we'll see...
could someone help me in tellin me how you activate vibration on this phone
FYI to the person who is calling up Nokia centers in India - The phone is available in INDIA - I have it.
I figured out the signal issues, DNT know how, but did, try these few things....
make sure the SIM is inserted properly, the casing for the sim is really awfull IMO, so it is possible it may be loose. Set you operator to GSM/Umts - do not keep it on DUAL mode...set content sharing on WiFi to OFF mode, it automatically enables it once u want to access the WiFi.. my phone kept rebooting upto 4 times and hour, but since I put in these settings, phone has not restarted once, signals are full strenght, reception is clear while using the phone... got to say beginning to like this phone again... and guys who r ranting about the battery life.. please .. u want to use music player, wifi, bluetooth.. a laptops battery lasts what 4-6 hours with contant use...so just zip it...a smartphone's battery will not last over a day...maybe 2 at the most...and a spare battery costs just 6 bucks.. so stop mooning over it...
now I havent upgraded the firmware as yet...
the still images are excellent, but video is nt too gd.. hopefully that will be resolved by then...
For bad reception make sure you have the right network bands assigned(850, 1900 etc.).
everything's great about it except the reception....signal is awful and a quadband phone shouldn't have such problem
To all you ppl having "out of memory" problems..
As the warning says, it applies to internal memory and hasn't got anything to do with your xxxGB memory card. I have a 2GB ang was getting the same!
For some reason this phone does a weird thing when installing software from PC (well, mine does anyway). It stores the installation file on the internal memory every time and as a result that memory fills up pretty quickly. SO.. in settings there's a list of installed files, browse the list and find the files that are located on the phone memory (no mem card symbol to the right of the name) and removed them ALL..
I've sent my phone in because of bad reception so I can't check the exact location of the menu but you should find it in "tools" or "settings" or what ever it's called on english version of sw..
it seems a lot of you" but not all"do not understand or have never used a smartphone before because i can see it in all your questions..Most are really easy answered and not the fones fault..These fones do work in a different way to normal phones hence youre memory questions etc but that said the person who said about symbian phones being nearly all the same i almost agree as my first was the 3650 and most changes especially for me is the ability to play more formats but the 3650 did well for its days & still does & it takes a 4gb mmc card!!! O2 have them but have to fight to get one. Ordered it last week to then be told out of stock til next week or month they don't know etc etc. After a day of conflicting info told them to stuff their contract...and the phone will be with me in 3 days!!! 49.99 on an upgrade. just hope it's worth the effort?? And got a better tariff deal out of them too!!! Carphone warehouse has them...had a play there last week...yeah it's a bit chunky but that's coz it does LOTS!!! All phone stores currently saying it's the best phone on the market at the moment...that's if,like me you can't wait for the N93.

hello, i just want to post my opinion. i have had all the nokia smart phones, since 3660, to my n70, i have a friend that have the nokia n80, is ok, but it have the same things that have my n70, it have better the camera, screen, sound(not big diferent),and have wifi. i just tired of nokia, but i cant live without a smart phone... but i find a solution, qtek 9600, or se p990. if you are tired too, this are two of the best solution.
