Andy Burgin, it's not up to Nokia when networks release a phone, the networks are the ones who test the handset on their service along with their own software, so it's down to the network for not getting the testing done properly.
This is the reason as to why T-Mobile and 3 have yet to release the handset, whereas O2, Orange and Vodaphone have the handsets ready for sale! I wouldn't be suprised if there are a lot of problems with the orange veriant of the N80, judging by the N70, Orange + Symbian = Pain in the arse for customers!
The N80 was a waste of time getting the Battery life as really shown how Nokia are really bothered about its top class mobiles, the slider was not designed right it should have been spring loaded so you could just flick the top part upwards plus there was no little ledge helping you to push the slider up,you couldn"t use it the radio an functions on it for long before you would see the power drain out of the battery,Orange added the photograph software but they can"t have done it right because if you took a photo or recorded a video it would say memory low an thats what made me make the right decision an returned it to Orange,Nokia just release the phones without the networks releasing them messing about with your mobiles an then i am sure the blame would go to them not you
any one can tell, why line won't cut off when pressing down the slide after making call, or how to do the settings
Camera reasonably good but video disappointing bad...
Go for n90 or n93 if u want a good camera video phone...
Have a nice weekend ahead... Samsusddin (nokia funatic)
Had n 80 for 3 weeks now. Top phone with good features but software crashes all the time. Is anyone having same problems.
i work for o2 online this phone is now available £99 on a new contract and available on upgrade dont know what price cause its different for hom much u spend
Yep the current firmware is tardy but DON'T flash the phone (upgrade it) yourself!!! This is because you'll void your warranty. If you flash it yourself and somewhere down the track your phone happens to malfunction, Nokia will not repair it for free! Take it to a nokia service centre and get it upgraded/flashed for free dammit!
Honestly to everyone - DON'T buy the N80 if you're NOT going to use its main strengths (e.g. 3G, WI-FI, Internet Browser, UpnP) because you're simply wasting your money. Unless your go full throttle with 3G (expensive) you'll never be able to experience the FULL N80 sentiment (i'm lucky cause my company subsidizes my phone bill).
It's simply a business orientated phone. You CAN'T set interactive wallpapers or screensavers nor is the music player a great visual experience like on SE phones (something that seems to impress most kids). The 3MP pics might look grainy on screen, but when you adjust them to the standard 600x400 print size, they come out like a gem!!!
And NO it's not big (unless you have really puny hands)- lets settle this once and for all.
After owning and using the phone for about 2 weeks, here's my Truthful Opinion for potential buyers:
1. Phone is very compact. Very easily fits in pockets of jeans as well as shirt. Looks beautiful as well.
2. Black is definitely better looking than silver.
3. Wifi is very fast and good.(If someone needs settings let me know)
4. Music Player is excellent and very loud.If yours is not loud, get it checked from Nokia care Center or work on Equalizers.
5. Camera is very good except that we can't turn off the "Shutter Sound".
1. BATTERY LIFE is pathetic. I can't understand why Nokia couldn't figure this out. HOnestly friends battery is poor.
I think most of the people who complain about this phone HAVEN'T and WILL never utilize it to it's full capacity! Most just buy it to show off yet can't afford all the pro-mod cons!!! If'd you'd tried surfing the net on it, sending emails, conference calling (i.e. VIDEO-TALK) and use the WI-FI on a regular basis you'll realise what an exceptional and I mean exceptional phone it really is! Oh and the camera is really great... the color rendering is a lot more accurate then the N70 but the true difference can only be seen with your own eyes when you develop them... once again most of you probably will never do that.
since i have both sony ericsson w900 n nokia N80.
i think.ull better buy w900.
u ill regrett..

Can you buy new housings for the N80 like you could on the N70 as I got a silver 1 but would like to change it to a black
Hello i just hold one in my hands today and i can say that it isn't so big.It surprised me that it is just a little bigger than my K750 aprox. 2.5 cm(1 inch). It has a big screen and its lside is perfect :).I coudn't see the camera because it didn't had a batery .In my opinion the black one is nicer but it depends on every person's opinion:). RESPEKT.
can somebody tell me ..how actually n80 looks, i hope it doesnt look ugly and bulky..i am planning to buy it . so which one to go for black or silver?
please comment about its looks because that is one thing of which i am concerned the most.
Anyone here know's where to download S60 3rd softwares for N80?
I having a hardtime looking for software. This phone is so demanding.
PLEASE ANSWER! Thanks
Well, truly i don't care about the design of the phone, but it's obvious that N80's design is awesome. The features are great, and correction (It's not heavy) Nokia 6680 and N90 is heavier than N80. I don't care also about how it slid up and down. Phone feature specs is more important.
