i would'nt be posting my opinion here if i dont have the phone in the first place. of course i do! and yes i hope my set is not a faulty set, or sumtin'.
i wonder if you really have the phone or may be you are just lucky to have one without fault at all
ha ha some1 called gupta, no way! is there a difference between the black and silver 1 apart from the colour, ppl say that its different software on them, is this a load of bull?
i've had this phone for abt a week. it's a great, compact phone.
i've been reading this posts even before i bought the N80. despite all the negativity of the phone, i absolutely found no problem with mine. picture and videowise, just change the settings provided and u will get an excellent image/video. batt does'nt drain out quickly. 2 days with WLAN, GPRS, SMS's n calls (i'm on 3G network). slide is fine, no wobbles. keypad is OK. brightness is OK. Speaker is LOUD n good. MP3 is fine. web browser super smooth n fast. multiple application is good. it has'nt hang eversince. all in all, i find no faulty at all. at 1st i was worried abt the LOCK/UNLOCK as u have to slide the phone to get it LOCKED but then i found out that u just havta press the POWER KEY briefly and a list will come out to LOCK KEYPAD (when the phone slide is up).
i'm having a breeze with mine :)
its the best phone in the market, loaded with features. the only thing is that the camera at the back has no cover, isnt that sensitive? another, the processor is a bit slow, how fast is it compare to other smart phones? tnx
Gupta, might you know which firmware packs (V01-V09 i believe) contain which languages? Are there other differences aside from language and other localization aspects? Thanks
i got this phone few days ago and start having problem, first the phone would turn off itself quite regularly, speaker volume is low, when i play mp3 it would just stop without me touch it or anything, slide seems getting loose very easy, overall this phone is not worth the money i paid, think twice b4 you buy it, nokia really has produce some low quality phone, shame to nokia!
OK guys to improve your battery life do this,
Menu --> Settings ---> Network -- "network mmode" choose gsm. instead, if you had dual you will find that your battery will last 2 time sas long :D

people lie alot here!,they tell wrong informations and some try to let the readers down.
(((the slide of this phone is very easy to get loose)))
Thats NOT true at all,as i have the N80 for almost a month now i dont see or feel any problems with the sliding thing at all.works fine as just got it yesterday.
even the review says:The arresting mechanism between the two parts works VERY well too.
same idiot lies have been told about the W900i,when ppl started to say its getting loose when i still have this w900i since it hit the market and AGIAN lol it doesnt show any problems.
THERE are alot of ppl here who just like to speak without being honest, and almost all of those liers dont really have the N80 or even smelled it lol.
ppl say here(when you cant reach the grapes you say its Sore)
same thing here, they couldnt buy the N80 so they burn from inside, thats why they alot just mention bad stuff about the N80.
over all, its the best in market with no phone to be compared with.
Thanks very much, im going to have a look now and let you know how i get on
Try the following link:
As far as I know, that link contains the latest firmware for the N91.
If you have any other questions, be sure to check out the flashing guide. The process for updating the N91 firmware is essentially the same as the N80.
i just got this n80 last week from orange, the phone is great in every aspect, but the battery performance is very very poor,i think this is due to it being a 3g phone, they drain the battery,i'm sending it back! 4 a refund! can't hold charge overnight...
I have noticed your interesting post about updating sw on the n80. do you know of anywhere i can get the sw update for my n91. i have done this for my n80 but now wanting to do it for my n91. to me, my n91 is running fine, but everybody is saying my sw version is the crap one! i have been told i need the newest version. thanx in advance
NOKIAS getting worse with it phones,Mines going back,I had it on Orange ,I would take a Photo an it would say Memory full how can it say that with 40mb of Memory an a 128mb Mini sd card inside the phone,it then kept turning it self off to the Nokia screen when you turn it on an then the Phone would say please insert your memory card when the card was already inside the bloody phone,i called Orange an the guy told me to cancel my contract an make a reclaim which i have i did today an am really disappointed with NOKIA an they never seem to sort there software problems out before releasing there phones,N70 ,6280,6230i an the N80 have been a total waste off time an the phones are expensive but all crap,i am going to go to there webpage an make a complaint an can"t wait to see the excuse whey there phones are getting worse more than better,So all the Buyers of the N80 get it checked out before you keep it or more problems will occur i promise you or take it back now!
indeed the music volume is low but there is away, open music player and goto equalizer, select to make ur own and whack the 5 bands to the top and select ok, then name it and then activate it, its v loud but u must use gud quality mp3s or it will sound distorted!
See menu p.12~14, p.32~34 and p.95~99
too many pages, so please check your Menu....
Yes, I have done this. I successfully upgraded my N80 from 3.0614.0.1 to 3.0617.0.6. I am using language pack V08 which contains English, French, Arabic, Spanish and German.
At first I also questioned the validity but if you visit the forums, you will notice that a lot of other people have also had success in upgrading. The upgrade has improved a lot of the bugs and errors caused by the older firmware so I would definitely recommend upgrading.
The only catch is that upgrading via a USB cable can only be done on BB5 phones (Nokia 6630 or newer).
